napping together is my kind of date

my hair is wonderfully soft. i wish you were softer, like my hair is. so i could run my fingers over you without your thorns nicking my thumbs. i wish a lot of things. sometimes i wish you were here. sometimes i wish you were there. sometimes i wish i didn’t know a single thing about you. but you are pretty skin and i am pretty skin and together we are the prettiest skin. but what is pretty skin without blood rushing beneath it? what is pretty skin without bones and muscle and a heart? who am i without you? i hope to find out someday.  i wish to meet myself and replace everything i once knew about you with things i now know about myself. i wish to someday love myself enough to never love you again. nothing hurts anymore, but there are holes in my skin from where you dug your nails in. the holes don’t hurt. they just feel absent.  my heart is wonderfully soft. it was. my heart doesn’t break for anyone anymore. and until i can massage it back to softness again, my heart will stay quiet. quiet.
