Down with comercialized witch trials!

Can the computer create something? At first glance it seems obvious that it can. Animated computer graphics, with their fluid transitions and whiplash perspectives, look strikingly new. And if one watches the machine doing animation work, there seem to be lengthy periods when the computer is acting “on its own.”

But if one observes these processes in more detail, it becomes clear that creation is not occurring within the machine. First of all, computer graphics are not unique. Computers have yet to generate anything that cannot be done by hand—and usually already has been done. Second, the apparent ability of the computer to “act on its own” is the outcome of thousands of hours of patient human effort to refine its instructions. The computer can manipulate a shape for us if we have already informed it what a shape is, what the rules for shape manipulation are, what this specific shape is, and so forth.

Originally I was going to post a detailed version of this Nanofather page in my sketchbook from 3 years ago. But then I thought why not redraw that design entirely?

Some design notes!

-After the bit of lore we got from the Ephemera arc, I was inspired by Merlon and other fortune tellers from the Paper Mario series! I liked the idea of their glowing eyes peaking through the hood of the cloak, and I could see the Nanofather having that design element too

-Since he's a crucial element to the story and the park, I thought it'd be a fun detail for the Nanofather's hooded shawl scarf to be held by a Steeplechase pin. Also because of foreshadowing iykyk

due to various timelines and crossovers, characters are placed at the age they were around the start of their story (in most cases, this is the start of the campaign they were in, though there's a couple weird ones - and bertrand bell was impossible to decide so i put him at his search for grog age)

a star on the character portrait means we only have an approximate age for this character, so my best guess may be a couple years off. i also haven't watched c3, so apologies for any mistakes there, i am using the wiki!

conclusions i can draw from this:

c4 has the most middle aged characters

but c3 has the eldest distribution overall

27 is apparently the ideal age to start adventuring

@walterthemelon yeah, hal and thaisha's kids are all adventuring age themselves, alogar is also in that 27-28 pile, shadia's 25, and hero (while not thaisha's kid) is 18
