âDoes this look okay?â Ren walks into your room with the cutest outfit imaginable. Today is the day: his first day of kindergarten. Youâre nearly in tears every time you look at him, not being able to believe that your baby boy is ready to go to school. Heâs so excited for it, and you donât want to shatter it by cryingÂ
âYou look so handsome, baby. Go show your daddy.â You tell him, knowing that Satoru is downstairs trying to make Renâs bento box perfect. You need a moment to let yourself cry and compose yourself before you drop him off. Heâs just a baby, why do you have to send him to school?
Ren nods in response, and walks out of your room to go to where his father is. You take a deep breath, trying to contain yourself. Itâs his first day of school, youâre not sending him off to war. Itâs just hard to accept that your child is growing up so fast.
The baby that you were just carrying in your arms is going to school. You have to gather yourself, you canât be a mess in front of Ren who is already scared of what awaits him. Satoru is going to comfort him while you figure something out.
âHey, buddy. Are you ready?â The biggest smile comes to Satoruâs lips as he sees his son walk towards him. Satoru tries to finish the special lunch that heâs been set on making for Ren, before his son gets to him.
âI am. Waiting for mommy.â Ren answers, and it tugs Satoruâs heart. For how much longer is Ren going to call you mommy? When will it just be mom? Satoru takes a deep breath, he knew that spending too much time with you meant that your sadness would become infectious.Â
âWhat do you want for breakfast? Cereal?â Satoru asks, and Ren nods in response. He doesnât really care to have a more intricate breakfast, heâs not that hungry this early.Â
âWill school always be this early?â Ren questions, walking over to the informal dining table thatâs in the kitchen. Satoru chuckles, knowing that it gets worse from hereâ At least kindergarten isnât too bad.
âItâll always be at the same time.â Satoru answers, and he sees the frown that appears on Renâs face. That just ruined everything for the little boy, and Satoru canât blame him. âBut hey, if you cooperate Iâll let you sleep in on Saturday and Sunday.â
âReally?â A hopeful spark appears in Renâs eyes, and Satoru almost feels bad. Heâll do whatever will work.
âYes sir.â Satoru smirks. Ren loves the deal, therefore heâll cooperate as much as he has to. Satoru has this whole parenting thing under wraps. He walks over to Ren, putting the bowl of cereal in front of Ren, âEat up, honey. You have a long day ahead of you.â
âOkay, Iâm ready!â You announce, walking into the kitchen to find Satoru and Ren sitting together. Tears well up in your eyes as you see the pair and you hold your breath,Â
âActually, give me a minute.â
âCan you replay the song?â Ren asks, and Satoru wastes no time in starting the song over again and turning it up to max volume. Anything to drown out the sniffles that come from you. Youâre almost at the school, you need to gather yourself. Ren canât see you crying like this.
âBaby shark is not that sad for you to be reacting like this.â Satoru tries to joke, which only makes you sob. Heâd love to join you in the crying, but someone has to be strong for Ren. âYou must really hate the song.â
âShut up.â You tell him in complete tears. Heâs trying to cheer you up but nothing is working today. You have to soothe yourself. Your son is going to be fine.
âWeâre almost at the school.â Satoru announces, and Ren looks outside the car excitedly. Satoruâs word of mouth worked, and the child is more than excited to go to school. Though Satoruâs announcement is more for you, his way of telling you to gather yourself.Â
âReplay the song!â Ren yells, and Satoru does as the child asks. Ren will be getting out of the car soon enough so Satoru doesnât mind listening to the song a couple more times.Â
âHeâs going to be fine.â Satoru tells you, knowing that Ren is too busy listening to his song to hear what Satoru has to say.
âHeâs growing up too fast.â You say, and Satoru pouts. Bringing that up makes him want to cry too but he canât. Satoruâs already missed so much, and heâs going to miss more. But itâs fine. Ren is going to be fine, and heâs excited to go to school.Â
âWeâre here.â Satoru turns off the radio, handing you his handkerchief so you can clean your face. You have to control yourself for at least ten minutes, then you can cry all you want. Ren takes off his seatbelt before his face presses against the car window, looking at the surroundings.Â
âItâs big.â Ren comments which earns a chuckle from the both of you. Your house is almost as big, you have no idea why heâs shocked. You take one final deep breath before opening your car door. You can hold back the tears.Â
âAlright, letâs go. Weâre going to be late.â You say, and Satoru fights back a smile. At least youâre putting up a strong fort. Â
You get Ren out of the car, and before you begin the walk to the entrance, you take a couple of photos of the child. Youâre finally able to do it without crying, so you take as much as you can. Ren with a backpack nearly twice his size and a lunchbox as big as him. Heâs a Gojo, heâll be your height in no time.Â
âWere you crying?â Ren looks up at you, seeing how your eyes look puffy. The question makes you want to burst into tears again.Â
âWhy would I be?â You furrow your brows, trying to play it off. Thatâs good enough to deter Ren from questioning it any further. Ren takes your hand, and you squeeze it. âAre you excited, baby? Itâs a very big day.â
âI am.â Ren smiles at you, and you melt. Heâs going to have so much fun and learn new things, you shouldnât worry.Â
âStop!â Satoru nearly yells when youâre at the entrance. You both look back at him, confused why he suddenly yells. âLet me take a picture of the two of you.â
âYou donât have to yell like a maniac next time you want a picture.â You tell him, getting ready for a picture with Ren as Satoru takes his phone out. You signal Ren to come closer, and once heâs close enough, you both smile at Satoruâs phone.Â
âAnd for the record, I didnât yell like a maniac.â Satoru says after he takes enough pictures of the two of you. You think youâre done, but he hands the phone to you. He wants you to do the same for him and Ren, which you have no issue doing. You might be a little late but who cares? The first day of kindergarten isnât that big of a deal.Â
âAlright you two, say cheese.â You canât help but smile as you see your two boys share the same smile as they look at the camera. You hurry up, seeing that Ren is growing sick of taking photos. You donât take as many pictures as Satoru did, but itâs good enough, he doesnât need fifty variations of the same picture.Â
âAlright, letâs go.â You hand the phone back to Satoru, before you open the door to the school. Youâll admit, itâs nice knowing that you wonât be stuck within the halls this time around⊠You do feel slightly bad for your son, but heâll for sure enjoy it the first years.Â
âDo you need help with your backpack, buddy?â Satoru asks, seeing how the end of the backpack hits the childâs calves.
âI can handle it!â Ren claims, immediately getting defensive. Heâs in a space with kids his age, he has to look like a big boy. Satoru chuckles, claiming,
âI wonât take it from you, no need to answer like that.âÂ
You begin to get nervous as you approach the classroom. Leaving your baby alone in a classroom full of kids with a woman that you barely know is nerve wracking to say the least. Satoru looks fine, you should be more than fine as well.
âThis is the classroom.â Satoru announces when you nearly walk past it. The teacher waits outside with the door open and a warm welcoming smile on her face. This is it. Satoru takes over, telling his son, âAlright, Ren. Greet your teacher and go inside.â
âHow about a goodbye first?â You say, glaring back at Satoru for sending off your child without even getting a proper farewell. Ren waves at the two of you before walking into his classroom as if you didnât matter. You stick out your bottom lip as you look at Satoru, âHeâs a big boy now.â
âLetâs get out of here before the waterworks begin.â Satoru throws his arm over your shoulder and tries to guide you outside, awkwardly waving at Renâs teacher. Heâd stick around and talk to her some more (though the emails and meet-the-teacher night should be more than enough), but he has to make sure that you donât begin to cry outside of the classroom.Â
âHe doesnât even want to say goodbye to his mommy, what have we done?â You let out a cry, and Satoru tries his best to calm you down. Teachers are outside, waiting for their respective students, he doesnât need them staring at you.Â
âHow about I take you to breakfast?â Satoru asks, hoping that itâll take your mind off crying. Truthfully, he might begin to cry too. âHeard thereâs a good place around here, wonât you like to try it?â
âIâm not hungry.â You answer, your appetite completely gone from the lack of reaction from your son. Like father like son or whatever they say.Â
âA beautiful face like yours has to eat, câmon.â Satoru insists, and you sigh. Your stomach growls, giving it away. Youâre hungry and you canât deny it, but you donât want to eat. Satoru hears it, but he knows you wonât change your mind that easily. âFine, but Iâm still stopping to get something for myself.â
âYeah, whatever. Take me to get breakfast.â You roll your eyes. His plan has succeeded, right now youâre not crying because Ren entered his classroom without giving you a hug.Â
âItâs a date.â He says, which earns a weird look from you. It makes him feel nervous, and he scratches the back of his neck before asking, âIs it a date?â
âItâsâŠâ You begin but you stop yourself. Youâre not sure. Do you want to give him that slight bit of hope that you can get back together?Â
You clear your throat before telling him, âIâll decide after.â

âIâm sleepy.â Satoru mutters before throwing himself on your bed. He does so without your permission, wearing his dirty clothes on your clean bed. Not to mention that heâs sweaty, after all, heâs helping you pack all of your stuff before helping you move to the house that he bought you.
âYeah, go to the couch.â You tell him, and if you had enough strength to pick him up and throw him on the couch you would. But Satoru is too big for you to pick up and carry. He ignores you and you whine, âSatoru, youâre getting my bed dirty!â
âI wonât fit in Renâs bed.â He responds, and you sigh.Â
âYeah, thatâs why youâre sleeping on the couch after you take a shower.â You say, and he finally stands up. He walks to your shower, and practically slams the door behind him which makes you roll your eyes. He makes himself feel at home with no issue⊠Which you consider fair since his mother does own the place.
You wonât pay much attention to Satoru either way. Itâs like heâs your boyfriend all over again, except you arenât physical with each other. And youâre also not all too sure that you want to call Satoru your boyfriend ever again; youâd prefer to keep him as a friend, and of course, as the father of your son.
âDonât use up all of my shampoo!â You yell, knowing that Satoru comes out extra fragrant when he showers in your bathroom. He uses all of your good products and doesnât bother replacing the empty bottles.
You can only hope that heâs heard your words before you decide to change into your pajamas and lay down in your bed. You have a long day ahead of you tomorrow, you need as much rest as you can get. Thereâs a knock on your door as soon as you lay down on your bed, and you take a deep breath before answering, âCome in, Ren!â
âCan I sleep with you tonight?â The child asks as soon as he enters the room. You try to hold back a sigh, knowing that you wonât sleep as well with Ren constantly kicking you and moving around but you canât bring yourself to say no to him.
