might as well post about this here
My cat, Plomaza, has been sick lately. We went to the veterinary dentist yesterday and checked her mouth, where we saw that most of ploma's teeth are missing and the ones that are left aren't correctly attached to the bone anymore. Her gums are swollen in parts and retracting in others, the dentist said that the bone is infected and is pushing the teeth off.
Her prognosis is a Severe generalized periodontal disease. Due to its severity, we can't really salvage any of the teeth she has left and waiting for them to fall off would be very bad, because she's in a lot of pain π so the solution right now would be a surgery to extract them and properly close the gums. She was prescribed 3 pain relievers that she must take every day until the surgery. She has to get a series of medical tests done first and and depending on the results, her surgery would be approved. The dentist also checked her cardiac rhythm and said she heard an arrhythmia, so we have to go to the cardiologist too or she can't get treatment.
The total sum of her tests, not even counting the cardiologist consultation, would be 140000 CLP ($152.60). The tests have to be done not long before the surgery, so if we want the surgery in March, we must plan accordingly. The surgery would cost 375000 CLP ($408.75) minimum and the anesthesiologist has to be paid 72 hours in advance, which would be 115,000 CLP ($125.35). The treatment in total would cost about 517000 CLP ($563.53), without considering the cardiologist visit and after surgery medicine and care. My friends and I are looking into ways to get all of that money, which is more than the minimum net wage in Chile for one month.
I have physical disabilities and autism, which has made it really hard to get a job, so we depend on my mom for everything money related. She works as a teacher assistant and gets paid less than minimum wage after deductions. My brother is autistic too and has severe food avoidance issues, so she has to buy him nutritional supplements and vitamins that are pretty expensive for her.
I wanted to try and obtain the money by myself, so i opened commissions on Ko-fi with discounted prices and also accepted donations. We have received $109 in donations!! I'm so, so grateful! It makes me emotional how much we received in this time π₯Ί I was so scared for Ploma because I knew we wouldn't be able to afford her treatment but now with your help and the things we are organizing with friends we might be able to give her a better continued life free of pain π my beautiful assistant.
If you want a commission or are able to help us with a few dollars, it would meant the world to me and my Certified Doctor Animal. Reblogging helps a lot too!
