André is basically an example of how it sucks to be a werewolf in this 'verse. I mean, I guess even Amon, the other named werewolf character, has to operate criminally if he wants to actually work his dream job, but compared to André, he has it pretty good, and unlike André, Amon actually knows fellow non-humans who kinda get how it is. André was turned into a werewolf a child (though he didn't manifest as one until he was in his mid teens) and he really hasn't known "normal." When his family died in a "freak animal attack accident" (read: werewolf attack) he, lacking an extended family able to take him, was placed into the foster care system, which might've worked out if not well, then at least good enough, if he hadn't been a werewolf. His first transformation was messy, as even a juvenile werewolf can cause surprising amount of damage when catching people off-guard. Ever since André has been mostly alone. Sometimes he takes refuge within the homeless population of the area he is staying in. Sometimes he is able to do menial work, taking payment under the table, and living in a seedy motel or something. Sometimes he spends periods of time in his "wolf" form, barely existing above an animal. He is terrified of making friends, afraid that one full moon he will lose control and kill them. He has a gloomy disposition, and generally gives off the vibe of someone who doesn't want to get noticed, which is doubly tragic as he is a rather big dude and even bigger dog. He has hard time letting go of material things he holds on to, particularly clothes, and has tendency to wear them threadbare. He dislikes harming people, and would rather get hurt himself, and he is something of a doormat normally, but he DOES have limits, and you don't really want to reach them, as hard as that is. André's self-esteem is quite low, and he has a very defeatist mindset, and he has largely given up on the thought that things will ever get better. If someone managed to maybe get him in therapy and maybe give him permanent housing and scrub him really clean and give him nice clothes, André would probably clean up pretty nicely! As a werewolf, André can take a canine form. During the full moon (and the day before + after) he is forced to transform and let the werewolf demon take control. During this time he is actively dangerous to any human near him, and will attack and kill unprovoked. He can also willingly shift to his "wolf form" during other times. André prefers his human form, but his circumstances mean he often has easier time in his canine form, and such, André can be found in his canine form so often his eyes are almost permanently golden (see ref sheet for explanation.) Like all werewolves, André has cravings for fresh meat, and especially human flesh. While he doesn't mind eating raw animal meat, his man-eating compulsion actively disgust him, and he has never taken a bite from anyone outside the times when he's not in control. Copy pasting this explanation from before: in André's setting, werewolves are very dog-like in looks, on the logic of combining wolves with humans is what made dogs. And also because I think visually dogs are more fun than wolves. They can also partially transform if they want, but "top-heavy wolf anthro" isn't a shape they can take. A character from my Urban Fantasy setting, Amon is a werewolf. And also a doctor. Well, not really a doctor, he never actually received his licence to practice medicine, or any medical doctorate, nor did he even graduate, having dropped out during his fourth year due to... well, due to bad case of werewolfism. On one particularly fateful night he was mauled by a werewolf, which in turn transformed him into one as well. He was unable to juggle being medical student and a werewolf, and after he fatefully slipped in a way that caused several casualties, Amon had to face the reality that he wasn't really fit for living in the society the way he had wanted to. Ashamed of what he had become, and crucially, even more ashamed of his failure to keep things together, Amon Hayes disappeared in the aftermath of one of the bizarre bloody murder case on the campus. That's one way to be rid of student loans I guess. In the years since, Amon has settled down to open his small "clinic" in a bad part of town where no one cares about his lack of credentials or the fact he mysteriously disappears every month around the full moon. He keeps an air of professionalism about him (despite not being a professional) and he is overall pleasant and well-meaning, though has the tendency to get annoyed easily, even if he tries to hide it. He wants to come off as approachable and trustworthy. This doesn't mean he is someone to walk over or threaten, and many of the criminals he often finds himself treating find out the hard way their guns are useless if the bullets aren't silver. Amon is not a pacifist, and is willing to engage in both self-defense and aggression if he feels it will prevent further problems down the road. He is highly intelligent and confident, and thinks he knows the best, and he often acts without asking for input or permission if he feels its the right thing to do. As a werewolf, Amon can take a canine form. During the full moon (and the day before + after) he is in fact forced to transform and let the werewolf demon take control. During this time he is actively dangerous to any human near him, and will attack and kill unprovoked. He can also willingly shift to his "wolf form" during other times, and when he does so, he keeps his senses, though his thinking abilities are somewhat "flattened" and he finds it easier to go with instinct and abandon reason. He generally prefers to stay in human shape, but can sometimes found lounging in his "wolf" form as a form of de-stressing. He will also readily shift if it's of any practical use, he's not like... ashamed or hesitant or anything. It is what it is. He has cravings for fresh meat, particularly human flesh, and while he doesn't particularly enjoy this, he isn't necessarily above indulging on occasion. When he was, er, freshly turned werewolf, he was very disturbed by this, but as he has settled into his werewolfism, he's become more and more comfortable with the idea of eating humans and violence in general. Sometimes he is slightly disturbed by the fact he is not disturbed, but that's basically the extent of it. In his setting, werewolves are very dog-like in look, on the logic of combining wolves with humans is what made dogs. And also because I think visually dogs are more fun than wolves. They can also partially transform if they want, but "top-heavy wolf anthro" isn't a shape they can take. Also clothes... don't transform with them, so if you need to shift a lot, you need to get real cool about being on the nude real fast.