âCome here, baby.â You pat the space next to you, and he comes running to lay down beside you. You tuck him in before wrapping your arm around him, bringing him closer to you. Maybe youâre partially at fault for all the kicking and moving since you hold him so close. âDonât snore, okay?â
âI donât snore!â He quickly yells, and you chuckle before kissing his cheek. He snuggles into you, and you nuzzle your nose into his hair.
âHey, you ran out of body wash.â Satoru walks out of your bathroom, having enough common sense to have put on a robe. His eyes land on you and Ren as you cuddle, a smile coming to his lips. He walks out, looking for the clothes that he hides in your place for this occasion.Â
âSave some space for me!â He yells when heâs into his pajamas, running to the bed to join you. He completely disregards that he was ordered to sleep on the couch. His giant arm wraps over the two of you, bringing you close to him.
âDidnât I tell you to go to the couch?â You laugh, but you canât bring yourself to kick him out. Itâs comfortable like this. âRenâs bed is empty too, you can try there.â
âDaddy wonât fit there.â Ren points out, and you almost want to scold him for saying it. Satoru agrees, and you chuckle, rolling your eyes.
âFine, but you better not snore either.â You say, and Satoru has a mischievous look on his face. Heâs about to say something thatâs going to annoy you, but at least get a laugh out of Ren.
âOut of the three of us, youâre the only one that snores.â Satoru earns a slap on his ear for that joke. Heâs slept with you many times, itâs certainly not a joke. âI was joking!â
âYeah⊠Nobody laughed.â You respond, and he chuckles. Satoru is about to speak, but he gets the first word out and Ren shushes him.
âIâm trying to sleep!â Ren complains.
âSorry, baby.â You kiss the top of his head, and you feel Ren throw his small arm over you. Thereâs a smile on your lips before you drift off to sleep.
You wake up in the middle of the night, nearly falling off the bed even though itâs large enough for three people. Itâs no surprise to you that Ren takes up the entire bed, what surprises you is that Satoru isnât in bed. You should leave it alone, reclaim your spot on the bed and go back to sleep.Â
But you donât leave it alone, you get up from the bed and search for him. You walk out of the room, and spot the kitchen light on. You take a deep breath before beginning to walk over to it. Satoru is making himself a cup of tea, which you can only assume is to help with sleeping.
âWhatâs up with you?â You startle him, his hand going over to his heart. Though the scare has gone away, it continues to beat fast.
âCanât sleep.â He keeps the answer vague since he doubts you really want to hear whatâs on his mind⊠Well perhaps he should tell you whatâs on his mind.Â
âWhy is that?â You ask him. You would assume that he would sleep comfortably with Ren by his side, but somethingâs off with him. Perhaps itâs because youâre in the room as well. âDo I make you uncomfortable?â
âItâs not that. Iâve just been thinking aboutâŠâ He begins, and he takes a deep breath before voicing his thoughts. âEverything I did to you.â
âOhâŠâ Youâre taken back by the response. It was something that kept you up at night before, but youâve grown to not care. You canât undo Satoruâs actions, and youâre convinced that in the end you were better off than himâ At least in some ways. Not monetarily for sure, but you had Ren with you. âWhatâs done is done, thereâs no point in losing sleep over it.â
âI wish I did things differently.â He confesses, which is nice to hear. âI was an idiot, and I chose money over someone that Iâve loved all of my life. Even if Ren wasnât involved, I shouldâve chosen you.â
âYeah⊠I was kind of used to it.â You chuckle, and it makes a frown appear on his face. Itâs not a lie, he shouldnât be shocked to hear those words leave your lips. âIâve realized that you were young⊠Easy to manipulate especially after just losing your father. Iâm not thrilled that you did what you did but donât beat yourself up about it.â
Heâs surprised with what you say, biting his lip as he thinks of what to say. Processing all of what youâve said. Itâs true, but he feels like he couldâve handled the situation better, sure, he was young but he wasnât a child. He clears his throat before saying, âYou arenât wrong but⊠I could have handled things much differently.â
âYou could have, but thereâs nothing you can do about it now.â You respond. âYou stepped up when you got the chance, which is what matters.â
âIâm still really sorry for everything.â He says, and you hum in response. âYouâve always been someone very dear to me, and Iâve always treated you as my secondary choice. Youâre the mostâ Until Ren you were the most important person to me, and even then Iâve disregarded you as if you werenât.â
âIt hurts to be in my place, but I also understand, Satoru. I grew up with you, youâve always been made to believe that money and power is everything, and every issue that you had was solved with money,â You take a deep breath before continuing. âI canât blame you, but Iâve also been hurt by your decisions.â
âYouâve always been the mature one out of the two of us⊠Even when Iâm an old man, I act like a child.â He chuckles, and you laugh as well before humming in agreement.Â
âEven when you act like a child, youâre a great father to our son.â You point out, hoping that itâll make him feel better. âYour parents loved you a lot but⊠They werenât all that great.â
âYou donât have to tell me.â He responds. Heâs smiling, hearing about how you view him as a father. He isnât perfect, but heâs trying to be the best he can be for Ren. Disciplining him and not spoiling him too much (unless itâs a situation that calls for spoiling his son).Â
âWould you consider having another?â He suddenly asks, and your eyes go wide. You stand in awkward silence for a moment before you begin to laugh.
âWhy are you asking? Shouldnât you be asking me if I would even consider going on a date with you again?â You reply and he feels as his cheeks turn pink. âI was just kicking you out of my bed and here you are, asking me if Iâd have another child.â
âWould you consider going on a date with me?â Heâs smiling. You have to look away because your feelings for him come back in a heartbeat. Satoru made his decision a long time ago, you shouldnât. But heâs also changed so much recently, that you want to see where fate leads you.
He notes your silence. Itâs late, and he doesnât want to overwhelm you with that sort of question. He ends up saying, âYou donât have to answer that.â
âYeah, Iâm not answering that.â You respond. âHow about we go to bed?â
âOkay⊠But would you consider going back to get your degree or do you not want to do that anymore?â He changes his question. âIâll be supporting you all the time.â
âYou know you sound just like your dad.â You point out, and he remembers that his dad did make a similar offer. âHe offered to pay for my education but I dumbly turned him down. I sure regretted it when I found out I was pregnant and you werenât picking up the phone.â
âYeah, he told me.â He shares. âBut Iâm actually making up for it since I took away that opportunity from you.
âIâll consider it. Iâm not sure if thatâs what I want to do anymore.â You tell him, and he gives you a subtle nod. âIs the offer still on the table if I want to just pursue degree after degree.â
âKnock yourself out, I have enough money for every degreeâ Iâll just be praying for you with all the assignments you have to complete.â
âOkay.â You have much to think about, and you know your ultimate decision. He yawns, the late night remedy workingâ Ultimately passing the sleepless night torch to you after his offer.
âLetâs go to bed, Ren is going to wake up in three hours and we canât greet him all tired.â Satoru tells you, putting the cup of tea in your sink. You roll your eyes, knowing that you wonât be able to sleep because of him.
A great idea comes to your mind, fighting back a smirk as you both walk to the bedroom. Before going inside you tell him, âRen with a baby sister would look cute. I just have to find the right candidate.â
âHuh?â He nearly drops to his knees with your last sentence. Did you seriously just say that in front of him? âIâm right here!â
âShush! Ren is sleeping, donât wake him up.â You scold him before entering the bedroom with a smirk on your face. He stays behind, dumbfounded with what you just said.
âShoko, can I help you?â You ask when you see the woman approach your desk. She looks nervous, and you can guess what sheâs come to you about. You wait for her to speak though, giving her a moment to gather her thoughts.Â
âCan we go out for lunch?â She finally spits out, and you take a long hard minute before answering. You havenât had a proper conversation with Shoko in what feels like ages, and you havenât been really willing to talk.
âSure.â You end up shrugging, acting as if you couldnât care enough. Sheâs about to say something else, but her words get caught up in her throat⊠Talking to you has suddenly become a hard task for her. She ends up deciding to keep quiet, turning on her heel to walk away, and just as sheâs about to leave, Satoru calls out her name.
âShoko! I need something from you, come into my office.â And she rolls her eyes before making her way to Satoruâs office. She goes in first, while he stays behind to have a word with you.
âDo you want to go out for lunch today?â Satoru asks, and while youâd agree, your schedule is filled up.
âIâm a busy woman today. I told Shoko Iâd go to lunch with her.â You answer, and he raises one brow. That doesnât make him change his mind though.
âIâll join then.â He smiles at you, walking away before you can give him some sort of response. Itâs come to the point where you enjoy having Satoruâs presence, especially when you know things are going to be awkward.
âThis is a nice place⊠Is Shoko paying?â Satoru sits beside you, inspecting the restaurantâs menu. Itâs pricey, though he shouldnât worry about that detail since he has more than enough money to pay.
âNo, you are.â You answer, and he sticks out his bottom lip. He really hasnât changed over the past five years.
âCan someone treat me to dinner for once.â He complains, and you canât help but roll your eyes. You reach over to grab his hand, giving it a light squeeze.
âIâll treat you to fast food tomorrow, deal?â Thereâs a mocking tone in your voice, and he picks up on it quickly. He lets out a sigh, putting down the menu on the table and crossing his arms.
âWhy did she even invite you out to eat? Is she trying to sleep with you too? Or is that just with Sayo?â Satoru asks which nearly makes your jaw drop. The information isnât new to you, itâs just weird to hear it from the man himself. You end up chuckling.
âProbably to apologize for the Ren situation.â You tell him, and he raises his brows. Heâs confused, until he remembers that you were hiding Ren. Itâs not something that Shoko should apologize for, he thinks but then he takes a moment to think about it. Heâs glad that Shoko said something, but you obviously feel different.
âOh right⊠That was a secret and all.â Satoru mentions and you hum in response. He still canât help but ask, âDo we really have to do this?â
âI mean I guess she did do the right thing but she also betrayed my trust. And for what?â You say, and Satoru bites down his lip. You do have a point, Shoko betrayed your trust even if it was the right thing to do.
âI guess yeahâŠâ He canât really argue any further. Heâll forever be grateful to Shoko for telling him, but he can understand why youâre upset. He canât control your feelings nor tell you how to feel, so heâll watch you resolve the issue. Maybe try to help you with your feelings.
