SO, FROZEN HEART HAS ADDITIONAL VERSES, LINKED TO THIS NEW VILLAIN
Which was quite a surprise to me, but a welcomed one. Frozen Heart was the opening song of the first movie, holding the themes of the story, mainly the contrast between love and fear
Important is also the connection to the main characters of the story, as the concept of the "frozen heart" has different meanings for each of them
Taking a song not of the main cast and giving it a different meaning is not new, as Frozen 2 revealed the Vuelie to be a chant of the Northuldra people:
One of the goals of Frozen 2 was to act as a sort of "part 2" of the first movie, and I think it's clear this is the same approach they are using for the story of F3 (and F4 as its direct continuation).
This also links directly to some of the questions Jennifer Lee showed in 2024:
All of these connections raise some interesting questions: fid the Frozen Heart song originated in consequence of this mysterious new antagonist/villain, which would mean some sort of indirect connection with the traditions of the Ice Harvesters (so maybe even Kristoff)? Was she the previous Fifth Spirit, maybe living inside Ahtohallan itself, reason why we see an actual architecture inside? The connection to the Northen Lights might also relate to the Trolls ajd their? And the whole matter of the "frozen heart" is maybe also bring us back to the events of the first movie? Maybe even Hans involvement? After all it's sang about a betrayed heart, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the matter of Hans betrayal was brought back as a prominent point for Anna (and maybe Elsa) development in contrast to this new foe.
I feel like there is so much they could potentially do that is deeply intriguing me. We don't even know if this new character is truely a full-on evil villain, or a more complex, greyish character with a very dramatic personality. After all one of the main points of the Frozen movies was to always twist the villain in some form, I doubt they will be so straightfoward with a "evil villain" situation.
She referes to Anna and Elsa as the "Famous sisters of Arendelle" which means she heard of them thanks to her magic (the Northen Lights maybe?) or someone told her about them (which would also explain why only now she is appearing)...
Surely I can say I'm super excited for this movie, I don't even think this little teaser will be in the final product as it was presented at D23, after all both previous movies went through many changes even a few months before the official release 👀
