So how is this going to work?
Teams will be split up equally between artists and writers - alternating between the two, depending on who starts the chain.
Example: It can either be artist, writer, artist, writer; or writer, artist, writer, artist (and it can go on depending on how many people sign up for the game!)
Please note: There will be a regular game, as well as a NSFW game. There will be no NSFW content in the regular game, rules for the NSFW will be at the bottom.
The Rules!
The basic rules of the game are as followed: team members will work together to create a single illustrated narrative for BBC’s Merlin. One member will start the chain, and that one image/fic will serve as the starting point for the rest of the chain. The completed piece will be sent to the mod at [email protected], who will check with the next teammate that they are available to draw/write, and once confirmed, the work will be sent to them for ‘reinterpretation & recreation’.
The team members will only see the piece of the person before them on their team. This is so that the big reveal at the end is a surprise for everyone!
Artists
Artists will need to create a complete piece (png on a transparent background) that will include one or two characters only.
Writers
Writers will be writing a fic between 500-3000 words and submitted as a gdoc or a docx.file.
If you are starting the chain:
If you are starting the chain, be it as a writer or an artist, the decision of what to create is completely up to you! You can use any characters, any ships, and any AUs! Again, this is the regular game, so please no NSFW content.
If you are further down the line:
Any player after the chain starter will be working off of a piece of art/fic given to them. The rules are a little different: if the piece of art/fic only has one character in it, then you are allowed to add any character you’d like to the story/art. If the art/fic already has two characters, you are allowed to swap one of the characters involved with anyone else. These rules apply to both writers and artists! You are still allowed to turn it into another AU, give it a cracky twist or complete change in mood, as long as you keep some visible inspiration from the previous teammate’s work.
NSFW Game:
Basically all of the same rules apply, only that this game will have NSFW content. There is a specification in the sign ups that will allow you to choose whether or not to participate in the regular game or the NSFW game.
A message from the mod
As the mod, I am only in charge of organizing teams and sending the works from one player to the next. I have no influence on who or what the artists/writers create. Teams will be random, so all characters/ships are free game. If you want a 100% guarantee that you will have complete control over what you are able to create, please volunteer to start the chain!