You two begin to talk about something unrelated, something lighthearted. Satoru makes a couple of stupid jokes that earn a couple of laughs from you. Laughs that are louder than youâd like to admit. Time gets lost in each otherâs presence, though your joyous conversation gets interrupted.
âWhat are you doing here?â Shoko asks, her eyes lingering on Satoru. The lunch was for the two of you to talk over some issues, and for her to apologize, frankly she doesnât want Satoru here.Â
âI invited myself.â Satoru answers, and Shoko rolls her eyes. She ultimately takes a seat across from you since she canât do anything else.
âWhat are you going to order?â Shoko questions, not even bothering looking at the menu. Sheâs been here many times before, she knows exactly what she wants. You and Satoru look from the same menu even when you have two, and heâs telling you what he thinks sounds good.
Satoru suggests something that he thinks youâd like, and you end up getting it. Once all your food is ordered, Shoko bites down his lip, trying to figure out the right words to speak. But she feels as if sheâs forgotten how to speak.Â
âSo I assume weâre here for a reason.â Satoru makes the first step, and Shoko clicks her tongue. It takes everything in Satoru not to laugh.
âYou werenât invited.â Shoko points out. Sheâs avoiding eye contact, her nerves getting the best of her. An awkward chuckle leaves her lips, saying, âYouâre making this very expensive actually, you should be paying.â
âInvite a guy out for once.â Satoru says, and she rolls her eyes again. âMake it up to me for sleeping with my wife.â
âWerenât you cheating on her?â Shoko quickly brings up, and you feel your face get warm. You knew that as well, itâs just weird to hear that Satoru was having sex with other women.
âIâll kill you.â Satoruâs eyes are wide, his cheeks turning pink. She can point that out all she wants, but not when youâre sitting right next to him. He clears his throat and tries to act calm. âI was not cheating on her.â
âOh right⊠Because youâre technically separated.â Shoko says, and Satoru takes a deep breath because Shoko is working him up. Sheâs fighting back a smirk before saying, âWe arenât here for this, anyway.â
âNo way your mom didnât have more kids⊠You two are like siblings.â You laugh, acting as if you hadnât heard what just left Shokoâs lips. What Satoru does is none of your business. It has been none of your concern for the past five years.Â
âIâm surprised you two donât act like siblings.â Shoko answers, and you grimace. She chuckles, her sweaty hands going to her pants. She takes a deep breath before focusing on you. Why is apologizing so hard?
âIâm sorry for telling the dumbass about Ren.â Shoko spits out, and itâs not the right way to apologize but it earns a laugh from you. Satoru rolls his eyes, pursing his lips together. Maybe it was best for him to stay. âIt wasnât my place but hearing that he was in the hospital and knowing Satoru was clueless made me feel guilty.â
âYeahâŠâ You understand her point of view, but you still canât help but feel frustrated. It wasnât her secret, but you also get that she was unwillingly dragged into this whole mess. You understand she felt guilty, and itâs selfish of you to expect her silence at the cost of her sanity. You do understand, but you still feel weird about it all. You still feel like you canât trust her. âI guess I get it.â
âButâŠ?â She asks, feeling that youâre not quite convinced. Thereâs something more, she knows it.Â
âI donât think I can trust you.â You tell her, and she bites down her lip before nodding in response. She shouldâve expected a similar response.Â
Food gets to your table, killing any possibility of long awkward silence. You begin to eat, and for the rest of lunch, Satoru makes the conversation.
After lunch, you find yourself spinning around in Satoruâs chair. You wouldnât have dreamt of this a couple of months back, but once you have a son with your boss you get certain privileges.
âAre you just being lazy?â Satoru asks, sitting across from you in one of the most uncomfortable chairs that his butt has ever touched. You hum in response, and he canât help but laugh. He proceeds to mutter, âI need to get a new secretary.â
âWatch it.â You warn him, and he sticks his tongue out at you. He wasnât serious with what he said, but once he takes a moment to think about it, he does consider it. When you stop spinning on his chair and get a good look at him, you notice. âNow what did I do!â
âYouâre kind of a bad secretary.â He says, and you furrow your brows. He sticks up his hands defensively before claiming, âI was joking. Best secretary Iâve ever had.â
âThen why are you considering it?â You respond, and Satoru bites his tongue. He instead focuses back on his paperwork, and you sigh. Youâre not going to pester him for answers, so instead you inch closer to his computer. âCan I snoop on your computer?â
âKnock yourself out.â He answers, not bothering to look up at you. You unlock the screen in no time, a password so easy to guess that youâre almost disappointed in him.Â
Your heart melts at the background photo that he has set. A picture of him and Ren at the beach. You proceed to click on his photos, trying to see if he has anything incriminating in his computer. Perhaps a photo of one of his lady friends since you know that his phone and computer are connected.
You donât find what you expect, most of his photos are either of your son or of food. He barely has pictures in his camera roll, so it only takes a few scrolls to go back to five years ago. You find photos that youâve never seen of yourself. Photos that you consider ugly, photos that heâs cherished the past five years.
âEw, Iâm deleting these photos.â You announce, and you begin to handpick the ones that are the ugliest of the bunch. Satoru jumps up from his seat and rushes to your side to take the mouse from your hand.Â
âYou can snoop around but you canât alter anything.â Satoru tells you, while he selects a picture of you sleeping. He hovers the cursor on your chin, a smirk on his face, âAw, look at you drooling.â
âWhy do you even have this in here?â You ask him, and he chooses to remain silent. Instead he closes the app and turns off the computer. He rolls your chair away from his computer, and puts you beside his seat for the day.
âWhy do you want to even snoop? I promise you wonât find anything fun.â Satoru says, taking a seat right next to you.
âWant to see your lady friends, see if your taste has changed.â You answer, and Satoru shakes his head disappointedly as a chuckle leaves his lips.Â
âMy taste has not changed, youâre still the only woman that has my heart.â He tells you, and you swear your heart melts but you remain strong. You roll your eyes at him before pointing out,
âIs that why you were sleeping around?â
âAre you jealous?â Satoru asks, and you quickly shake your head. And he says something so insincere because if it were to happen, heâs sure heâd jump off the building, âIf it makes you feel better, you can sleep with anyone youâd like.â
âI wasnât asking for your permission.â You reply. For some reason your words make him feel better, thinking that youâre not going to run off with some idiot in the end.
âOn another note.â He clears his throat, and you raise your eyebrows. âWhat do you think about going back to school?â
âHuh? Where is this coming from?â Youâre confused since you havenât even mentioned going back to study.
âYou donât want to be my secretary forever, do you?â He makes a great point, though you donât mind either. You get to goof off and Satoru doesnât dare reprimand you anymore. Plus, pay is great. âYou didnât get to do what you wanted to do because I knocked you up, but now Iâm here. Iâll take care of everything.â
âYou know that itâs going to take a lot of time, effort and money for it.â You tell him, and he rolls his eyes. Bringing up money as if he didnât just buy you a house. He has more than enough to support you financially.
âIâm here now, am I not?â He responds, and you have to take a deep breath. The words rest heavy on your chest, and you feel tears well up in your eyes. You wouldnât have imagined how three words have such an impact on you.
He sees youâre on the verge of crying, and he throws his arms over you, pulling you into a hug. He rubs your back in an attempt to comfort you, âIf I had known that the mere suggestion of going back to school would make you cry, I wouldnât have said a word.â
âNo itâsâ Iâm fine.â You try to play it off. It just makes him hug you tighter. Heâs nearly leaving you out of air, on the plus side, Satoru smells really good.
âIf you want to be my lazy secretary forever, youâre more than welcome to. Iâll even give you a raise.â He reassures you, and you laugh. He loosens his grip before pressing a kiss on your temple. âIâll support you no matter the journey you want to take. Even if it includes an ugly husband.â
âWhat makes you say my husband would be ugly?â You focus on the least important thing.
âBecause if you donât marry me, heâll be ugly.â He answers, and you click your tongue. You hate that heâs doing things right.
âThen youâll have to deal with me and my ugly husband.â
âWhat do you mean your parents are here?â Worry consumes Satoru as soon as he hears about the announcement. His eyes go directly to Ren, who looks around confused. Why is Sayoâs parents showing up a big deal? Ren sees his parents everyday and itâs not a big deal.Â
âI donât know why theyâre here. One of the maids just came into my room with the announcement and Iâ I donât know.â Sheâs running her hands through her hair, taking deep breaths to keep her cool but itâs hard. Sheâs freaking out and Satoru canât blame her.
âItâs okay, Sayo. Deep breaths.â Satoru tries to get her to calm down while he freaks out himself. Itâs Renâs birthday, he doesnât want the night to be ruined because Sayoâs parents decided itâd be a great day to stop by. âRen, come here.â
âI thought you were going to open mommyâs gift?â Ren asks, but he wonât question it further. Satoru had a change of heart, thatâs a good enough answer for Ren. He walks back to his father, and Satoruâs hand goes to the top of his head.Â
âWhat are we going to doâ I mean you have your son here, this birthday party clearly isnât for you. What are we going to say?â Sayo rambles, knowing that itâs only a matter of time before she has to go downstairs to greet them. âWhat do we even say?â
âI donât know. IâŠâ Satoru is unsure of what to say next. What should he do? He looks down at Ren and takes a moment to really think about his options. He canât hide Ren forever, and he isnât going to.
Satoru isnât proud of a lot of things in his life because quite frankly he hasnât made the best decisions, and Ren is everything to him. His pride and joy. He doesnât want to keep hiding him, Satoru is done with all of this.
âI think itâs time to come clean.â Satoru says, words that are dreaded by her. But she somewhat understands. Satoru just has a beautiful family that is waiting for himâ Or whatever you have going on, either way, itâs time to put an end to this. She bites down her lip before nodding in agreement.
âYouâre right.â She agrees as a sigh escapes her lips. She wanted this to go on a little longer⊠No, she wanted this to keep going forever since she canât deal with the truth. But Satoru isnât her little puppet, and he has his own feelings to cherish and protect.
Her eyes are filling up with tears, and she tries to turn quickly to leave. She doesnât want Satoru to back down or to think she wants him to; sheâs simply overcome with emotion because this is it, after tonight, she wonât have a family. Satoru speaks before she can walk away, making sure to cover Renâs ears beforehand, âSayo, you might not be my wife but youâre still going to be my family.â
âI appreciate it, Satoru.â She manages to say, before walking away. Satoru takes his hands off Renâs ears and smiles down at him.
