Nate
: Nate was sat on his bed, back pressed to the headboard as he sat cross-legged looking across the bed at Melissa. She had been avoiding him for days now and he'd finally convinced her to come talk to him. She didn't want to, that much was clear, and Nate wanted to know why. He needed to know why. Things had been going so well and then she just- she just stopped talking to him. "So," he said rather sternly and seriously, "You've been avoiding me. Why?"
Mel: Melissa didn't want to have this conversation with Nate; she didn't want to say it out loud in general because it would make it all real and she had been living in denial since she found out. The last thing she wanted to do was not be around him but she wouldn't be able to handle it if he took things badly and blamed her or hated her. She'd rather deal with it on her own then and cling to the happy memories they made before. She couldn't look him in the eye when he spoke, she just focused on her hands in her lap. "I don't want you to hate me. I couldn't handle if you did."
Nate: Nate scrunched his eyebrows together, scooting forward a bit. "Hey," he said, grabbing her hands with his own, "I could never hate you. Never ever." he said, his voice much softer now, enjoying the feeling of her small, soft hands wrapped in his once again. He wondered what she could think would make him hate her, because honestly, she was his dream girl- his soulmate, and nothing would change the way he felt about her.
Mel: Mel kept her head down and just looked at her hands wrapped in his. She loved the feeling that simple action brought to her, the happiness she felt just by being around him, but she really didn't know if this would change things or not for him and it petrified her. "Nate... I love you. Soo much... But something happened. And now..." She started but stopped herself before the words came out and started to cry softly.
Nate: Nate felt his heart break as she began to cry. "Melissa, I love you too. You know that. Nothing and I mean nothing would ever change that." He used one of his hands to gently pull her chin up so he could see her beautiful face. "Mel, no matter what you say right now, I promise I will still love you as much as I did yesterday, today, and as much as I will tomorrow, okay?"
Mel: Melissa shook her head as he spoke, actually beginning to cry a bit harder at his endeering declarations of love because as much as she wanted to believe them, she wasn't a hundred percent sure. "We made a mistake, that first night we slept together... Neither of us were thinking and we were caught up in the moment... God, how could we have been that dumb!?" She said before finally bringing herself to look him in the eyes. "...I'm pregnant."
Nate: Nate felt his heart drop into his stomach, his eyes still staring into hers. "Pregnant? Like... my baby's in there?" he said, glancing down at her stomach. And even though he was just some dumb Senior who shouldn't have even remotely been happy about knocking up his girlfriend, he was smiling. "My baby's in there." His eyes met hers again, his smile growing as they did.
Mel: Melissa didn't say anything more, just nodded her head when he asked for clarification and braced herself for whatever reaction Nate might have but what she wasn't expecting was for Nate to be okay with it. "Are you okay?" She asked, highly confused as to his reaction, not really sure what to say now.
Nate: "Okay?" he asked, "Yeah. I'm fantastic. I mean yeah, maybe 5 or 6 years later would've been ideal but- but the girl I love is pregnant with my child. Okay is the biggest understatement ever. Did you really think I'd be anger over this, Mel?"
Mel: "I didn't know. Because like you said, this isn't ideal. I'm sixteen. You're seventeen, almost eighteen and we're still in high school. We're not supposed to even think about babies now." She said with a sigh before bringing her knees up to hug her legs. "This changes things and I didn't know if you'd think it was for better or worst."
Nate: "Well, it's not great, obviously. There will be a lot of nay sayers... but I'm happy. Aren't- Aren't you?" he asked softly, trying to search her eyes for an answer.
Mel: "I don't know." Mel said softly with a small sigh before looking at Nate. "I mean it's you and me in a baby. And I already love it just on that merit alone... But we both had plans for after high school, Nate. And yes, we were including one another in those plans, we didn't factor in a baby."
