“Yes. Exactly.” Kokomi’s eyes softened, her heart full and warm to be understood by another person. She’d never left Inazuma, and rarely even ventured outside of Watatsumi Island itself, but as she imagined traveling to places with the shoreline a distant memory, her chest ached with loneliness for it.
She could never leave Watatsumi Island for long, with her position, but in the end that suited her just fine. Besides, if she wanted to know more of the world abroad, she had her books, and she had Lumine.
“Oh, yes. I tend to choose books on military strategy when it comes to reading…” She almost never chose to read anything else. “…but I would be very interested in knowing more about ocean creatures.”
Kokomi returned Lumine’s smile with one of her own.
“Can you guess?” She giggled; she really didn’t intend on making Lumine try to guess at it. “Doesn’t it look like the sun? At sunset? And I found this shell at sunset, too, so it’s something that came to me at just the perfect time. A most serendipitous encounter. And it seems you, too, bring light wherever you go.”
“You should definitely come with me to Sumeru some time. There are so many people you’d get along with greatly! Most people there really appreciate a good talk about really specific topics. You have many expertises to give and a wide range on knowledge - at least I think so. They would love hearing from you and I’m sure you could learn a bunch in exchange as well! And, of course, we could go sightseeing and eat nice things too, if you’d like!” She gave her a wide, encouraging smile. Lumine just thought it would be an amazing experience for the mostly shielded priestress. Get out of her shell, perhaps? Going full circle in their conversation.
The blonde leaned forward and looked closely at the shell she showed her. “Hmmmm..... the color maybe? It’s uhm.... warm?” It wasn’t yellow or white, so she wasn’t sure if it was the color or something else.
Her face lit up when she explained. “Ohhhhh, like that, hehe.. I feel quite flattered..” Her cheeks blushed lightly, but her heart made a happy jump. “You might be exaggerating though, I don’t really think I’m doing something that important.” In some regards, yeah, you could say she did some heroic things.. but bring light everywhere she went? She wasn’t so sure about that. Sure, she tried, but where many people were happy to see her or hear how the traveller solved one of their problems, others despised crossing her way; mostly treasure hoarders, Samurai or Fatui. And those were a lot of people.
