my own small personal idea of abby langdon might disappoint actually, though. i do love when people in fics envision her as a super babe-a-tron 5000, and i think that’s a fair take and probably true and everything, especially fun when you can play up the differences between her and mel that way, but i just find myself picturing a more lauren patten type. i like a tall-ish girl abby, an abby with shorter curly brown hair; the type of short which requires a very specific set of features in order to be flattering. i think abby’s a real cool girl, like an actual girl that is effortlessly cool, because they’re so authentic and funny and unconcerned about how they’re perceived by others. maybe she’s even a chic few two or three years older than frank. maybe she had an indie sleeze phase in high school. i think she knows 0 internet slang, and that she listens to podcasts about things like the architecture of convenience stores. i like to think she has great classic style (hello, a birkin bag), and i like to think she’s arty. like a painter. in terms of my melfrank agenda, i like to think that when her heart heals and she accepts her marriage is/was always doomed (they are a mismatch, and she has been dismayed with his failures), mel king or no mel king, she’ll stop being mad, and stop resisting letting mel king slightly fascinate her. like no matter who you are, and no matter how cool of a girl, i think as women once you share one degree of sexual separation from each other you enter into a contract wherein which you get to watch each other’s instagram stories until you die, and just overall be very curious. i don’t think mel’s on social media, though, so i think it’d be funny if this version of abby i’m just making up (before everything quite inevitably gets refuted by canon in the future seasons) asked her (“no pressure!”) if she could paint her portrait instead.
