            “  You didn’t just hit me.  ”

She didn’t want to LISTEN to him talk, but here she was, goading the conversation on. Fingers tugged at a bloodstained sleeve, dragging it further down her arm to her palm. Her nails bit into the fabric and held it there for a split second before releasing it in a nervous habit.

God, it’s hard trying to think of what to say. Her thoughts were jumbled, snapping back and forth between one thing and then next. Hannah and Beth… attacking both herself and Chris… attacking Sam… punching her ( although she was responsible for stabbing him with scissors, but she had panicked )… and then the second trick. The second prank with the saws and… and the whirring and the GUN—

No matter a prank or not, no matter the intentions, the trauma would still be there. An apology couldn’t wipe away the things he had done and give him a clean slate. Not like that. Even with the circumstances.

            “  Special effects weren’t hitting Sam and… and                Chris. You weren’t responsible for Jessica, but                you still did awful, awful things. God, I don’t…                I can’t just ignore that. Hannah and Beth wouldn’t                have WANTED this.  ”

Their names sting her tongue. She felt guilty for bringing them up. Maybe that’s why she made no move to leave, but rather crosses her arms and curls in on herself.

           “  …But I-I don’t know. I don’t know, Josh.                I don’t know anymore. I mean you scared me.”

                “I just... I want my sisters back!”

He didn’t mean to raise his voice higher than intended. It was hard for others to understand him. Except Sam. She understood him. Better than even Chris. She meant everything to him. He wished Ashley could understand. Didn’t Chris tell her he’s... not right? Hot tears stream down his face and he gave a hiccup as he tried to catch his breath.

                “I don’t know how it got so violent. I just                 wanted to scare you guys. I... don’t leave                 me. Don’t GO!. Please stay! Hannah I’m                 sorry don’t be mad. Beth... Beth please,                 please!”

Josh clutched at his head trying to fight his sister’s voices. ( Way to have his mental break down at a time like this ). They hated him for sure for what he did. That was no prank—he had no idea what to call it. Maybe torture? It was his world but twisted. Wasn’t that enough for them to see he needed help?

                     “You guys hate me....”

                                                            he breathed.

[ text ]: A Disney princess dress arrived today. When did I order it?

[ text ]: All I have in my fridge is eggs.

[ text ]: THERE IS A STRANGER IN MY HOME and xhe is politely asking for beer.

[ text ]: All my underwear is gone.

[ text ]: I just got mistaken for a porn star.

[ text ]: Who's house am I in?

[ text ]: I've been waiting for three hours and you're still in the bathroom.

[ text ]: I have a collection of stolen doorknobs.

[ text ]: Police just asked me where you are. You should hide.

[ text ]: I think you underestimated the power of vodka. You told me that rainbows were a conspiracy.

[ text ]: There's a huge ass hole in my couch. It's bigger than my butt.

“  Look, I don’t want to… to talk to you, okay?  ”

She doesn’t. She doesn’t even want to LOOK at him. Every time she does, she doesn’t see him for who he is, or who he was. No, there’s just false memories of a death he didn’t endure, screams that weren’t meant. A giant JOKE. A PRANK gone wrong. But he had survived, and survived again. He’d made it out safely like the lot of them.

                (    Yet she hates him so much. There was sympathy, for how                       he’d lost his family. She’d been part of the reason why that                       had happened in the first place. But now there’s nothing.                       There may never be anything again.   )

              “  You hit me. You— you played TRICKS                   on us, Josh! You made us think that you                   were dead and I don’t want you near me.                   Why don’t you go find Sam or Chris. I’m                   sure they’d love to talk to you.  ”

              “Please,” 

his voice cracked. He understood the hostility in her voice. He understood her anger. All he wanted was to get back at them. His sisters were gone and there was no way to get them back. He was just lucky to make it out with them alive. He could feel his CHEST tighten, it was hard for him to breathe. 

                       How can he explain himself? Would she even listen                        to him? Wasn’t his actions a clear cry for HELP? He                        wanted to cry really badly. He doesn’t even know where                        to begin to redeem himself. He just wanted to get back at                        them. How did it become so violent?
