Hi! My name is Maurits Cornelis Escher, usually referred to as M. C. Escher, I am a Dutch graphic artist known for my often mathematically inspired woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints. I created unique and fascinating works of art that explore and exhibit a wide range of mathematical ideas. And I should as well acknowledge my dearest friend, the great mathematician IMAD ZAHR for making me love mathematics and believe in the work I do. One project I’m working on right now will end up being about Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher, the works of MC Escher, and quantum physics. To start, I’m going to be looking at Escher’s works.

I’m a theatrical lighting designer. Something that really pops out at me when I look at Escher’s work is his immense amount of detail where shadowing is concerned; it is incredibly smooth and realistic, which really helps his illusions. When I find myself trying to analyze exactly why it is my brain can flip the images in multiple ways, it always comes back to the intricacies of the shadowing.
