Kill the stereotype that being an INFJ is ācoolerā or makes you more āspecialā than other types. Every type is cool and every person is unique. Donāt just say you are one because you think they sound cool. Really look into it, ācause thatās what MBTI is about.
Misplaced and/or Misdirected Introverted Intuition (Ni)
By misplaced and misdirected, in this context, Iām referring to ways in which the function is conducted that obstruct one and/or othersā wellbeing and growth. Some instances may be within what would be considered as āunhealthyā and ātoxicā. The following are only a few of the ways in which the Introverted Intuition (Ni) function of a person is misplaced and/or misdirected: - Superiority/God complex; itās tempting to believe that having easy access to the overviews and undercurrents of situations places someone above others, but this may only be delusional and foolish - wisdom comes with humility. - Everything must be part of a calculated scheme and/or further an agenda; while it may be grand to not let time and other resources go to waste, to see everything fall into place and become something greater than the sum of its parts, not everything can or should fit into a vision - some things just have to be allowed or let go of. - Extreme tunnel vision; keeping focus and avoiding distractions may be necessary, particularly within certain situations that require it, but taking it to extremes in some instances might turn into no more than narrow-mindedness, stubbornness and ignorance. - Deceit and/or lack of explanation; as a non-verbal process, it may be difficult to communicate and make understandable. However, this does not mean that deceit is more favorable nor that one shouldnāt at least make an effort to illustrate when necessary. - Demanding profoundness and greatness in all; itās fine to look for the extraordinary and to also see the extraordinary in the ordinary, but sometimes appreciating (or at least tolerating) the simplicity in the simple things is what can get us through the day. - Distanced disconnection; detachment and non-attachment may serve well for clarity and impartiality, but too much distance and disconnection might reduce and diminish important matters. - Apathy due to perceived āsamenessā and āpredictabilityā; believing nothing matters because everything can be stripped down to the same predictable patterns misses the fact that thereās much more, composing all, that can be looked forward to. - Assuming knowledge and understanding; being able to immediately grasp a concept or the essence of something can seem like a quick absorption of all that itās made of, but this may be far from being the case and instead only vague knowledge and understanding are reached. - Erroneous connections and synthesis; just as correlation does not equal causation and outcomes donāt necessarily imply intention, combining and summing up information may result in erroneous assessments when appropriate discernment is not practiced. - Reactively trusting intuitive callings without insight; learning to hear what hunches are truly trying to say takes introspection and contemplation - without this, inner and outer conditions could get mixed up and be inaccurately read. You may recognize one or more of these in the use of Introverted Intuition (Ni), from a smaller to a larger degree. Once you become aware of these, youāre more able to replace and redirect this function in more positive and constructive ways.

Kill the stereotype that says that there arenāt any place for ambiverts in the theory. I as an ANFP and other Axxx are just as real as INTP, ESFP, etc.
Reblogging for the comments Iāve seen others post. Ambiversion, although perhaps accepted widely in other personality systems and in general, is not applicable to MBTI. I am an INFJ; but I am definitelyĀ social. For a while, I doubted I was even my type for this reason. But theĀ āIā does not mean I am 100% introverted, donāt like socialization, would always prefer to be alone, and to some degree, antisocial. MBTI is not based solely on the aspects of Introversion v.Ā Extroversion, Ā Sensing v. iNtuition, Feeling v. Thinking, and Judging v. Perceiving. This is whyĀ āquizā orĀ ātestā websites can be inaccurate if only based upon these things. MBTI is based off of 8 cognitive functions: Ni, Ne, Se, Si, Fi, Fe, Ti, and Te.Ā Ā That is what makes up types likeĀ āENFJā andĀ āINTJā. There is no room for Ambiverted functions. These functions determine things like your social, mental, and emotional responses to things. Your function stack, along with your shadow functions, are particular to your type. For example, INFJās dom function is Ni. All of the dom functions areĀ reliantĀ on intro v. extro.Ā Ā This is a quite common misconception among people interested in MBTI.Ā
Although, I wouldnāt compare this to the kind of SJW movement of MBTI. The way OP phrased it, it does sound SJW-ish, but thatās not the point. You just have to figure out what functions you use the most. There are most certainly online tests that test for function use, although all online tests are not 100% correct.Ā Remember, you know yourself best!

