Artemis.

“Goddess of nature, childbirth, wildlife, healing, the hunt, sudden death, animals, virginity, young women and archery” = a forgotten god reshaped to live on in what remains of nature.

Now only in her animal form of a giant boar (as a symbol of both the hunted (herbivore) and the hunter (sharp tusks), its tusks can grow into deer antlers), badly injured but still standing, silent and forbidding. 

Now humans hunting for survival has died out, she has gone back to the woods to live as the only creatures still hunting today (animals). Incredibly cruel around the remaining human hunters (rich western ‘doctors’ who go hunting in Africa get killed very quickly for bastardising her domain) purposefully gets herself caught in placement traps to trigger them empty - “you hunt for survival, not trophy”. Her body is always scarred if not freshly injured, spears and bullet holes riddle her back and legs, get too close and her infections pass on fatal illnesses if not treated. Doesn’t talk and only grunts, but never roars, only her godly relatives can hear her silent voice. When called for in a rare hunt, follows the hunters & watches from the shadows - when they succeed she allows them to ‘kill’ her so her blood spills bounties of fresh meat, weapons and gold; when they fail, she kills them. 

Her temples are lost to the wilderness - “her pillars are trees, her altars are stumps”, sticks to the woods, but will emerge when called by her brother where she rests in his place. 

Apollo.

“God of oracles, healing, archery, music and arts, light/sun, knowledge, herds and flocks, and protection of the young” = a tortured artist - the typical self-tortured soul that produces artworks very rarely but always amazingly done, very erratic in style and emotions, a bi-polar mess.

A lanky long haired hermit, partially nude (wears EITHER a shirt or trousers, never both) a constant golden glow to him even when sick with sorrow.

The dark shadow of every modern artist = a hermit by choice who insists they are a hermit by force. Freelancer for art group art exhibitions and music pieces for media; never thinks his paintings are complete and likely to make an orchestral masterpiece for a commercial jingle. Too many ideas to focus on, which forces him to delay any work he needs to do. Quiet around unfamiliar company but worryingly open around those he’s comfortable with. A touchy guy with high stimulation - always hugging and holding those comfortable with him. Passes through lovers as calmly as Wuthering Heights’ Heathcliff - lavishly obsessed with his current lover (sometimes against their will) and dangerously depressive when the relationship ends. His love life is heavily impacted by Hyacinthus’ death. 

Lives in a two room apartment with highly squalid conditions, all that’s kept neat and tidy is art equipment (paints & canvases) and instruments (strings, pipes and keys). Has a secret garden in an allotment, grows every flower and tree that was once his lover.
