Dunk finds a wounded cat that looks way too similar to a certain prince.
One day Dunk finds a wounded white cat in an alley, his coat so shiny and long that Dunk can’t turn a blind eye. His knighthood extends to every creature in need. Blood oozing from the cat’s wound paints its white fur red. Dunk tries to scoop him up but the cat hisses and tries to scratch him. “Wow aren’t you a feisty one? Shhh i will help you.” Dunk says as he gathers the cat into his arms. Wounded and tired, the cat stops its murder attempts but still looks at him with untrusting eyes and hisses again. Up close, Dunk can see its eyes properly now. Purple. It is all too familiar. White fur. Lilac eyes. Hostile attitude. “You remind me of some princeling. Why does your kind always find me?” Dunk can swear he has seen the cat roll its eyes as if it understands him. “Beautiful and deadly.” The cat trashes and tries to hit him. Dunk has to dodge the little monster’s attack not to lose an eye and he hugs him tightly to restrict the reach of his murder mittens. With the clear warning the cat gave him he shuts up for the rest of the way.
The next two weeks pass almost in a blur. He tends the cat’s wounds, bathes it and shares his food with his tiny Terror. Yes he decides to name him that bc this is the most aggressive creature -well the second most aggressive after.. the Bright Prince Aerion Targeryen- he has ever seen if the deep long scratches on his hands and arms are anything to go by. Slowly, they fall into a rhythm in which Dunk tends its wound and feeds the cat. After a while Terror gets less violent and doesn’t bite him all the time. Dunk almost cries with happiness one time Terror lets him pet it scratch its chin. That doesn’t happen again but progress is progress.
Dunk always finds him curled up on his bed but whenever he goes to bed at the end of the day, Terror jumps from the bed and finds another place to sleep. It makes Dunk sad but he hopes over time his tiny Terror will warm up to him.
One particularly cold night, Dunk goes to bed, Terror right in front of his bedroom door looks at him with curious eyes unsure to leave as it is cold but the bed and Dunk are warm. With hope in his eyes, Dunk pats the bed and calls him. Fluffy tail swaying slowly right and left, Terror approaches hesitant in its movements and hops on the bed. Dunk doesn’t move an inch lest he scare the cat away. Terror snuggles to his side seeking as much warmth as possible, tail curling around its body. Finally finally smiling to himself, Dunk feels like he has won a tourney.
In the morning when he wakes up, he sees white hair on top of his chest. It must be Terror, he thinks. But the weight he feels cannot belong to a cat. So he wriggles. “Stop moving” someone who isn’t definitely a cat says. He jumps in his skin looking down and … and it is Aerion Targaryen in his bed using his body as a pillow and very much naked. This must be a dream. Why would he be in his bed!? What did they do!? He doesn’t remember doing anything … like that with the prince. His sudden movement has the prince look at him with sleepy eyes. “My Prince… what… uh.. Where is the cat?” It isn’t the first thing he should ask but the first thing he blurts out.
The prince chuckles at his shocked face “I was the cat, you oaf.” He goes back to sleep as if nothing happened.
