A Study in Fear Inquiries Welcome

It's a gift bag, each item carefully placed and covered with tissue paper, as it's easier than embarrassing herself trying to wrap it all. Including a hat made of straw, of course: a new pair of sunglasses, as he was often complaining on the few sunny days in Gotham: and a new Hawaiian-esque shirt covered with cartoony skulls, bubbles and flasks. Like what a dorky chemist wears on Halloween.

Why did she pick this particular Sunday to give him all this? There's no reason to look into, she swears.

Crane opens the gift, half expecting it to be a bomb of some sort. Or maybe a framed copy of Riley's degree.

He doesn't expect what could be gear for a nice trip to a lake. Or beach. It is getting hot enough that Freeze might sabotage the summer weather with a freak blizzard. Maybe it would be good to get away for a bit.

"If this is a request for a vacation..." he trails off, trying on the hat and sunglasses with the care of a man who is sure they're going to shatter at the slightest touch. They do not shatter; they fit. He's sure the shirt will as well. "Approved. I haven't gone swimming in too long. You do know how to swim, don't you? If not, I will teach you when we get to the lake."

"Don't worry about it." A hand is pressed over his eye, but it doesn't do much to stop the blood. He's going to have to figure out how to function without it. But that's for later.

His free hand grabs for Riley, tugging her by her shirt. "We survived, but that might not have been the only explosive. Come; we can't stay here." He's already moving, tugging her along whether she wants to go with him or not. There's no time for anything else.
