can I brag for a second?

- graduated from a 4-year university in 2 years

- first in my family to attend graduate school

- recieved 2 scholarships to graduate school that I didn’t even apply for, making my tuition non-existant (no student loans, woo!)

- recieved a part-time job offer in my field

- signed the lease for my first apartment

I've seen a lot of mediocre, lukewarm recommendation letters and that can completely kill your application. I've seen situations where the same professor sent the SAME half-assed letter for TWO students. Like verbatim. Neither student got in.

Professors shouldn't be agreeing to write recommendation letters if they're not going to make their student shine and give them the best chance. I think it's unethical.

An Overview of Note-Taking Styles

I graduated high school in 2010 so graduating with my bachelor's in 2020 wasn’t originally the plan. 🏁

These last 10 years were filled with many highs and many lows. I dropped out of college at 21, had 3 surgeries at MD Anderson before 25, and battled suicidal depression for many years.

If I could deliver a message to myself in my early 20s I’d tell her it’s OK.

It’s OK to fall because you’ll always pick yourself up.

It’s OK to fail because you’ll have way more wins.

It’s OK to be scared, you don’t have to always be strong.

It’s OK to change your mind, to make mistakes, and to feel broken. You can always try again tomorrow.
