Top MotoGP racers, like any prominent people, from film stars to politicians, tend to assume a public face as a way of protecting themselves from the constant attention. Which means that a picture of them with their guard down can be both fascinating and revealing. The face of a winning Valentino Rossi, for instance, is very different from the one you see when he has been beaten and the jester's mask slips.