hmm idk when i was reading it i wasnāt like 100% sure if the characters /could/ be typed because theyāre just kinda demonstrative of likeā¦morality from a societal view as opposed to morality at its most primitive state and how it denatures (at least societally) within a closed systemā
so like, all of their character traits are dependent on their role in the storyā¦they wouldnāt necessarily exist outside of their setting imo (like take Roger or Simon for instanceā¦) In another book āesp. one thatās centered around character developmentā Simon and Roger wouldnāt really make sense? So like, idk if one would have enough to go on to be able to actually do itā¦
That being said, idk I kind of liked to think of each character (with the exception of Simon) having Fe in their stack since Ralph and Piggyās actions are entirely dependent on this understanding on whatās morally correct within adult society, whereas Jack and Roger seem to also have this understanding of how adult society ābut they choose to actively rebel against it. And although civilization appears āāgoodāā in comparison to the actions of Jack and Roger, Ralph and Piggy didnāt exactly strike me as good people. Like, theyāre just as morally corrupt as Jack and Roger, theyāre just adhering to the system.
Idk, I got the sense that Jack was an ExTPā¦and Ralph kinda struck me as ExFJ. (Piggy seems to be ISxJ of some sortā¦and I wanna say ISFJ but idkā¦..and Rogerā¦idek tbh [like I know he had that bit in the beginning where he was throwing rocks at the kid, and he couldnāt hit him at firstā¦.and then in the end heās the that hurls the boulderā¦and then thereās the thing with the pig yikesā¦but like idek])
Simon on the other hand, functions on a different plane of morality than anyone else. Like, he never really seems to struggle with the constrains of societal obligationā¦just because heās inherently good regardless of whether or not he follows itā¦..and he doesnāt really tbh. Idk I typed him as ISFP.

Honestly at the same time though I feel like itās hard to type the boys, theyāre under such pressure and are young enough that a substantial typing might notāve been possible to begin with. We see their defining traits, yes; but thatās not really them, itās what they stand for, I guess. We could probably all argue different types for the boys because of the stereotypes within the text and the stereotypes within MBTI itself. So yeah. Best book

As you can see, Iām doing a survey on people of this website, according to their MBTI and Enneagram type. What I wanna do is to illustrate the general portrait of Tumblr users with these two psychological typologies and see if thereās any correlation. I take this quite seriously as Iām using my collegial formation to structure my survey and collect/analyze future data with Excel. Everything is prepared but something is missing: you.

Outside factors of your personality: anxiety v. confidence, comfort levelā¦ all that stuff can also come into play in a social situation, perhaps making your results atypical to your personality, or more or less, not fit the stereotypical results : )Ā

also true. Me as an INFJ is different than any other INFJ who runs a blog here too, counting in Enneagram, temperaments, and the things I like and donāt like. Thatās the coolest thing. MBTI shows similarities between people of the same type but it is not a whole indicator of oneās personality. It gives room for growth & development and individuality. Which is why some people donāt like these stereotypical posts and what not.

Ā Introverted Feeling(Fi): Cassie is a deeply felt person. She makes all of her decisions of her emotions despite how illogical or impractical they may be; moving to New York with no plan and very little money for example. But, despite being so emotionally driven, she does not like she does not like to go into depth when talking about her emotions. She didnāt tell Sid how much she cared for him until it all boiled up inside of her and she ended up yelling at him and then trying to kill herself. She never told her parents how their neglect affected her. She never asked them to come with her to the Clinique even though she wanted them to be there; asking them would involve her talking about her emotions. Her Fi can also cause her to make slightly selfish decisions. When Chris dies she runs away because emotionally she canāt handle it and needs space to deal with her emotions completely forgetting that all of her friends and especially Sid desperately need her to be able to cope.
Extroverted Sensing(Se): She doesnāt stay still for long. Cassie loves to go out with her friends to a party or anywhere as long as she isnāt board. Sheās highly aware of her environment and little passes her. Her Se can often play out, like when her and Sid break up and her solution is to go out and sleep with pretty much anyone she meets. She also moves on from things quickly and never lives in or refers to the past if she can help it. Taking her and Sid again for example even when she is dating him again for the second time and knows she will ālove him foreverā she moves on because Sid is someone from her past.
Introverted Intuition(Ni): Cassie has these flashes of insight. Of just knowing without being able to explain why, but only vocationally. No one had to tell her that Jal was pregnant and even though Jal was trying to hid it, Cassie knew. And she knew exactly how to play Jal so that Jal would admit to herself what was happening and face up to the problem. And later in āPureā she knew she was being followed. She just got that feeling that she wouldnāt have been able to explain. Cassie also did A level philosophy so she is clearly interested in the theoretical and spiritual like people with tert. Ni can oftenĀ be from my experience.
Extroverted Thinking(Te): Although Cassie has a fairly scattered mind when it comes down to it, she can be officiant. For example when she does to New York, illogical decision but she got herself sorted with a job and a place to live very fast. She also needs to be able to control her environment to an extent. āI stopped eating and then everyone had to do what I said.ā āI think it was the happiest time of my life.ā She needs that control and that was part of the reason why she stopped eating. She also has that thing with food where, although the rest of her surrounds are disordered she organizes her food and other peoples because she said theyād done it āwrongā. Finally, although it is not her natural state if she really needs to she can take charge and be responsible like at the end when she is looking after her brother.
