Tears. Nothing but tears.

The Little Mermaid has been my favorite Disney princess since the age of 4, and I’ve had the toys, the blankets, the clothes, and the theme of birthday parties surrounding this character. And I sometimes felt weird about it cause a lot of people would expect me to say Princess Tiana would be my favorite, etc. But now, as a black girl, newly adult, and with LOCS, I have never felt so good in my life. This movie is about to be a game changer for me personally and I will be the first person to buy a ticket.

With that being said.

For all the racists and ignorant ass people out there that are complaining about this movie… STAY AT HOME. I don’t care. If you still got that stick up your ass, then don’t come bitch. Stay at home, and watch the cartoon. We don’t need y’all at the theaters or on social media ruining the vibes. Stay the fuck at home, we won’t need you nor would we miss you. Your opinion is invalid and just plain stupid.

You know why?

Because you don’t make fucking sense.

“Ariel should be played by a Danish actress.”

I am 98.9% that Jodi Benson, the original Ariel, is not fucking Danish. So isn’t the other actresses from other adapations of The Little Mermaid.

“Then it should be fine to have a white actress play Tiana.”

Look how you stupid you sound. First of all, if you ever took the time to open a book or Google, then you would’ve known that Tiana is actually inspired by a real-life person—a black person. And second of all, Tiana’s story literally stems from a black experience during the early 1900s, which dealt with segregation and racism. Like…. make that make sense.

Ariel’s race does not fucking matter. You know why? She’s a fucking FISH. And, it’s not an important factor. Her hair and her voice is. And from the looks of it, they got the red hair and they DEFINITELY got the voice.

Disney isn’t being “woke”, they’re just late to the damn program, like EVERYBODY else. Diversity should’ve been happening, before the 2000s. Half of the Disney Princesses should have been people of color already. We should have been had original black stories. We should’ve been had good representation.

Think about it. You are sitting there, grown as hell—because I doubt the little kids are complaining—mad that a mermaid isn’t white.
