Lessons from Night Vale
I loved the last two episodes of WTNV. The live audience really gave the podcast life. I did not think there was that many followers of the podcast because of its odd content. These podcasts disproved my assumption. I loved Cecilās announcement of his revolution and the reaction from the crowd. I was more engaged in the two episodes because of the live audience. I also like the variety of different characters and voices that the last two episodes provide, such as Hiram, the Faceless Old Woman, Strex Corp representatives, Carlos, Tamika, and advertisements. The podcasts help us answer the many questions that we had in past episodes, such as what are the motives of Srex Corp and what they are going to do for Night Vale, where Dana is and what she feels, and where Carlos is and what his findings were. I have noticed that the main theme of these episodes is how big corporations (Strex Corp) and political leaders (Hiram and the Faceless Old Woman) take control of their citizens and their freedoms. WTNV is definitely helped my listening skills and perfectly represents the idea of existentialism. Ā
Lesson from Night Vale
These last two episodes were my favorite. We learned so much from Cecil, his crew, and Night Vale civilians. Thanks so Cecil and the community, StrexCorp retrieved from the town. What I found fascinating is- the commitment to find the answers,Ā to figure out what was going around them and overall, to save their town.Ā
TheseĀ were such a hilarious podcast to end our class with. Cecilās Revolution was possible, Dana became Mayor, Cecil kept the radio show. Above all, when they told Cecil that his revolution was meaningless, it reminded me of the Vogons when they told Author and Ford- Resistance is useless- and both still survived and won. Everything that was done by Cecil to help Night Vale town was to make people come alive and fight for who they were regardless of those in power becauseĀ we together have the power!
My reflection
We are almost done. Time flew in this class. I have to be honest, out of 3 English classes I have taken here at UCR, this is the best one. I was not stressed in many times in the contrary I enjoy every class- it's topic, themes, discussions and of course the fact that I learn about a new thing, existentialism. Although I was shy to talked I still enjoyed it anyway.. I think that professors are the one who make their classes interesting and of course Ms. B did a great job she's definitely getting some really really good comments for Evals... Now let's see how our last days turn out and good luck to everybody. We have learn so much this quarter and out writing will prove it.
Jean Paul Satre
"To exists is simply be there; those who exist simply let themselves be encounter, but you can never deduce anything from them" (Satre) I'm so amazed and puzzled at this reading. What a way to describe existentialism- through a feeling! I know the expert might seem really depressing but that's exactly how Satre found the meaning of his life. It seem that he lived a very hard life who experience death in my ways. It it's actually very important to point out the time in which this expert was publicized, 1938 a time of social and economical difficulties that made life harder to live and understand.

Yes the answer to life is 42!!!! Because no matter were you go, no matter on what side the planet you are, it will take you 42 minutes to find out our existence..
I chose this song because it reminds me of all the yellow things that appeared in both the podcast and the book. It's a very relaxing song too.
The End?
If we think that life is a constant process of dying, then The Hitchhikerās Guide to the Galaxy Show us this all throughout the novel. I was expecting so much more on the end, but I guess thatās the point- we are always coming up with more questions than answers! In reality thereās no question not answer to the meaning of life!!!
We have come to the end and I'm more lost than ever! The computer is dead, the ship committed suicide. Frankie and Benjy want Author's brain too really find an "answer" Why this absurdity is not making sense? I'm guessing we read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to keep our minds thinking, like Adams said: But thinking on what still? I believe that we don't have to go beyond our understanding to find meaning because each head is a world and each thinks differently and that folks is uniqueness, a piece of many things that build up ourselves as one.Ā
Do you think that the three essentialĀ questions; how, where and why that AuthorĀ read in the Guide are simple ways to run a universe (life)
Brainstorm for Paper 4
For this paper, I would like to talk about two main characters, Cecil and Zaphod. I want to discuss the importance to Night Vale (Desert) and Heart of Gold (Space) regarding ālife tragediesā they both offered to the theme of absurdity. Ā However, I'm still confused where my paper in going to lead! I hope I can work something out to express my ideas. Ā

One of the best books I ever read was āBurro Geniusā by Victor VillaseƱor This book made cried in come of its chapters the story of this young kid recalled the endurance that kids whose first language was not English. Victor had a medical problem that unfortunately made him struggle in his learning. He was called burro (donkey), because he couldnāt speak perfect English. Victor experienced discrimination, bullying and racism. However, his persistence and intelligence gives the readers the biggest lessons in life; Donāt define your intelligence by othersā opinion, define you intelligence by hard work and determination. This book has definitely impacted my life so much. I made me feel connected to the same struggle I experienced when I first came to this country 9 years ago. I highly recommend this book, there will be no regrets but enjoyment.
My Question?
Why do we keep searching for answers? We must admit that there will always be more questions than answers.Right! Not even knowing them all will stop our questions. Whenever I think of this class and our theme it makes me realized how society has always tried to named everything or know everything. There's no need. My point is that there's nothing to keep looking for. We are here to live. We are here to exist. We are here to leave a trait. We are here to symbolized what love is. We are here because of God'd choice. Period.
HHG
I found very interesting that the planet Magrathea is not death that it's habitants are just sleeping! How ironic? The old man (Slartibartfast) seems to be helping Author because he tells him that being late means literary going to die. Building the second and new planet will bring life back. In chapter 25 I was somewhat concussed because it said that the Earth was not created by God, that the giant computer will solve the question of life? If that was the case are we still looking for an answer to existentialism in the Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy?
Explain a concept
How do the title, epigraph, opening paragraphs help you identify this focus or main point?
Titles are always a significant hint that tells you about the content or something relevant to the text. For me, the title is one of the most revealing communicating tools thatās within any writing piece. For instance in this essay, Love The Right Chemistry after reading the title I knew I will be reading about love and the chemistry of love. Therefore, the title and opening paragraphs are just introducingĀ the main focus of the essay; Love is more than a feeling or mental sentiment, whereas thereās a chemical significance that happens whenever we expressed or feel āloved.ā
Each one of us is alive for a reason Each one of us has a purpose So don't think you are one more human being in this universe . Life is a gift, enjoy it.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Everyday Connections
I believe that everything in our lives is made up of choices. Choices are good and bad but it all depends on its purposes. We find things interesting but others might not and thatās where āchoiceā makes each one of us unique. I also believe that choices are influenced by our believes, religion, logic, and understanding of life. For example, I have made the choice to persuade a medical career and because of my choice Iām proud to announce that Iāll be capable of saving a life. Therefore, may God blessed my hands and mind to help people because my choice is making me choose my passion. The choices of today will be history tomorrow. The future is unknown but our choices will lead us.
