Music producers! Iâve just joined a fledgling Soundcloud collective started by Michael Mikkelsen, where every month someone assigns a two hour production challenge, and you have a week to come up with the goods.
This is the group:

The first challenge was to make something from a snippet of âPalladiumâ by jazz fusion band Weather Report.
This is what I made from it in 2 hours by microsampling:

The group is open to anyone, especially friends of members. Join!
When I'm not doing music, I sometimes like to do music and sound for moving images. How about this sweet little Transport Tycoon-like animation by Adam Wells?
Some very inspired, quick turn around remixes by dc Sux and NIGHT on this playlist. Oh, I quite like my own reworking of Writing When Drunk too.Â

Iâd been waiting long enough for someone to remix one of my tracks, so hereâs a remix I did myself. Possibly better than the original!Â
Yep, itâs another new one, produced using Hemingwayâs âwriting when drunkâ formula. More in the pipeline, so check back soon. #writingwhendrunk Â
Listen/purchase: Something (About You) by mikkelsen
Difficult to get enough of this!
Stealing from left, right and centre, this track's inspired by / contains more or less overt references to Caribou (the 'vocals'), Jon Hopkins (the bassline, which took age to crystalise), The Field (the love of repetition) and Trentemøller (the dub-like intro and outro). I'm sure  trained and knowledgable ears will spot many more fragments in there, but those are the big ones I would mention / openly admit to.

WBR Suggests: Caius - Without You
Since Monday we have been feeling exceptionally laid back, thanks to this smooth number from Copenhagen based Caius. The Danish 20 year oldâs Soundcloud is peppered with super chilled-out tracks and âWithout Youâ is the latest in a collection of sophisticated heavy-bass electronic music. The use of Ashantiâs âFoolishâ vocals drench this track in nostalgia and tie it in nicely with the producerâs popular releases (Make U Mine, Things Gonna Be OkayâŚ). Recent conversations with Caius reveal that he is focussing heavily on production, so with any luck we may see some more releases soon. 9/10
My track "Spoons" got picked up by the Beyond Synth show/podcast. Have a listen.
Not so much an EP as the culmination of a number of infrequent, long-haul collaborative efforts under the Lira/Mikkelsen guise. Four tracks developed over nearly three years worth of on and off working together with Brighton-based Ivar Lira, AKA ProtoPlanetDisko. #Pop? Yep. #Electronic? But of course. A bit #Emotional? Sure. #Melancholic? Oh yes, indeed. #Chilled? That it is. Catchy? Weâd like to think so - listen to find out for yourself! Â Â Â
My remix of âOnly Humanâ by Plum. The reworked version of the track is robotic, synthetic and at times ghost-like, but thanks to the vocal, it retains the organic character of the Portishead-like original. Make sure to check out Plumâs other tracks - follow the link below to a bunch of good ones:Â

If like me you're wondering what happened to the brilliant Lassi Nikko a.k.a. Brothomstates, then this one's for you. At least as cool as a pair of ripped jeans and with a sample of someone deeply intellectual thrown in for good measure. Amen.
My synth-overloaded reworking of Platform and Lu Angel's 'Wake Up'.
