That being said, anywhere they may have touched you, your skin, your hair, your nails and so on, was changing the moment they departed your life, even before that. Your hair grows (on average) six inches per year, so depending on how long yours is, you were rid of their touch there within a few years tops. Crowded Places - Banks

Banks’s I’ve been scared of crowded places, come with me, I’ll take you home reminds me a lot of Taylor’s I’ve been looking sad in all the nicest places.

(Spoiler Alert: If you read through this whole post, you’ll see she circles back to this idea of home at the end.  Of course…)

More than anything though, this is a song about a touring artist, something Taylor understands far more than we do.  The first verse is especially revealing:

More important information: Banks wrote this song for the last season of Girls, Lena’s show that Taylor loves.  Banks explains, “It’s about falling in love and social anxiety.”  It’s co-produced by Jack!

Dark Side Of The Gym - The National

The National usually only writes one pure love song an album.  Genius has a pretty good analysis of these lyrics, but for our purposes, I’ll simply connect their chorus, But I’m gonna keep you in love with me for a while, I’m gonna keep you in love with me, with Taylor’s lyrics in RFI: I keep him forever.

Bad Reputation - Shawn Mendes

Besides the obvious title connection, if Joe ever wrote a song, it might as well be this one.

Let’s Get Married - Bleachers

Obviously Taylor was going to include one of Jack’s songs on her playlist… but she didn’t have to choose this one.  Let’s get married, Joe Alwyn?

This has a very 1989 sound; in fact, my husband was like, “Why does this sound so much like Taylor?”
