𝑡𝑜𝑢𝑐ℎ // 𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑦

𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒.          the  concept  of  donna’s  powers  are  rather  easy  to  explain.    she  is  able  to  experience  someone’s  memory  just  by  touching  them.    it  doesn’t  matter  where  she  touches  them   ( though  for  her  it  works  through  her  hands )   as  long  as  it’s  skin  to  skin  contact.    since  she  is  still  trying  to  figure  out  how  to  properly  control  her  powers,  donna  isn’t  aware  of  what  she  can  actually  do.

USUAL  TENSION  VISIBLY  LOOSENING , SMILE  ON  HER  LIPS  GROWING  BRIGHTER .  she  enjoyed  donnas  company  way  more  than  those  of  the  other  agents  around  them   —   always  wary ,  always  eager  to  find  a  weak  spot ,  a  mistake ,  A  FAILURE .  they  haven ‘ t  been  fond  about  two  mutants  being  placed  so  close ,  being  trusted  with  secret  documents  and  belongings .  WHO  COULD  TRUST  ONE  OF  THESE  CREATURES  ?  ?  even  though  shield  had  worked  with  various  super  human  beings ,  even  if  they  were  in  steady  contact  to  tony  stark  and  the  rest  of  the  avengers  —  this  really  seemed  to  be  an  issue . well .  FUCK  THEM .  reaching  out  for  her  bag ,  woman  ready  for  mischief .   ❛   then  let  us  sneak  out  before  banks  is  coming  up  with  another  stupid  document  he  does  not  understand  himself .  ❜   already  on  the  run ,  head  turning  back  to  blonde .   ❛   be  careful .  i  can  listen  but  i  can  also  TALK  FOR  HOURS .  without  ever  getting  tired ,  you  know  ?  ?  the  pros  and  cons  of  being  a  coffee  addict .  ❜   probably  it  would  help  them  both ,  still  insecure  about  their  abilities ,  still  afraid  to  properly  use  them  without  getting  someone  into  serious  danger .  amelia  hated  it  to  waste  her  time  with  training ,  with  repeating  what  a  higher  ranked  told  her  without  having  any  kind  of  knowledge  about  mutantism .  IT  ALL  LOOKED  SO  EASY ,  RIGHT  ?  ?  but  it  wasn ‘ t  and  would  never  be .  fawn  eyes  searching  for  the  right  place  to  stay  at ,  small  cafe  spotted  at  the  corner  of  the  street .  far  away  from  trouble .   ❛   i  am  sorry  but  the  last  time  someone  called  me  normal  was .  i  don ‘ t  even  know .  ❜    laughter  escaping ,  a  funny  finding  in  between  all  of  this  mess .   ❛   you  have  an  atelier  ?  ?  you  never  told  me  !  !  oh  god  i  bet  it ‘ s  full  of  your  wonderful  drawings  and  fabrics  and  !  !  MYGOD  DONNA ,  why  are  you  even  talking  to  me  ?  ?  i  can ‘ t  even  wear  high  heels  !  !   ❜

SHE DIDN’T THINK TWICE BEFORE DECIDING TO FOLLOW THE OTHER WOMAN.    any  place  was  better  than  shield;  as  well  as  any  company  would  be  better  than  agents.    and  so  she  ran,  followed  the  brunette  to  wherever  she  was  leading  her.     “ oh,  i  absolutely  get  that.    i am  quite  a  TALKATIVE  person,  but  considering  i  work  with  people,  i  gotta  listen  as  well. ”     it  was  hard  to  tell  which  one  was  easier,  but  she  guessed  it  depended  on  the  other  person.    THINKING ABOUT IT,  maybe  she  needed  to  work  on  either.