âChange of plans, Iâll open your mommyâs gift later. Letâs go downstairs.â Satoru tells Ren, grabbing his hand and dragging him out of the room. Heâs not letting the boy out of his sight for even a moment, heâll proudly show off his son tonight.
âWho areââ Youâre right outside his door when he opens up, and he interrupts you to answer your question.
âSayoâs parents.â He says, and your eyes widen. You donât know much about the situation, but you can only assume this isnât good news. Mrs. Gojo is chatting with them, keeping them occupied but from what youâve heard, this isnât good news.
âDo you want me to leave and take Ren for the time being?â You ask him, trying to grab your baby boyâs hand but Satoru shakes his hand.
âTime to put an end to all of this. I canât hide him forever⊠Heâs my whole world, how can I?â Satoru responds, and you feel your heart flutter. Your face begins to get warm, and you canât believe youâre feeling fuzzy because Satoru is being a good father.Â
âThis wonât cause too many issues, right?â You question, and Satoru wonât tell you the truth but he wonât lie to you either. So he chooses to ignore the question, and picks up Ren from the ground. Satoru walks past you, and you begin to follow behind him.Â
You donât know whatâll happen next, and youâre sure itâs not going to be the best scene. Youâre almost sure that youâll be the one thatâs going to be blamed for everything, but thereâs no way youâre leaving Satoru alone with Ren in this mess. You really do wish you could leave with Ren right at this moment, but you understand that this is something Satoru has to do.
âSatoruââ A woman that looks just like Sayo, simply slightly older, begins to speak. Sheâs taken back by the boy that Satoru holds, her mouth agape as she stares in complete and utter confusion. Could be a cousin of some sort, though the boy looks too much like Satoru. âDid you and Sayoââ
âWho is this boy?â Sayoâs father steps in, and Satoru feels the nerves slowly consume him, but heâll remain brave. The process of merging just began, and this will surely ruin everything but it doesnât matter anymore. All Satoru cares for is the little boy that he holds in his armsâ And you who stand behind him.Â
âMy son.â Satoru answers before putting Ren down on the ground. Before he can say anything more, you grab Ren and take him away because he shouldnât witness any of whatâs about to happen. Satoru holds his breath, waiting for a reaction from the pair.
âSayo!â Her father couldnât be any louder, as it dawns on him that his son-in-law has a son; a son that is very clearly not his daughterâs.
âSheâs not at fault for this, so leave her out of it.â Satoru quickly says, but he knows his words wonât change anything. Heâs seen how they interact, itâs the reason why Sayo doesnât want the news to come out. She could do nothing, but her parents will find a way to blame her for everything.
âSheâs known about this, she definitely is at fault.â Her mother responds, and Satoru takes a deep breath. He wants to leave so badly and enjoy the very special day with his son and you, but he canât leave Sayo alone. Not in this mess at least.Â
âSayo! Get down here!â Her father yells once again, getting desperate for his daughter to come downstairs. But itâs not her who comes down, but you. Their eyes fall on you, the woman who took away Satoruâs son, which can only mean one thing to them.
âYouâre the tramp.â Her mother says, and both you and Satoru are completely shocked by her words. You have yet to speak, yet sheâs already managed to insult you. You somewhat expected this though so you canât say youâre too surprised; youâre still a little hurt though. âWhat the hell did you do to him? Satoru would neverââ
âGet out.â Satoruâs voice is harsh, making it clear that theyâre unwelcome into his home. Sayo has yet to come down to face this, but Satoru isnât going to allow it. Not tonight at least. Theyâre staring at him as if they havenât heard him, which makes him yell, âGet out! Youâre not welcome here!â
âWeâre going to talk about this, weâre not leaving.â Sayoâs father says, but Satoru isnât willing to listen to this now. This is supposed to be a special day for him and his son, yet he feels as if the night is ruined. He feels sorry for Sayo, since she wonât get to deal with this tonight, delaying the inevitable confrontation once again. Satoru just isnât up to listen to them anymore, especially after the woman insulted you.Â
âYouâre leaving. I told you that youâre leaving, and if you donât start moving within the next thirty seconds, Iâm dragging you out.â Satoru is seeing red. Heâs always had a particular dislike for Ssayoâs parents, but theyâve never made him this angry before.Â
They see that heâs very serious about this, and they wonât argue with him now. Theyâll leave for the moment, as a birthday present. But theyâll come back tomorrow, and theyâre not going to leave until they get a proper explanation from him and their daughter.
âHappy birthday, Satoru, and happy anniversary to you and my daughter.â The woman makes sure to say before leaving the house, doing it to remind you that Satoru is a married man.Â
âWhereâs Ren?â Satoru asks the moment they step out of the house. Heâs not going to allow anyone else to ruin tonight. Heâs spending the rest of his birthday with you and his son.
âI left him with Sayo so she wouldnât come down. Iâll go get him.â You answer, and Satoru nods in response. He runs to the kitchen while you go upstairs to grab your baby.
âMommy! Look, Sayo and I started playing Mario Party!â Ren exclaims when he sees you step into the game room. You smile at him and at the woman that sits beside him. You found her nearly sobbing, you knew she couldnât go downstairs with how she was crying.Â
âYour daddy wants to see you, Ren.â You tell him, and he pouts. His game just started and youâre tearing it awayâ itâs fine, at least heâll get to have cake later.
âBut our game just started!â Sayo protests, and you chuckle. You agree,
âAlright, but ten minutes. You know Satoru is impatient.â
After Ren loses to Sayo too many times, he gives up on his game. Which is good for Satoru who was growing a little too impatient while he watched them play. He knows itâs only a matter of time before his mother comes in, asking him to fix this mess. Heâs not in the mood for any of this tonight though, and while he wanted to celebrate the day with so many other people, heâs changed his mind.Â
He feels bad for leaving everyone else behind when theyâve come to celebrate Renâs birthday, but he canât stand being in the place for much longer. He takes you, Ren, and the cake, practically forcing you into a car. You canât protest much, and you wonât because itâs also his birthday and youâll grant him just about anything thatâll make him happy.
âCan we have some of the cake now?â Ren asks as he sits right next to it. He was dragged out last minute from his own party, he might as well get a piece of his cake.Â
âWhen we get to where weâre going.â You answer, although youâre not sure how long the ride is. Satoru dragged you out with such urgency, and you wonder if someone is expecting you. Are you late for something? You guess youâre not, Satoru just needs a breath from his home.Â
Youâre proven right when he pulls into the home that he took you not too long ago. You can only imagine the scene that Mrs. Gojo was going to cause, so you understand his decision.
You exit the car, and grab the cake before Ren can get his hands on it. Satoru picks up his baby boy and takes him inside the house, commenting, âSoon enough youâre going to be too heavy for me to carry.â
âGrammy says the same thing.â Ren points out, and while they chatter, you look around the place. Itâs more ready than before, filled with new and luxurious furniture. Satoruâs moving in soon, thatâs what you can gather.Â
You donât stare for too long since the cake is getting heavy for you to carry. You remember the way to the dining room, so you go there and set the cake down on the table. You hear how both of them laugh which brings a smile to your lips. Ren loves his father more than anything, and youâre happy that he can finally spend his birthday with Satoru.Â
âMommy!â Ren yells, and you follow the voice that calls out for your name. You find them in the kitchen, Ren on the kitchen counter while Satoru looks for something to eat in the fridge. When Ren sees you, he immediately asks, âCan we order a pizza?â
âIf thatâs what you both want.â You answer, and Satoru immediately closes the fridge.
âGood because we have nothing here.â Satoru comments, and you let out a chuckle.Â
âSatoru, youâre more than welcome to get something without asking for my permission.â You tell him, and he shakes his head. Heâll rather ask for your permission beforehand. âYouâre a grown man, Satoru.â
âIâm grown too!â Ren chimes in, and Satoru side eyes him.Â
âWhat did you just say, pipsqueak?â Satoru teases him as he picks up Ren from the counter. Satoru pulls his chubby cheek and says, âYouâre only grown when I canât carry you anymore.â
âYou said that itâd be soon.â Ren reminds his father, and Satoru purses his lips. Ren got him there.
âYeah, soon. But not now. See, I can still carry you.â Satoru responds. And heâll still be able to carry Ren for many years to come so Satoru isnât too worried about it.
âLet me order the food.â You tell them while they begin to bicker about the fact that Ren thinks heâs old now.
After eating your dinner, and playing some games, Ren finally gets to cut his birthday cake. Ren sits on his fatherâs lap, while Satoru lights up some matches since he forgot to bring the birthday candles. Itâs a simple mistake with an easy solution.Â
Ren isnât too upset about the five matches on his birthday cake since heâs too focused on the frosting on the cake. Ren is trying to sneak some of the icing while you two sing happy birthday. He finally sneaks it in when youâre clapping, though Satoru notices. Satoru is laughing, telling him, âBlow out the matches.â
âItâs your birthday too.â Ren reminds him, the evidence of his crime all over his lips. Satoru clicks his tongue before blowing the matches for Ren since theyâre burning a little too fast. Ren claps for Satoru, as his father takes off the matches from the cake.
âI guess I get the biggest piece since I blew out the fire.â Satoru says, which makes a frown appear on Renâs face.
âHe is right, plus you already got a taste of it.â You join in, and Ren crosses his arms.
âItâs my birthday!â He makes sure to remind the two of you, which makes you chuckle.Â
âItâs also your dadâs birthday, you said it yourself.â You say, and Ren begins to get upset so you decide to drop it. You donât want to tease him too much tonight. You reach over and kiss his cheek before saying, âLet me go get a plate and a knife so I can give my baby boy the biggest piece of cake.â
âIâll go with you.â Satoru gets Ren off his lap, not wanting for you to spend too much time looking for plates. And maybe he wants to be able to talk to you one on one, especially since he didnât get the chance to look at the present you gave him.
âYou know that leaving Ren with the cake is a bad idea.â You tell Satoru as he follows behind you. He knows that itâs a horrible idea, but if Ren wants to eat the whole cake, heâs more than welcome to. The cake is for him and for nobody else, he can eat it all on his own if itâs what his little heart desires.
