Some Roots are Knotted
I feel like right now my mind is in a lot of different places. Probably cause I’m super tired. Yea that’s probably it. Then again maybe not. I’m debating how honest I should be, and the fact that I’m hesitant to write this probably means I should. So here it is. This evening I went to my cousins house. For those of you that don’t know my aunt and uncle from Brazil moved here about two years ago. It was like a dream come true when they came. I’ve never had any family in the US on either side so yea it was awesome and all of us lived on the same house for about 6 months. So we had 9 people in my house and three of us girls shared a room. And honestly I loved it. I’ve never had sisters so idk I honestly just felt so happy so come home and share a room. But after they moved out things changed. My oldest cousin got blessed but actually doesn’t believe True Parents are the messiah. Idk man oh yea I forgot to mention my cousins are all 2nd Gen so yea sorry then I found out that my other cousin who was 17 at the time was in a “matching” process with this guy in Brazil. And by matching I mean mostly dating. And she kinda kept this a secret from me. Although to this day she says she told me but like I found out from my mom. Anyway to make matters worse my oldest cousin started showing my youngest cousin who just turned 13 a bunch of negitive videos about True Father and honestly she used to be super smart and holy like actually she would always talk about God and mention God everyday. I should also mention she’s super mature and super mature looking. People usually think I’m younger then her. Rip. Anyway this summer she went to Brazil with me and it was supposed to be a really fun trip and a chance to hang out with her one on one. But the whole time she was on her phone taking to this boy. My purity senses were tingling and I could tell something was up. Me and my other cousin (also in the church) confronted her so many times. She always denied that what she was doing was weird and that they were just friends. also this kid she’s talking to, yea he’s 17. Maybe 18 now who knows. Worst part my aunt knew about all of this and yea it’s just bad. Really bad. I’m hoe stay so scared for my cousins and I don’t know what to do. I feel like a failure when it comes to my family. Like I want to witness so badly but even to my own family I can’t explain why they shouldn’t do what their doing or talk about True Parents. What really hurts is they see the time I spend working with the church as a waste. The worst part is that I think my actions make them feel like I care about the church more then I do about them. Which honestly I think I have been prioritizing it. It’s so hard when I go over there and I just feel so uncomfortable. But I know that loving them and hanging out with them is really important not only for them but for our family. Ugh it’s just so difficult. Sorry this is so negative. I guess why I’m sharing this is beacuase sometimes our roots get tangled. Things happen and we can’t connect like we used to. as much as it’s hard my cousins will forever be in my life. It’s the relationship that I’ll always have to work on. As I write this I can almost heat God whispering “just love them, just love them”. In a way this is reminding me of Demian’s talk he gave about church visiting. That all we can do is be present and appreciate the church and pastor and just say thank you.aune that what I need to do with my family. Just be present and appreciate. Just love them where their at and not expect anything to change, or place conditional love on them. Idk I’m super tired like I said earlier maybe I’m going crazy (always a possibility) but anyway I think my closing point is that even if the root is knotted and there’s pain and resentment, we have the power to actually untangle those knots and heal and create stronger firmer roots. “The family is the only institution created by God. It is the school of love where people can learn how to love each other and live together in peace, and it is the training center where we practice how to build a palace of peace in the world.” - Sun Myung Moon
