We spent the day in Glastonbury on Tuesday. I have never seen so many hippies in one place. And stores with amulets and singing bowls and tie dye everythings. It was really fun. And the kids loved it. Bought a few trinkets and then we went over to the abbey. It is always quite magical to watch the boys frolic and chase each other through 1000 year old ruins. Big hggr was able to hold a falcon (and do some eye gazing too) and little hggr looked just like Harry Potter holding a very large owl (we've been to Hogwarts--of course he needs his own owl!). Big hggr, Gary and I then decided to go to the top of Glastonbury Tor. A bus took us up half way and then we walked the rest. Amazing views of all of somerset. I tried to meditate for 5 minutes and then we came back down. Totally worth it, even if my calves are ready to drop off. Ended the night at a pub in a small village called babcary, where we ate a ton and had a good laugh. And I learned how to play bar skittles. A really nice day.

The weather was beautiful. The train ride was beautiful. The city was beautiful. Of course, the boys were beautiful. ALWAYS. Both hggrs and I took the train into the city. We were in an empty car and ate a bag of skittles while staring out the window at the Hudson. We walked to the Sony Technology Lab, which was OK. Then big hggr got his haircut--so handsome--and then Gary met us and drove us to dinner. LES. Dok Suni. Lula's. Pinkberry. It's expected now. The boys would protest if we tried to mix it up a little.

Big hggr went outdoor karting again, this time with Stevan, his driving coach (is that right?). Anyway, they left at 8:00 a.m. with a cooler full of gatorade and an enormous duffle bag filled with karting things. Home by 5:00 and we all (including Stevan) got in the pool. IT WAS 95 DEGREES. Stevan said that, in between sessions, they would rest by going into his car, blasting the AC, and playing with his gps. Fun. Oh, and by the way, Stevan said big hggr is GREAT. I'm the proud mom, what can I say?

At least for the kiddos and me, whenever we get sick, it's in the stomach. Little hggr had a case of a bad tummy, so he missed his 2nd day of camp yesterday. Which was fine by him, as he proceeded to watch about 7 hours of TV STRAIGHT. I think my eyes would dry out if I tried that. Off to camp today, and he and his cousin Ryan had so much fun. Big hggr had a chill day with his friend Samuel. Still young enough to giggle the entire morning away. Although, later, in the pool, I got close to big hggr and stared straight at his moustache. That's right. He's got hair above the lip. I could have cried. Then, little hggr had a soccer clinic so off went the boys. This girlie got her nails done. To cap off the night, Gary played soccer tonight with little hggr's coaches and some other folks. Big grin on his face, I know he'll be doing a slow walk to the shower tomorrow morning. Tomorrow: the city.

Woke up early to take LITTLE hggr to camp. Then BIG hggr and I had a vey chill day at home. Went in the pool for a couple of hours. Had lunch on the deck while I quizzed him on his Latin vocabulary. He did really well! Did a science experiment together (MOLECULES!). Played some wii together. Over at 2:30, when we left home to pick up little hggr from camp (which he said was outstanding). The post camp activities included huge mango smoothies, a dentist visit, then home. Did I mention it's over 90 degrees?

Well, after 4 days apart, we all missed each other a lot. So we spent the whole of saturday morning hanging out in the kitchen trading stories. Followed by lots of pool time. Then we did a little shopping in anticipation of little hggr's camp next week. Came home with ribs and fixin's and it was a party. Today was more hanging out. Big hggr went to Dave and Busters to celebrate his best friend's birthday. Little hggr and Gary proceeded to have a marathon day of mostly pool fun and games. Big hggr didn't get home til 8:30, when we began our grand prix festivities. As per our custom, I made fish and chips, and we watched an eventful grand prix and rooted for Lewis. This was a fine weekend.