âI have a question.â Satoru changes the topic, and you hum. âI didnât get to see what you got me and now Iâm curious.â
âWhy donât you just wait until you get home?â You suggest and Satoru pouts. Maybe the fact that he blew out the five matches has some sort of meaning, he and Ren share one age.
âIâm probably not going back tonight. Câmon, just tell me!â Satoru insists, and you roll your eyes. Youâre searching for the plates, and itâd be more helpful if he actually guided you to where the plates were. Your task would be easier if the house didnât have nearly a hundred cabinets in the kitchen.Â
âHelp me find the plates and Iâll answer.â You respond, and Satoru sighs before walking over and opening the cabinet for the plates. He wonât take them out until you give him the answer. âFine. Before my mom left your house, she stole something from you and Iâm giving it back.â
âWhat did she steal?â Satoruâs curiosity just sparked. Your mother isnât a thief, he knows that she isnât, so what could she possibly take?
âYou remember that music box your parents got for you when you were a baby?â You tell him, and his brows perk up before he nods. âMy mom snuck into your room and stole it when she found out I was pregnant. Told me my son will inherit something from his father, and it was that. Ren doesnât care for it anymore, so you might as well have it back.â
âReally? I was going crazy looking for it. I swore my mom threw it away.â Satoru answers, and you almost feel bad for taking it. But listening to the lullaby was the only way your baby Ren would fall asleep. âI donât need it back, if Ren has had it this whole time then Iâm happy I lost it.â
âYeah⊠I donât know what else to get you since you have pretty much everything.â You respond, and Satoru canât blame you since itâs true. Satoru has everything a man can ask for⊠Well almost everything.
âGive me a kiss.â The words blurt out of his mouth, and your eyes grow wide. âSince you claim I have everything. Thatâs the one thing I donât have.â
âTell me why I should kiss you?â You put a hand on your hip, and he sticks out his bottom lip.
âItâs my birthday.â He reminds you, and you roll your eyes again.Â
âIf I wasnât in the delivery room, I wouldâve been convinced you somehow reproduced with yourself.â You mutter before walking over and kissing his cheek. You know he meant more, but heâs not getting more. Either way, it makes his cheeks turn pink because itâs been a while since heâs felt your lips on any part of his skin.Â
The air suddenly becomes thick, and you have to take a deep breath. Before you can speak about it, you decide to change the topic, âYour house is nice by the way, when are you moving in?â
âItâs not mine, itâs yours. I bought it for you.â He answers as he finally grabs the plates that he was withholding. You freeze in your spot, trying to think about the words that he just said. Is he serious? Did you hear right?
âWhat do you mean mine?â You question, and heâs fighting back a smirk. He kisses the tip of your nose as an extra gift for himself. He begins to walk away and you yell his name, âSatoru! What do you mean?â
âThis is your house!â He yells, before completely leaving you alone in the kitchen. You stand dumbfounded, unsure of what to say to him.
You look around the big kitchen, slowly taking it all in. This is your house.
âHappy birthday, baby.â This time itâs you who wakes up Ren in the morning, filling up his face with kisses. Itâs extremely early, but at this time Ren is in your room, yelling at you to wake up. Itâs surprising that the day of his birthday is the only day where he isnât awoken by the first ray of sunshine.Â
âMommy?â Ren slowly opens his eyes, the first thing he sees is a big smile on your face. You proceed to repeat,
âHappy birthday, Ren.â You feel his tiny arms wrap around you, and your heart swells with joy. You pull away from the hug and you tell him, âBreakfast is ready for you, baby. Just brush your teeth and then come out.â
He doesnât need to be told twice, he rushes out of bed and goes to his bathroom. You canât help but chuckle, walking out of his room to ensure everything is okay. You woke up extra early this morning to decorate the house for him, and you want to make sure that everything looks like you had planned.
You hear the doorbell just as you walk over to the dinner table, and you know immediately who it is. You nearly run to the door to open it for him. You find Satoru, holding a gift thatâs almost bigger than himself. He comes inside, and youâre shocked to find about five other people behind him, holding gifts that are all for Ren.Â
âDid you buy the whole store?â You ask him, and Satoru is too busy finding space for all his gifts that he canât answer your question. Youâre almost certain that itâs a yes. You immediately feel as if you havenât done enough because you only got Ren one gift.
He already has everything, what more could he possibly get? Satoru always finds something that Ren could possibly need. You canât help but joke, âDo you have some car keys hidden in there?â
âItâs Renâs birthday, wait your turn.â Satoru says, and you laugh. The moment all the gifts are on the floor, the people that came with Satoru leave. The moment the door closes, he asks, âWhereâs Ren?â
âBathroom.â You answer, and you watch Satoru get impatient within seconds. He just wants to see his baby boy and congratulate him. You clear your throat and tell him, âHappy birthday, by the way.â
âThank you.â Satoru smiles, almost forgetting that crucial detail. Itâs not only Renâs birthday, but his own. His priority is his son though, he couldnât care about himself at this moment.Â
âAlso happy anniversary.â You smirk, and Satoru canât help but roll his eyes. Heâs about to reprimand you for even saying it, but before he can open his mouth, he sees the miniature version of himself running to him. Satoru crouches down with open arms to welcome Renâs hug.
âHappy birthday, my baby boy.â Satoru kisses the top of Renâs head once Ren is in his arms. He picks Ren up from the ground, and takes him to the table, where a delicious breakfast awaits him.Â
âDo you want anything for breakfast, Satoru?â You ask him, because it is his special day as well. Satoru shakes his head, watching Ren eat is sufficient for him. You watch Ren as he begins to eat, and you announce, âRen, itâs also your fatherâs birthday. Congratulate him.â
âNo itâs not, itâs my birthday.â Ren clarifies, not quite getting that two people can share the same birthday. Well at least not with their father. You both laugh before you say,
âItâs also your dadâs birthday.â And you watch as the wheels turn in his head before he stands up from his chair and runs to his father. Satoru picks him up, and Ren kisses his fatherâs cheek.Â
âHappy birthday, daddy.â Ren has the brightest smile on his face, and it transfers over to Satoru. Satoru expected many things for his birthday, but celebrating with his now five-year-old wasnât one of them. Although itâs the biggest gift for him, Satoru has stopped caring for his birthdayâ The day just lost its charm since his wedding, but now knowing his baby boy was on this special day, the day is the best day out of the whole year. He really thought the day would never be special again, but life really takes you by surprise.Â
âHow old are you now? Fifty?â Ren looks so serious that Satoru is offended. You burst into laughter, and Satoru side eyes you before shaking his head.
âTwenty seven.â Satoru answers, and Ren is still astonished since twenty seven is quite old, at least for a five-year-old. Even then, Satoru canât bring himself to be annoyed with Ren since it is the boyâs special day. Satoru can still tease him though, âHow about you? Are you turning two?â
âFive!â Ren holds up his hand, showing off the number that heâs turning. Heâs upset too, thereâs no way he just got compared to a literal baby when heâs officially five. âCanât you see? Iâm not a baby anymore, daddy.â
âYou are so right. My apologies, Ren.â Satoru says, putting Ren back on the floor so he can walk to his chair. Ren takes a seat again, and begins to eat the special breakfast that was made for him. âHurry up, baby. I want you to open your gifts.â
âDonât listen to him, Ren. Donât give yourself a tummyache.â You quickly speak up. Ren has all the time in the world to open all of the gifts that Satoru brought himâ It might take a couple of hours with how easily distracted Ren gets, but you have time regardless.Â
Ren doesnât listen though, and he begins to stuff his face with the food thatâs in front of him. Heâll cry later about how his tummy hurts, yet this time you canât really scold him. You wonât pay any mind though, youâre fine as long as Ren enjoys his breakfast.
âMy mom is coming by later to drop off some gifts, and Sayo too.â Satoru announces, and you canât help but sigh. Itâs already hard enough to organize Renâs room with all that is there, by the end of tonight, youâre sure that heâll be moving in with you because his room will be covered in toys.Â
âDid you get me play-doh?â Ren is hopeful that heâs getting some new play-doh since all of his is dried up and hard after not properly putting it away. Satoru ruffles Renâs hair, and hums in response because of course he did. The kid wonât even get to go through all of what Satoru bought him.Â
âOh boy, heâs not sleeping tonight.â You stand up from the table. You try to smile at Satoru before announcing, âIâm gonna get ready. Watch him.â
Satoru doesnât need to be told twice before you walk away, leaving them alone. You wonât lie and say that youâre not a bit upset by all of this since for years itâs only been you and Ren. Even when he didnât know, and you could barely afford to live, you would buy him something for his birthday, and when you finally can get your son a couple of things, youâve been easily outshined. You wonât let it get to you, after all, Ren is happy. Either way, Mrs. Gojo outshined you last year when Ren turned four, you shouldnât be upset that Satoru outshined you this year too.
You pass by Renâs room, which is tidy and clean for the time being. What you should worry about is the mess thatâll come of it in a couple of hours.
âFinished! I wanna see my gifts!â Ren yells, and you chuckle before shaking your head. Forget about a couple of hours, the room has seen its last clean minutes.
Although itâs his birthday, Satoru canât completely take the day off. But he planned it out, heâll show up into the office, do a quick meeting and then spend the rest of the day with his son. Satoruâs main issue though, is that heâs become so attached that he doesnât want to leave Ren alone on this special day. Which is why his son sits on his lap in the middle of a meeting.Â
All eyes are on the five-year-old who colors a blank sheet of paper. Satoru is making an excellent report, but none of them care because Ren has caught their eye. Since when did Satoru have a child? Nobody heard of Sayo being pregnant, but perhaps itâs been hidden all this time. Thereâs absolutely no way that the child is anyone elseâs but Satoruâs, thatâs for sure.
âCan I go to mommy? Iâm bored.â Ren says, and Satoru doesnât stop what heâs saying, he simply puts Ren down on the floor. He runs out with his paper and crayon in his hands, making a couple of people laugh. They hear him call out for you, as he runs to your desk.
âWhatâs up, baby?â You ask him when he comes to you, holding up his drawing. Itâs just lines on paper, nothing impressive. You still manage to make him feel like heâs the best artist in the world. âI canât wait to hang this up on the fridge, this is your best work yet.â
âDo you think so?â Renâs eyes light up, and you hum in response. You take the paper from his hands and put it on your desk. You go to your desk, grabbing your purse to look for the toy that you packed for him. You know how sometimes he gets bored easily, you always have to find a backup plan. Satoruâs meeting is taking longer than expected.
