Why do the robots have to be sexy. Why can't they be tired and worn out and just straight up killing machines and covered in blood and have trailing wires and have chipped paint and clunky bodies and an incomprehensible amount of limbs

Ok. Ok. I get it. We all find the battered and beaten and realistic aspects attractive. That's nice and all but I was talking more of the common portrayal of robots and androids in media. The vast majority of them are conventionally attractive (or close to it) and look human enough that your self insert fanfictions don't require any more consideration for what a robot is beyond maybe changing a few words. These robots are still designed with physical appeal in mind, and it's very limiting, I feel. Not that there's anything wrong with sexy robots, it's just boring.

Rarely will you find a robotic character that genuinely resembles a machine or appears to be designed for functionality. Designers attempt to put humanity in their designs where it doesn't need to be. The exception, of course, is when you're not supposed to empathize with them, or in a more horrific setting where such things are acceptable.