Nate: Nate nodded a bit, "Yeah but... now we are, right?" he asked hopefully. Nate would support Mel no matter what and he'd love her until the end of time but he'd do everything he could to try and keep this baby. In the end, however, he did know it was her choice.
Mel: "I guess we are." Mel said, slightly relieved with how things happened. Melissa didn't think that she could go through any of this without Nathan honestly, even if they had decided to not keep the baby. She didn't think she could go through it in general, let alone not with Nathan.
Nate: "But you.... you know if-" He cleared his throat, "If you wanna, like, not keep it... it's- it's you body."
Mel: "I don't... No.. I can't do it... I can't do that, Nate." She said softly and shook her head. "It's you and it's me and we need to protect it and I just.... No."
Nate: Nate nodded, "Okay, good." he smiled at her softly. "Hey, me and you till the end. No matter what, okay? We'll get through this." he pulled her chin up a bit again, pressing his lips to hers softly in efforts to comfort her.
Mel: Mel sighed and let out the breath that she didn't know she was holding in when he smiled at her. "Yeah, you're right. We'll get through it. And we have each other. So we're good." She said before he kissed her and she wrapped her arms around his neck, letting herself finally relax a bit now that she wasn't holding this secret in anymore.
Nate: Nate deepened the kiss, holding her close. When he pulled back he let his forehead rest on hers. "It'll all be okay, I promise."
Mel: Mel let her hands fall over his shoulders as he pulled back and nodded her head to what he was saying. "It'll all be okay." She repeated before moving so she was in his lap and leaning on his shoulder. "I just realized that we've never actually talked about kids. Except for now. But the rest of the time, not a word."
Nate: "Well, in all honesty Mel, why would there be? Why would we be thinking about babies unless... unless we were gonna have one? And sense we are now, I mean, now we are talking about them."
Mel: "Because we're talking about the future, Nate. Being together, marriage... Kids are the next step in that." She said with a sigh. "Besides this one, how many kids do you think you want to have?"
Nate: "Well..." Nate said, his voice wavering a bit before his tone picked up with excitement as he continued. "I've always kind of wanted a big-ish family, four kids maybe? You know, so there aren't any middle kids but I know I want more than two. And I always really wanted at least one of them to be a baby girl. My baby girl." He let out a small sigh, smiling widely, not only with his mouth but with his eyes. "I'm rambling a bit, sorry. How- How many kids do you think you want to have?"
Mel: She listened to him intently, smiling softly as Nate told her of his dream children. "I've always seen myself with at least 4... Maybe even 6... It all depends."
Nate: "Six would be... amazing." he replied, his smile growing. "You know- I hope this one's a girl."
Mel: So we're gonna have a baby, finish school, get married, and then have 5 more babies? I think I like our plan, babe."
Nate: "Me too." he said, pecking her lips again.
Mel: "So if I'm pregnant again before we're married, we're gonna fight, Nathan." She teased before moving to straddle his waist.
Nate: "Well it takes two to get pregnant, babe." he teased back.
Mel: "Okay so rephrase time... If you get me pregnant before we're married. We're gonna fight." She teased before kissing his neck sensually.
Nate: Nate chuckled before moving his neck to the side a bit to give her more access.
Mel: "Are we clear, Nathan?" She asked pulling away from him slightly and looking into his eyes softly.
Nate: "Clear." he said, nodding a bit.
Mel: "I love you." She then said with a smile and put his hand under her shirt and on her stomach. "For now, our little family is more than enough, baby."
Nate: "I agree. I love you too beautiful."
Mel: "Can we nap now or something? I just want you to hold me for a little bit. We have time to make up for with me avoiding you and all that."
Nate: "Yes. A nap would be amazing."
Mel: "Come on then, lets cuddle." She said before pushing him back on the bed, moving over to his side and wrapping herself around him."
Nate: Cuddling into Mel, he whispered,"I love you, Mel. Goodnight."
Mel: "I love you too, Nate. Night."
