I didn't grow up with a silver spoon within a five mile radius of my house. I think that's why I developed a love for music and reading. I could do both for little to nothing.

This is my grandfather holding my older sister. My aunt posted this on Thursday and I can't stop staring at it. He was murdered during the year before I was born but the stories my mom has told me, well, let's just say you didn't mess with Oscar Bradford. Half Irish, half black, 100% thug, he carried a blade in his hat and he and his kids NEVER took the Blacks Only entrance. My mom is one of 14 kids, and they grew up on his farm in Gilmer, TX; he wasn't a sharecropper.
