he hears her CONCERN before she reaches him, though does not move unnaturally. he enjoys coming here to listen and to watch. so many hurried bodies rushing up and down the street wearing last month’s PRADA and cheap, tarnished PEARLS. he’d seen at least four businessmen sit near him, clacking away at a spreadsheet on their laptops like the sad, mortal DRONES they were.
the warmth in lestat’s hands had long-since DISAPPEARED, and his hands now sat pristinely along the bottom of the decorative mug. one clawed finger-tip spun around the rim, tapping it lightly to get that irritating clinking sound that he loved.
❝ that won’t be necessary, thank you. ❞ perhaps a little more CURT than he would’ve liked. but it was growing LATE and he was both tired and hungry– a horrible combination to those who knew him. the VAMPIRE turned to flash her a smile, lips spread into a thin line, and he peeked over his sunglasses to reassure her. ❝ i find that when cooled, you can savour the flavour more aptly. ❞
One thing she did enjoy about this place was the easy flow of the atmosphere and the various forms of crowds from high class down to the very low. When male patron spoke she kept a light smile across her face, even still as he lower his glasses to allow her to meet bright blue hues that held a dazzling sparkle, yet Mikaela continued to come off as unfazed by the fascinating color. Once he finishes speaking she nods, “I understand. I just wanted to be sure; please continue, I did not mean to bother you, Sir.” Movement out the corner of her eyes made her avert her gaze out the window to an old man, homeless by the look of it with his hand out begging passing civilians for change.
Two woman and two men walked by and just laughed at him while shaking their heads at his plea for salvation. It stung her heart and made her brows furrow, “Excuse me.” She says before moving away from the table to go behind the counter and began to prep a warm cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows, a grilled chicken sandwich, and a blueberry muffin. The process too about eight minutes to complete before she dug into her back pocket to pull out some money, putting her money into the cash register to pay for what she just created.
She takes everything within her hands and make her way towards the exit. She was greeted by cool night air once she opened that glass door; clearing her throat she calls out to the stranger and extends the beverage and food out to him. The poor man nearly wept as trembling hands graciously took the food and gave her a warm embrace in return. Mikaela returns his hug and tells him to have a safe and blessed day before departing whilst the man sat on the bus stop and began to eat the food she prepared. Once inside she took her place behind the counter again and began to clean it off while humming Bon Jovi silently to herself.