âWhat do you want to do after lunch, honey?â You ask him as he takes his rightful seat in your comfortable desk chair. You have plans for a little party, but thatâs in the evening which means you have a whole afternoon free to do whatever Ren wants.Â
âCan weâ Hi grammy!â Ren canât even finish his sentence because he sees his grandmother, excitement rushing through him since he canât even remember the last time he saw her. He gets out of your chair to rush to her side, and a genuine smile comes to the womanâs face.
âRen, happy birthday, my love.â She picks him up and kisses his temple.
âThank you.â He answers. She brushes some hair out of his forehead, simply smiling at her grandson.
âYou look handsome today, is this what happens when you turn five?â She asks, and you feel awkward watching the interaction. Sheâs a wretched woman but one thing is for sure, she loves her grandson more than anything.
âI always look handsome.â He corrects her, which earns a laugh from her. She nods, completely agreeing with him. She ends up putting him down since heâs becoming too big for her to hold him for too long. She greets you but you donât engage in any type of conversation. She tells Ren,
âIâll see you later, honey. Iâll make sure to bring you all your gifts.â And Ren is grinning, thinking about all the gifts that he has yet to receiveâ Heâll be so busy tomorrow with all his new toys. She walks away, going to the conference room to join her son.Â
âHere.â You give Ren a toy, and he takes his seat on your chair again.Â
Deciding to host Renâs birthday party in the Gojo estate was the best idea youâve had in a while. When you get to the place, everything is already decorated. You wonât have to clean up a single thing by the end of the night, although you know youâre still going to try and help. Additionally, the place is massive, and Ren can run around freelyâ If he breaks a vase, thatâs Mrs. Gojoâs problem.Â
Ren loves his dadâs house since itâs massive, something that is vastly different from the apartment he lives in. The place has a big backyard that he can run in, and his room there is bigger with even more toys than at his home. Unluckily for Ren, youâre not letting him run in the backyard since itâs already getting dark out⊠Maybe if he begs enough you might consider, you are a sucker for him after all.
âWoahâŠâ Ren looks around with wide eyes, seeing how nice the house looks for his birthday. Itâs fair to say heâs happy with the results of everything, yet he doesnât see the giant cake Mrs. Gojo promised him, and heâs quick to point it out. He runs to your side and asks, âWhereâs my cake?â
âItâs coming out later, Ren.â You inform him, instantly making him pout. The child is so impatient sometimes, and sadly you canât do anything about it. Youâre fine as long as Ren doesnât try to do anything.Â
âWhereâs daddy?â Ren asks, and you shrug. Luckily for Ren, someone thatâs listening in immediately tells him that Satoru is in his bedroom. Ren drags you upstairs, to his fatherâs bedroom, a place youâre not sure you should be heading to in the first place but Ren is dragging you there.
âDonât you want to wait downstairs?â You ask Ren, and he shakes his head.
âWe have to give daddy his gift.â He tells you, and you canât help but sigh. Itâs fine anyway, you guess itâs better to give Satoru his gift now because thereâll be too many people around later. So many memories flood into your mind when you stand in front of Satoruâs door, both good and bad. The small time that you lived here with Ren, you made it your point to avoid this area. Now here you are with your son.
âRen, knock!â You scold him when he opens the door without even knocking first. Fortunately, Satoru had just finished getting dressed.
âThere you are! Iâve been waiting for you!â Satoru has the biggest smile on his lips when he sees Ren. They separated momentarily so they both could get ready for tonight, yet Satoru missed him so much. Satoru notices the gift bag that Ren holds, and he canât help but ask, âWhat do you have there?â
âItâs for you from me, mommy, and granny. Happy birthday, daddy!â Ren exclaims as he holds out the gift bag, and Satoru takes it. He looks inside, to find a white knitted sweater that he can only assume your mother made. He takes it out, and opens it to see how big it is; itâs a size too big, but he knows heâll be wearing it for the holidays. Satoru notices thereâs more inside.
âI didnât know what to get you since you have just about anything, so I just threw in some stuff that Iâd thought you would appreciate.â You inform him, and before he can say anything, you inform them, âIâll be waiting down stairs, I want to talk to my mom before Mrs. Gojo gets to her.â
Youâre out before either can protest. Ren doesnât care all that much either way, heâs more focused on what Satoruâs reaction will be to his gift. Satoru reaches in for Renâs gift, immediately knowing that itâs the drawing⊠Itâs certainly something. It fills Satoru with joy though.
âItâs me, you and mommy.â Ren clarifies, and Satoru certainly needed the clarificationâ Itâs beautiful though. Heâs sure this is the greatest gift that heâs ever gotten. Satoru puts the drawing down on his nightstand, picking up Ren and hugging the air out of him.
âI love you so much.â Satoru fills Renâs face with kisses. Heâs sure this is the best birthday heâs had in a while. When Satoru puts him down on the ground again, he ruffles Renâs hair before saying, âCan you wait for me downstairs?â
âArenât you going to open mommyâs gift?â Ren questions, and Satoru nods.
âWithout you. Give me a moment.â Satoru answers, and Ren pouts but he makes his way to the door. Ren makes sure to drag his feet, taking his sweet time to leave the door, and Satoru canât help but laugh. Heâs peeking into the bag to see what you got him.
Just as Ren is about to leave the room, Sayo barges in, a look of worry written all over her face. Satoru immediately knows itâs serious, because Sayo wouldnât even dare come into his room without making herself known.
âSayo, whatâsââ Satoru begins but heâs quickly cut off by Sayo.

âWhat are you going to do with him again?â Satoru asks as you get ready to meet up with Suguru. He talks as if he has any right to know. Youâre finishing up your makeup in your room while he stands in the doorway.
âDoes it concern you?â You look back at him. And he sighs before shaking his head. He guesses it doesnât. He canât argue with you about it, yet he stands there, leaning on the doorframe. You finish putting on your lipstick before looking back at him and raising your eyebrows, âArenât you going to Ren? Heâs waiting for you to talk about his birthday plans.â
âRightâŠâ Satoru answers, turning around and going to Ren. He finally leaves you alone with your thoughts, finally not having to listen to his stupid comments. As much as you donât enjoy his presence at the moment, you still have to tolerate him because of your son.
Slowly you are seeing his point of view, but that doesnât mean you forgive him. Satoru was young, easy to manipulateâ Well, you arenât exactly focused on his age but more about the fact that Satoru was recently grieving the loss of his father and in a way felt threatened that he would lose everything simply for not following orders. What hurts you the most right now is that he didnât even try to explain the situation to you, he assumed you were better off going your own separate ways.
âMommy!â Ren comes running into your room, disrupting the peace that you were just granted. You look at the puppy eyes that adorn his face, and you already know he wants something. You allow him to speak first, not wanting to accuse him of something that he might not even do. But youâre proven right, âCan I get a puppy for my birthday?â
âRemind me how old youâre turning, Ren.â You tell him, and Ren holds up five fingers, a grin on his face as he shows off his big age. You fight back a smile, trying your best to remain as serious as you can possibly be. You wonât be easily convinced by him. âFive. Such a big age, right? But not enough to take care of a puppy, plus youâre starting school soon.â
âSchool?â Ren asks as if itâs the first time he hears of it. Youâve been preparing for him, telling him about it daily.
âYou know, the place where youâll be going to learn and make friends for the next thirteen or so years of your life.â You answer, and his mouth turns into a circle when he remembers. âWhoâs going to take care of the puppy then? I still have to work.â
âGranny.â Ren answers, and you chuckle as you shake your head. Your mother isnât exactly a big pet person, if you were to give her the responsibility of taking care of a puppy, she might just kill you. He puts his hands together and begs, âPlease, mommy, please! I want a puppy!â
âRen, we both know thatââ You begin, but you realize youâre just wasting your breath. You look at the time, realizing that if you donât finish up soon, youâll be late. âTalk to your father about it, I have to finish getting ready.â
âDaddy!â Ren yells as he walks out of your bedroom. Maybe you made a mistake since Satoru loves to spoil Ren, and Satoru doesnât like to think of additional responsibilities since heâs not the one thatâs at Renâs side at all times.
Youâll deal with it when Satoru attempts to get Ren a puppy, for now youâre going to focus on your own problems. Your own problem being your meeting with Suguru.
You feel the nerves creeping through all of a sudden, and you have no idea why. Maybe itâs because you lied to him about Satoru, or maybe itâs because youâve been avoiding his calls. You take a deep breath to calm your nerves, looking at the time. If he doesnât get here within five minutes, youâll leave. Heâs running late, and you have no intention of waiting for him all day.
In reality, youâre just looking for an excuse to leave. You want to avoid this confrontation as much as you can, but you know you have to face him eventually. Suguru has been one of Satoruâs closest friends, and you were close to dating, the least you can do is give him one last conversation. You canât avoid him forever.
Your eyes shift back and forth between the time and the door, mentally praying that he doesnât show up. However, your prayers go unanswered when he walks through the door, his eyes immediately landing on you. He gives you a soft smile as he approaches your table.
âHi, Suguru.â You try to return his smile, but it looks awkward. Suguru points at the counter, telling you that heâs going to get his beverage before sitting down with you, to which you nod in response. You take another deep breath, trying to calm yourself. He looks fine, and you hate to ruin his dayâ Perhaps he wonât care, but you doubt it. You told him a very serious lie about his best friend, you doubt heâll be too happy with you after finding out.
âItâs so nice to see you after⊠So long.â Suguru sits across from you. You shift in your seat, adjusting your posture before focusing on him. You nod with an awkward smile on your face. At that moment you know, this is going to be a long hour.
âIt is.â You agree before a long awkward pause ensues. You clear your throat, about to ask him how heâs been holding up, but Suguru has other plans when he speaks up before you,
âWhy have you been avoiding me?â He goes straight to the point. Thereâs a reason why you two are there, and it isnât for small talk. Maybe you can get to more fun matters later or another day, but not right now.Â
âIâve just been busy with Satoru and figuring out this whole parent thing, thatâŠâ You begin with an excuse but you canât finish the sentence. You bite down your lip before you take a deep breath. You have to say it, if you keep dragging it youâll feel worse. âI partially lied to you. Satoru never suggested an abortion at the thought of me being pregnant, I didnât tell him because he didnât give me the chance to, and then I couldnât tell him because⊠His mother didnât want him to know.â
And he chuckles. Suguru lets out a laugh, which makes you furrow your brows. You expected many different reactions, but not a laugh. You chew on the inside of your cheek, anxiously waiting for him to say something else.
