Only Wanda had the ability to put him to sleep. She granted him the much needed levity from the hellscape that is his own conscious. For just a few hours, Pietro was allowed a dreamless state of sleep. His tireless thoughts could finally be put at rest in that small window of time. He no longer had have to feel chained in a prison of his own making. He didn’t have to feel anything. Just an empty void without the dread and frustration that so often accompanied him.

Maybe it was possible since they’re twins, or Wanda’s powers were just that grand. Maybe it’s both.

Not like any of that matters anymore, because he’s still here and she isn’t.

Her absence was loud and a prominent feature in their home. Her claimed spot on the lounge remained vacant. An extra plate sat uselessly in the cupboard, clean and unused. Her bedroom door that always remained closed no matter what, was wide open. All revealing the desolate space she was meant to fill.

An emptiness he once sought for, became his agony. Now he’s forced to walk this unmoving earth without her and be tormented by the void she left behind.
