Don't Count Your Steps

When you decide to make a change in your life, look for a friend to journey with. It is said when you are alone and lost, you are truly lost. But when you are lost with a friend, you’re having an adventure. Having a friend who supports, encourages, inspires and motivates you towards the Hereafter is a blessing from Allah. On the Day of Judgement, one major complain the inmates of Hellfire will have is: ‘If only I had not taken so-and-so for a friend’ [ya waylata, laytani lam ….’] (25:28).

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.
