I don’t usually add on to posts, but I hope it’s cool if I elaborate on why we don’t like the puzzle pieces for anyone who might be wondering.
It was coined by Autism Speaks, which is a trash organization that does more harm than good. You could make a whole separate post on why they suck but I think this site broke it down pretty nicely. Basically, they’re not really helping autistic people.
It implies that autistic people are incomplete, broken, and need to be put together.
The bright colours also perpetuate the stereotype that autistic people are childish.
On the other hand, the infinity symbols, especially the rainbow celebrate the diversity of the autistic community.
