      “does anyone actually use that word anymore?” jack shifted on his feet and took a drink from the cup sitting on the counter. “how’s life been lately? you ask me like i have some kind of deep dark secret that i want to hide. life has been shit. the bar is falling apart and the cops are constantly in and out of my apartment building. it’s shit.” 

          jack stood up as the other boy sat down, dumping his food into the small trashcan and sighing. “jackass, it is hooch. we just call it something else so our liquor license isn’t questioned.” 

              “i take it that you don’t really understand the meaning of a lunch break when someone’s working do ya ??” jack smirked while taking bites from the chinese food stuffed into a styrofoam container, glancing over at the figure standing in the hallway. “if you’re needing a drink, go find ed. i know that old fat bastard is around here somewhere.”

I am currently enrolled at Arcadia Community College, pursuing my business degree. I am currently unemployed.

Tell us, in your own words, what you were doing in the hours prior to the accident, what you saw of the accident and what happened afterwards.

I was at home with my two younger brothers, Jorge and Manny. My mom was working a shift at the diner. As for the accident, I wasn’t actually there. I was putting.. I was putting my clothes back on. I had been dared, to uh... streak. After, I went straight home and didn’t hear about what happened until the next morning.

What is your connection with those involved in the accident?

I went to school with Holden and Taylor, they were in my biology class my freshman year at Arcadia High School. I hadn’t talked to them in years. I barely recognized Holden. 

At what time did you see the accident happen?

I didn’t see the accident. 

What attracted your attention to the accident?

Nothing. I didn’t know it happened. 

What was the weather at the time of the accident? Was it clear outside? Was it rainy or smoky? What were the winds conditions (velocity, gusty)

It was a pretty decent night. 

What actions did you take at the accident site?

None??

I think they do. But there was like a whole bunch of people there. Some of them I didn’t even know. Imagine how I feel, they all saw my balls.

What do you think was the main cause of the accident?

I heard whoever dared them was drunk and wasn’t thinking. I’m not really sure but maybe some underlying issues?

I think there might be proof of me streaking on twitter, so that’s my alibi.

  AJA WHIPPED AROUND, TURNING AWAY FROM the bottles of five hour energy that she had been eyeing     if she wanted to get an a her exam the next day, she was going to have to stay up later than normal to do some last minute studying. shifting the basket of food she had already picked up onto her other arm. almost immediately, she caught onto his mistake, and her lips twisted upwards into an amused half-smile, half-smirk. ❛ no, they don’t. do they pay you to mistakenly call out people? ❜ she eyed the man across from her     he looked vaguely familiar     as she dropped a four pack of the caffeine shots into her basket.

except for work and the rare social outing, the only other place gwyn frequented was the store to buy food. thankfully, the store wasn’t too close from her job so buying snacks on break didn’t seem like too big of a feat. she was heading to the register with a handful of snacks when someone spoke to her. “do i look like i work here?” gywn asked, gesturing to her body which was covered in light blue scrubs. “are you looking for something or is the cashier just missing again? she’s always drifting around the store with her boyfriend. i guess some would call it cute unless you’re in a rush or opposed to shop lifting,” she half-joked.

“the thought of shoplifting a burrito does not make me feel real good. actually it gives me war flashbacks.” max had lifted candy once in his life, but it ended tragically once his mother found out. while he thought he would end up spending the night in juvie, he actually had to work a weekend stocker shift at the store. looking back, he wished they would have offered him a spot in juvie for 24 hours. 

“god, i’m sorry. i feel like an ass even assuming someone that looks like you would even work in a dump like this. it’s late and i just really want a fucking burrito, y’know?” max felt annoyed, why wouldn’t the actual employee of the night be accessible. “once again, i’m terribly sorry. max, by the way.”

MAX felt the heat rush to his cheeks. the girl in front of him looked like she belonged somewhere far, far away from arcadia — while he looked like a garage band poser in his black sabbath shirt and tattered shoes. his glasses began to slide down the bridge of his nose as he looked at her. “my bad  — i was, no. no, it does not look like you work here.” raising his hands up, max backed away slowly, keeping his gaze toward her face. "go on, enjoy your life. i'll be over here, contemplating how i can embarrass myself more. no worries."

max is legit that kid in high school that would do anything to make someone laugh whether he’s acting immature or like an absolute idiot. he wants to make people laugh.

he’s currently enrolled in the community college and plans on getting his degree in business bc he feels like he’s turning into one giant cliche that ends up bald and has three kids that all hate him and are like this isn’t a phase dad we really hate you.

he has two little brothers that adore him. his mom works two shifts at the diner in order to make it work as a single mom with two young boys and a max.

he’s very observant like dude can tell when you’re straight upset and trying to play it off like nah im good it’s all rainbows and kittens. he’ll be like lol bitch pls.

he has ADHD and often jumps from one thing to another before he can finish the first thing.
