by Larry Dane Brimner
basic info: Mercury
-Mercury is the 8th largest planet
-Discovered in 2000 BC by the ancient Romans.
-Nearest to the Sun
-Diameter: 4877.922 km or 3031 miles (2/5 Earth's diameter)
-Named in honor of the swift messenger of the gods
-Has no moons
-Sun appears 2 1/2 times larger in Mercury's sky
-No atmosphere, but there are minute amounts of hydrogen, oxygen, sodium, potassium, and argon
-A lack of atmosphere means that Mercury's sky is black and the stars can be seen during the daytime
-Lighter side can be up to 426 degrees Celsius (800 degrees Fahrenheit) while the dark side can be up to 184.44 degrees Celsius (-300 degrees Fahrenheit)
-Heavily cratered
- 1 rotation = about 59 earth days
-Suns rays are 7x more strong on Mercury than Earth
-Because the North and South poles do not tilt very much, they do not receive a lot of sunlight. Thus, ice is found at both of Mercury's poles.
Enjoy a magnificent view of the sun!

A little scary looking, but with your very own Mercury Suit, you can survive on planet Mercury!
Climb aboard the Experimental UEF Spaceship
travel and accomodations: gravity
Gravity- The gravity is 38% the gravity on Earth. So if you weigh 45.36 kilograms (100 pounds) on Earth, you’d weigh 17.15 kilograms (37.8 pounds) on Mercury. You’d still be as strong, so you would be able to jump up 2.6 times high as you can jump on Earth.
travel and accomodations: atmosphere
There's no atmosphere in Mercury so basically, you'll blow up! Don't worry! we'll provide you with a Mercury suit.
travel and accomodations: temperature
Temperature- Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun, so this means that it would be one of the hottest planets. The side facing the Sun can be 800 degrees Fahrenheit, or 426 degrees Celsius. You better use a tunnel tube to connect your spaceship to the planet for an easier way of transportation. You’ll also be able to see a magnificent view of the Sun.
