it's difficult when you're your own test subject
I can't resist writing a movie review of The Interview. When I first heard the movie premise, I thought it was in poor taste. I thought it was low to produce a film making light of the situation in North Korea and to make a profit off of that. Hence, when screenings were cancelled, I wasn't concerned. Yet, I inevitably caved to watching the movie.
I was pleasantly surprised. It was a social commentary on the manipulative power of the media, while itself embodying that power. Packaged as a comedy rather than a documentary, the movie is aimed to reach larger audiences. Thus, the content cannot deviate too much, lest there be accusations of false advertising. But it gave just a bit of information for viewers' interest to be piqued; to find out for themselves more about North Korea. For more in-depth analysis and cogent commentaries, we should all gladly head elsewhere.
It's a Hollywood production. A significant number of its criticisms can be leveled against much of the industry, so I won't address them here. Considering international tensions and the gravity of human rights abuses in North Korea, I would neither have chosen to produce or green-light The Interview. It would have been easy and favorable to create an entirely fictitious dictator and state, whilst retaining the humor. Imagining that this was the case and abstracting away from the political implications, The Interview does well as a comedic film meant to induce laughs.
omg i applied to law school
thinking is hard. ugh. how do people do this.
I'm organizing an event. And creating the invite list, I just realized that I've only had one non-white professor during my undergrad. Weird that I've never noticed this until now, especially as the student population is much more diverse... It's all very understandable but whoa. How did I not notice before?!

I'm thankful that I have only to decide between good things.
I can’t make up my mind.
Should I apply for law schools this year?
Should I travel and work abroad?
Should I attempt graduate studies?
Everyone is buzzing and swarming. I’m afraid of being left behind. I wonder if I’m ready. If it’s the right time, if I can do it all, if I should wait for my final marks, how research will affect me.
I’ve always wanted to go to law school and to have a legal profession. I want to travel, to experience adventure and loneliness and excitement. I adore philosophy, and know that I would enjoy continuing the discipline. I want to make an impact. I don’t want to be stuck in an ivory tower. I need money. I have student loans to think about. Living on my own is expensive. Education is expensive. Learning a new language and culture would be challenging. I want to meet and make friends with people who have similar interests. I want to be surprised and immerse myself in diversity. I’d like to make a home and not worry about everything fitting in two suitcases. I’m envious of those who have lifelong friendships. I don’t want to miss out on great opportunities. I don’t want to waste my time or money.
Deadlines are coming up fast, and I haven’t made up my mind. I don’t know where I’ll be a year from now. There’s not enough time to think.
I really want to pee but someone left splatters all over the toilet seat :(((((
A crush is when you’re smiling and listening to sappy songs and saying to yourself “you’re ridiculous” because of the simplest things.
Sometimes I feel uncertain, but just so damn happy and content :)