âIs that why you havenât been answering my calls?â Suguru asks, and you hum in response even though itâs not all. He lets out another laugh, and you want to ask why he laughs but you decide against it. You wait for him to finally say something else, although time feels as if it slows down. âDid you think I wouldnât find out?â
âHuh? What do you mean?â You sound utterly confused. What the hell is he talking about? How would Suguru know?
âI knew. I asked Satoru what he wouldâve done if you had gotten pregnant and he said he wouldâve stayed by your side.â He answers, and you let out a sigh of relief knowing that the situation wonât be the big mess that you were expecting. You do still feel guilty about it. âI mean sure⊠Satoru couldâve lied to me, but I donât think he would have.â
âWhy didnât you say anything about it?â Youâre curious as to why he decided to remain silent about this of all things. Itâs a serious matter, which you wouldâve expected him to furiously call you to berate you about. But you guess the man that sits across from you isnât that type of person.
âYou lied to me to protect your ass, and I canât really blame you for it.â He shrugs, and he couldâve left it at that and it wouldâve ended up perfectly fine. The conversation couldâve ended there and you would switch the topic and talk about more lighthearted stuff. But Suguru makes sure to add, âPlus Satoru also lied to you so youâre even, I guess.â
âDo you know?â You question, wondering why he brings up the fact that Satoru lied to you as well. You watch his cheeks turn pink when he realizes his words.
âKnow what?â He stutters, which says all you need to know. He knows. For how long has he known? He realizes immediately that heâs messed up. He gave himself away.
âFor how long have you known?â You immediately ask, and Suguru tries to play dumb, he claims he doesnât know what youâre talking about, making a fool of himself. Youâre clearly mad, but you try to not let it show through your tone. You try to take deep breaths.
âYou can say weâre kind of evenâŠâ Suguru scratches the back of his head, but thatâs not enough. Youâre not even because the situation with Ren had nothing to do with him, at least in your eyes. Yes, you lied to him, but it was your business, something that had nothing to do with him.
âDoes Shoko know too?â You scoff, and itâs merely a joke, but Suguru bites down his lip before commenting,
âI mean, considering the fact that sheâs sleeping with his wife, probably.â Which makes your eyes widen. Itâs shocking, but it makes a lot of sense. Youâre still speechless. âSatoru told me⊠A while ago.â
âI guess weâre even then.â You let out a chuckle, but itâs not humorous. Youâre clearly⊠Annoyed. âBut I think⊠I had different plans for us, and so did you. But we should remain as friends.â
âHuh? What do you mean?â He asks, confused why you say that. He knows youâre mad, but what youâre making is a rash decision. âYou donât mean what youâre saying, youâre just upset becauseââ
âNo, I know what Iâm saying. Suguru, I lied to you so I guess I shouldnât be too mad but I am. And I lied to you about Satoru, and⊠We shouldnât be together, I feel like we started this off wrong.â You respond, and it almost hurts to say.Â
âBut we can start over again without lies andââ He begins, and you cut him off.
âLetâs try to give it some time before even thinking about that. Iâm not really in the right headspace for a relationship.â You answer truthfully, and he furrows his brows. He doesnât know why, but that ticks him off.
âI bet youâll end up choosing Satoru again.â He sounds bitter, and you canât help but roll your eyes. Of course he says that, he assumes youâre so in love with Satoru that you canât have a relationship with him. Suguru thinks too mighty of himself. âExplains why you so adamantly ignored my calls, and why you were on vacation with himââ
âI have a son with him, Suguru. Of course Iâm going to do shit with him.â You interrupt him, standing up from your seat. He has his arms crossed, looking almost like a pouty child because he isnât getting his way. He almost reminds you of Satoru. âI told you we should give it time before we even begin to think about it. Donât make your case worse.â
He keeps silent while you walk away, deciding that youâre right. He isnât going to make his case worse.Â
âHow did it go?â Satoru seems as if he has been waiting by the door for you the entire time.Â
âHe knew?â You immediately ask, and he nods in response which makes you roll your eyes. âEveryone knows shit except me.â
âI can say the same about Ren.â Satoru argues, which is a great point, but you wonât admit it. You hand him your purse, as if he were your own little butler, and he proceeds to take it to your room.
âWhereâs Ren?â You half-yell, and the man shushes you, which earns a weird look from you. Thereâs no way he actually got Ren to fall asleep⊠But for what other reason would Satoru shush you?
âHeâs asleep.â Satoru informs you when he walks back, and you want to question what kind of sorcery the man is doing to make a boy that hates taking naps, fall asleep. You do appreciate it though, so you wonât complain.
You two awkwardly stand around, not sure what to speak about next since Ren is asleep. Thereâs something that comes to mind, but youâre not sure how appropriate the question is. Ren is asleep, so there shouldnât be an issue, however, you donât want to overstep any boundaries.
You still clear your throat though, âDid you know that Shoko wasââ
âI know.â Satoru chuckles. âRight when we got back, Shoko dug her claws into herâ Or Sayo did.â
âWere you upset when you found out? I mean, when we first saw each other again you called her love.â You bring up, walking over to the couch to take a seat, and he follows behind. Satoru takes a moment to think, and properly formulate his answer. He sighs before speaking up,
âI guess, for a moment I thought I loved her. Iâm very fond of her, and I confused my adoration for her as love. She knew what I was going through, and she was always sweet to me, we could make each other laugh. Overall, we got along.â He explains, and you listen attentively. Youâll do anything to gain a little bit of perspective into his mind. âWe just had each other, and that was that. But then you came into my life, and I remembered what love felt like.â
You feel your face get warm, and you look away from him. Maybe Suguru is rightâ You canât let him be right. Satoru still committed a lot of bad actions.Â
You stay silent and let a minute pass before speaking up again, changing the topic, âItâs not just Renâs birthday coming up, but also yours. What would you like?â
âI already have everything I could ever want.â Satoru answers, which makes your task slightly more difficult. Youâre still going to get him something for his birthday, even if itâs just a pair of socks. âHow about Ren? I heard he wants a puppy.â
âHeâs not getting one. Nope.â You tell him, and he laughs before nodding in response. Youâre not sure heâs gotten the message yet, but youâll make sure to remind him.
âWhat do you need, Satoru?â Youâre more than annoyed when youâre called into his office. You cross your arms, raising your brow as you look at him. The man looks a little too comfortable in his chair, and youâve seem to stop caring about how he behaves. If you looked closer, youâd see him fidgeting with his fingers, something he rarely does.
âI was wonderingâŠâ He begins, and you feel yourself get more and more irritated by the second. Heâs wasting your time. âDo you have any plans on Friday?â
âWork, and maybe take Ren to the movie theater to watch a new kidsâ movie.â You answer, and at first you donât understand why he asks. But then it clicks, and you find yourself even more irritated than before⊠Heâs not planning on asking you out, is he? Heâs not crazy enough to do that, at least you hope he isnât. Satoru has changed a lot, you never know just how crazy heâs gotten.
âCan we go out?â He blurts out, tripping over his words and it almost makes you laugh because heâs so nervous. But then you realize that heâs actually asking you out, and you furrow your brows.Â
âRen is coming along, right?â You question before deciding to berate him. Maybe youâre reading things wrong, and you donât want to argue with him for no reason, so you allow him to make himself clear. But he shakes his head, and you try to take a deep breath to gather your thoughts, âWhat do you want, Satoru?â
âI feel like we have to properly talk about everything, and sadly, we canât do that when Ren is around.â Satoru says, and he isnât wrong, but you donât really want to fix anything if it means that you have to be alone with him for an extended period of time. Youâre not sure what youâd do if you were alone with him, the moment you get your hands on him you might strangle him.Â
âI donât feel like itâs time yet, Satoru.â You tell him, and he bites his tongue. He thinks of how to argue with you, make a point that going with him is a smart decision. Itâll improve your relationship so you can be better parents to Ren.
âRen notices thereâs something wrong with us and he wonders why.â Satoru points out which isnât a lie. When Ren was staying over he asked why you were so mean to him or something like that, and Satoru didnât know how to explain himself. But he knows well that it isnât the reason why heâs asking you to dinner.Â
âWhy donât you tell him that itâs because his dad is a littleââ You begin but you cut yourself off. Youâre mad at him, you canât deny that, but it seems that he just wants to make sure your relationship is better so you can parent Ren cordially. You have been rather mean with him lately, so youâll control your tongue. âI just donât see the point of going out alone, our relationship can get better with Ren there..â
âDonât you want to talk about heavier topics? Youâll have to tell me whatâs on your mind, and you know that having Ren there isnât the best idea.â Satoru argues, and you hate the fact that heâs actually making a good point. âItâs a nice place.â
âFine, just text me the address and the dress code. Donât take me anywhere too fancy, I usually donât like the food there.â You answer, and Satoru nods in response. He has very different plans. Ones that probably arenât crossing your mind.Â
Ren is fairly surprised when you tell him that youâre going out with his daddyâ And you arenât taking him along. Heâs unsure what you could possibly do, but when he hears that heâs staying with your mom, he stops caring quickly. Ren loves spending time with his grandmother, so he doesnât have an issue being with her all night.Â
âWhere are we going?â You ask Satoru when you get into his car, and he tells you that itâs a surprise. Youâre not exactly excited nor do you wonder what the surprise is. The car ride is quiet, Satoru tries to make conversation that you donât care to engage in even though you know you should. This is to talk about the issues that you have, but you donât really want to talk.
He turns right, and youâre met with a gate which makes you furrow your brows. Where the hell did he take you? The gate opens and he drives into the place. The house is beautiful, you canât deny it, but you have no idea why youâre here.Â
âWhy are we here?â You ask him when he parks the car. Are you here for business? The lights are on so you assume someone lives in the place. Heâs fighting back a smile, getting out of his car and running to your side to open the door for you.
