Please help us save our home!! My brother, Mother and I moved into this house with our amazing grandparents when we were very young because we would have been homeless otherwise. Since then, we have spent the past 20 years growing up here and offering the space we had as a sanctuary to anyone else...
This is the news that I had dropped on me and have been trying to come to terms with. Long story short, I will be homeless by the end of the year if we do not find some kind of assistance.
I will lose everything. My home, my ducks, my chickens, my cats, my dogs, fish, everything. We have no place to go after this.
My Grandmother was diagnosed with Cancer in 2004, and has managed to fight it every step of the way for 13 years. Despite this, and medical intervention, we are fearful that this year will be her last one with us. Dealing with the heartbreak of knowing that I will lose someone who helped raise me and my brother all this time is hard enough, but we were just surprised with the news that we are in grave danger of losing our home as well because of financial issues. My mother had a workplace injury that she is still battling with and is struggling to find adequate treatment that will allow her to go back to work and start bringing money back into the house. My brother works part time and because of medical issues, is unable to handle the hours and tasks that Full-Time work asks of him, despite trying his best to meet what is asked of him. I am currently looking for work though it is tough for a trans guy with physical disabilities to find work in a conservative area but I offer child care and housekeeping between art commissions. Despite all this, the funds are not adding up and the property taxes threaten to push us out of this place we have called home for almost all our lives.
This place is home to a lot more people than my immediate family.
We opened our spare rooms to help LGBT+ Kids who were disowned have a safe place to rest their heads while they figured out job and housing options. We have saved friends from homelessness with this house. Everyone who has called this place home for all these years will lose their home and I want to avoid that!
If we can meet the property taxes, we will buy time to stay here until we can stabilize ourselves.