[ ✂ ]     few  people  had  seen  her  within  the  last  few  days.    the  seamstress  had  locked  herself  away,  unwilling  to  be  around  people.    uncertain  about   what  was  happening  to  her,  donna  had  lost  whatever  MINOR PIECE OF CONTROL  over  her  powers  she  had.    whereas  she’d  randomly  experience  a  stranger’s  memory  by  touch  it  now  happened  all  the  time.    all  the  bad  memories  were  flodding  her  own  mind,  and  donna  was  at  a  point  where  she  didn’t  know  what  to  do  anymore.    NIGHTMARES  haunted  her  dreams,  she  didn’t  recall  the  last  time  she  had  actually  slept  through  the  night.     never  before  had  she  felt  that  bad  about  herself,  it  was  absolutely  terrifying.

it  startled  her  to  be  met  by  the  gentle  voice  of  amelia.    god,  when  had  been  the  last  time  she  had  seen  the  other  woman?    as  desperate  as  she  was  to  be  around  her,  she  was  hesitant,  thinking  about  throwing her  out  again.    “ NOTHING IS OKAY. ”    her  voice  was  hoarse,  for  a  moment,  donna  wondered  if  it  even  was  her  own  voice.    hands  clenching  the  blanket  between  her  fingers;  while  not  usually  wearing  her  gloves  at  home,  she  couldn’t  seem  to  bring  herself  to  take  them  off  now.    “ something’s  WRONG  with  me.    i ... oh  i  see  terrible  things!    please,   just  leave  me  alone. ”

GLOVED  HANDS  TO  HIDE  THEIR  TRUE  SELF ,  TWO  WOMEN  ON  THE  SAME  SIDE  OF  LIKE .   being  recognized  by  touch ,  recognizing  others  while  doing  so  —  it  both  had  been  a  burden  to  fragile  souls  not  knowing  how  to  deal  with  gift  given  at  birth .  MUTANTISM  still  a  crime  to  many  people ,  the  wish  to  extinguish  new  species  rising  in  the  mind  of  many .  a  danger  to  the  world  they  called  them .  MONSTERS ,  a  mistake  of  nature  (  but  an  abomination  among  perfect  creatures  inheriting  planet  earth  )  that  would  never  be  accepted  by  society .  WELL .  AT  LEAST  NOT  AS  SOMEONE  STOOD  UP  TO  FIGHT  PREJUDICE ,  to  establish  what  others  were  too  afraid  to  ask  for .  she  would  not  back  down ,  would  not  give  in  just  because  a  piece  of  fabric  was  standing  between  her  and  the  rest  of  the  world .  smile  emerging  on  painted  lips  as  the  other  looked  up ,  facial  expression  soft .  it  was  good  to  have  her  around ,  to  have  someone  to  talk  to  who  UNDERSTOOD  HER  POINT  OF  VIEW ,  who  cared  about  her  beyond  their  shared  workplace .  shield  had  collected  a  bunch  of  weird  beings ,  many  different  characters  for  various  operations  in  every  field  one  could  think  about .  super  human  studies  had  been  hers ,  a  priority  amelia  had  dedicated  her  whole  life  to . THIS  SNOWFLAKE  WOULD  NOT  MELT  AWAY  THAT  EASY .   ❛   oh  believe  me ,  i  have  absolutely  no  energy  sources  for  fighting  somewhere  in  a  stuffy  hall  in  the  basement .  ❜  ,  scientist  answered  jokingly  before  doe  eyes  wandered  to  sketches  on  blondes  table .   ❛   i  rather  wanted  to  ask  you  if  you ‘ d  join  me  for  a  cup  of  coffee  and  some  cake  ?  ?  probably  to  tell  me  about  these  new  designs  of  yours  ?  ?  i  am  still  hoping  for  some  chic  gloves  that  withstand  the  cold  without  getting  all  messed  up .  ❜

being  around  amelia  had  been  good  ever  since  she  had  arrived  at  SHIELD  hq.    interactions  with  mutants  were  rare,  throughout  her  childhood,  her  teenage  years,  most  of  her  adulthood.   for  some  reason,  the  seamstress  had  managed  to  accidentally  avoid  most  mutants  in  close  proximity.    part  of  her  was  glad,  she  imagined  it  to  be  difficult  to  understand  other  mutants  when  she  didn’t  properly  understand  herself.    but  for  some  reason,  she  had  been  absolutely  WRONG  about  it.    understanding  amelia  was  easy.    OH  how  she  admired  the  woman  for  being  of  use  for  something.    just  how  was  donna  supposed  not  to  enjoy  her  presence?