âWeâre meeting someone here.â He tells you, and you almost roll your eyes. You shouldâve known dinner couldnât have gone so smoothly. âI promise itâll be fun, nothing weird.â
âI have no option to trust you, do I?â You respond, following behind him after getting out of the car. You look at the house, one that you could only afford in your dreams. Well actually, it isnât impossible now. Regardless, itâd take so many years of your own effort to buy it.Â
You get confused when he opens the door with his own key, and you sigh, knowing that heâs just going to show off his new place. You step inside, and the place is bare, which is to be expected since it seems new. You clear your throat before speaking up, âWho exactly are we meeting?â
He grabs your hand, and you roll your eyes again but you donât yank your hand out of his grasp. He takes you to the huge kitchen, and he points to the person youâre meeting. Satoru says, âThis is our chef for the night. Heâll make whatever you want to eat.â
âOh.â Youâre fairly shocked, but you arenât too mad. âOkayâŠâ
âI hope itâs better than a restaurant.â Satoru laughs, trying to play it off as a thoughtful act. It is creative, and you canât exactly complain. But you know that part of the reason he does this is because he doesnât really remember what you like. âCâmon letâs take a seat. Iâll tell him what we want when you decide.â
âWell⊠What can I order?â You ask curiously, wondering what the chef has on hand. Sometimes you forget that Satoru is filthy rich and can buy out an entire grocery store without an issue.Â
âHeâll make anything you want.â Satoru answers with a smile as he leads you to the dining room. It has a huge table, one that reminds you of his motherâs house. Itâs huge, it can fit many people, but most of the time itâll be empty. He waits for you to take a seat, knowing that if he takes a seat first, youâll go as far away as possible. âWhen you decide Iâll tell him.â
âI really donât know. You can pick.â You respond, pulling a chair and taking a seat. He takes a seat right beside you, and you tense up. You canât help but point out, âYou have so many other chairs.â
âWeâre here to talk, are we not?â He tells you, and you roll your eyes. He isnât wrong, but he doesnât have to sit so close when there are so many other chairs. You donât want him so close. He clears his throat before saying, âDinner is for you, you can pick.â
âI guessâŠâ You try to come up with something but you donât. Satoru taps his finger on the table, growing impatient. âCanât you just pick? Iâve already been forced to be here tonight.â
âFine.â Satoru ends up sighing. He stands up and walks to the kitchen to put in his request, leaving you alone to stare at your surroundings. Itâs a beautiful home, but you would change the little decorations that youâve seen. Itâs not up to you anyway.
You hear your phone ring, grabbing it from your purse. You notice that Suguru calls, and you debate on rejecting the phone callâ Youâve been ignoring him for so long, but itâs about time you answer his call. Satoru is in another room so you can make it quickly. You end up picking up the phone, bringing it to your ear, âHi Suguru.â
âHiâŠâ He answers, sounding shocked that you actually picked up the phone. âCan we talk?â
âUmâŠâ You donât know how to answer. You just know you have to do it before Satoru gets back because youâre not sure that Suguru hearing Satoruâs voice is a good idea. You donât know your way around the house, but you stand up from your chair and walk out of the living room, just in case Satoru gets back and makes himself known. âActually, Iâm out to dinner with someone so I canât right now⊠Do you want to meet up soon?â
âYeah, we can do that.â He agrees. âSo, what do you want to do?â
You hang up the phone, and turn around to find Satoru, who finally spots you. He raises his brows, asking, âWho were you talking to?â
âDoes it concern you?â You reply which makes Satoru chuckle. He guesses it doesnât. You two walk back to the dining room, sitting back in the same spots. You start off with a simple appetizer, and some drinks, food that you know Satoru loves. You eat in silence, and youâre forced to speak up, âYou insisted that we have to talk, so talk, Satoru.â
âI want to⊠Apologize.â He begins and when he doesnât get any more specific, you reply with,
âFor?âÂ
âForâŠâ Itâs hard to get the words out even though he knows exactly what he should apologize for. He bites down his lip as he gathers his words. How can he say it without sounding like a total jerk. He blurts out, and you barely understand what he says, âFor leaving you when you needed me without an explanation.â
âAnd?â You respond because heâs still missing a bit. You feel yourself getting more annoyed by his silence, and you have to take a deep breath to compose yourself. âI mean, you left me for money, is that the best you can do?â
âI just donât know how to properly apologize, you should know Iâm not used to apologies.â He claims, and you roll your eyes. Of course he says that instead of thinking of a way to apologize better. He watches you cross your arms, a look of clear anger on your face. âI shouldnât have done that, I know.â
âYou know? But you changed your number and completely cut me out of your lifeâ And not for love, because as much as it hurts, I wouldâve preferred you leaving me because you fell in love with someone else⊠Maybe I wouldâve understood it better.â You begin, and you feel your heart break again. You thought you had gotten used to the fact that Satoru left you for his own financial benefit. âI donât even get why you cut me off completely⊠Maybe if you had explained everything to me then maybe I could have stuck around but you decided that you wanted me out of your life completely.â
âI just thought you deserved to move on and forget about me.â Satoru argues, and your hands ball up into fists. Heâs trying to save his own ass, and it bugs you. The benevolent Satoru. âI just didnât know you were pregnant with Ren.â
âYou know, Satoru, it hurts to know that you were fine with leaving me like nothingâ And honestly Iâm glad that you cut me off when I was about to tell you that I thought I was pregnant.â You feel tears well up in your eyes but you hold them back. Itâs fine, youâre fine. Youâre over it. You are. âHave I never been worth anything to you?â
âOf course you do, you areââ You cut him off before he can finish his sentence.
âNot just as Renâs mother, because before that I was your friend and your girlfriend for so many years.â You try not to let it show that youâre deeply hurt, but it shows. Itâs hard not to because the man that you swore you would spend the rest of your life with quickly disregarded your relationship⊠And the only reason he seems to regret everything is because of his son. âWas your love just a lie?â
âItâs not like that. You know that I love you so much.â He says and his words sting. How dare he say that he loves you? How does he have the audacity to say that? âI justâŠâ
âJust what?â You donât even give him a chance to finish his sentence. âDonât you ever say that you love me again, Satoru.â
âYou know my mom wouldâve made your life miserable if I hadnât gone with Sayo, in the end, I did what was best for the two of us.â Satoru argues, and you stand up from your chair. You canât stand to be in the same place as him anymore. He watches you begin to walk away and he has to stand up as well, âWait, letâs finish this, please. For Ren.â
âNo, I have to go. I canât stand to be in this place with you any longer. Youâre so⊠Why canât you just admit that youâre fucking selfish? Not only that, just admit that you havenât cared about me, Satoru. I have always come second to you, and suddenly youâre acting like you arenât at fault for this, that your mother forced you to make the choice when we both know that you made that choice all on your own.â It genuinely hurts you that Satoru ended up being a completely different personâ Or maybe Satoru was this same person all along, you just hadnât noticed it before.
âYouâre right. I did. I made the decision all on my own and I canât blame anyone else.â He finally admits, which should give you some satisfaction but it doesnât. Youâre taking deep breaths to stop yourself from crying but the tears are coming down your face. Satoruâs heart breaks as he finally watches you break down, and he steps toward you to comfort you. He pulls you into a hug, âIâm so sorry, please donât cry.â
Itâs so tempting to hug him back, but you canât. You push him away, you donât want to be met by his warm embrace; you donât need his comfort. You wipe away your tears, âIâll forgive you for Ren, but donât you ever try anything with me.â
âOkayâŠâ He responds, but knowing Satoru, the last part went in one ear and out the other. âCâmon, letâs sit down, our main course is almost ready.â
âI want to go back home to my baby boy.â You tell him, and Satoru sighs. He canât argue and say anything thatâll make you want to stay a little longer, so he wonât keep you here.
âI also had a surprise for you.â Satoru mentions, but you arenât really interested. âIâll tell you when itâs more ready though, and when youâre less mad at me.â
âLetâs just go.â You respond, really not caring to ask. He doesnât spark curiosity in you. Just as you begin to walk out of the dining room, your chef comes out with the main course. He sets it down on the table, and your eyes spark. You look back at Satoru a little shocked but you proceed to tell him, âI changed my mind.â
âReally?â He has to fight a smirk off his face. You really thought you had him read like a book, but perhaps you are wrong in some aspects. He jokingly asks, âWhy is that?â
Youâre not exactly on the best terms with Satoru when your vacation comes to an end. You try to act like youâre fine, but you canât stand even looking at him. Perhaps you shouldnât have asked for the reason why he left if you knew you couldnât handle the truth. Everything with Satoru was doing great until you decided to ask that question. You knew you shouldâve left it alone, but curiosity got the best of you.
Satoru knows that he messed up, he knew so long before but now youâre⊠Even colder towards him. He never really thought that was possible, but youâve proved him wrong. Maybe itâs because now that he knows that you have a son together, you should communicate more, yet, you donât talk about anything that doesnât involve Ren.Â
Lately thatâs the only topic of conversation that he can have with you without you outright ignoring himâ And about work of course. Satoru canât even be mad at you for ignoring him because he knows that he fucked up badly. He thinks that maybe he shouldnât have told you the truth, but if he keeps hiding stuff then your relationship will end up nonexistent.
âHey.â He grabs your arm when youâre about to walk past him without saying a word. You glare at him, your look giving him a warning to let go of you. He does just as your eyes tell him. âMy mom⊠Invited you to dinner.â
âAre you crazy? Why would I?â You donât hold back on giving him attitude, he deserves it and you know he wonât do anything about it. You click your tongue, âYouâve lost your mind.â
âShe just wants to see Ren.â He says, but it doesnât change your mind about anything. You donât care what she wants to do, she has to learn that sheâs not entitled to your child.
âI love how you forgive her so easily. I know that if I was in your situationâŠâ You begin but you end up biting your tongue. He made the right decision. âWhat does she even want? She can stop by the apartment if she wants to see Ren so badly. The woman is unemployed, she has time.â
âI think she wants to talk about getting a tutor for Ren.â Satoru shares, and you sigh. Sheâs brought up getting a tutor for your son and youâve turned her down. Ren is going to start school soon, you just want him to enjoy the time he has left before going to school daily. He knows everything thatâs necessary, at least from what youâve seen.
âCan you tell her to drop it?â You respond, and Satoru takes a deep breath. He doesnât really want to get in between your issues. He also doesnât see a downside to a tutor so he canât really agree with you.
âWhy shouldnât Ren have a tutor? I mean, since you didnât send him to preschool thenââ He says, and you have to cut him off. Heâs irritating you more than ever.
âRen is fine without one, Satoru. Iâve made my decision. This conversation is over.â You tell him, and he clenches his jaw. You walk away, and the man curses under his breath. You hear it though, and you just tell yourself that if he dares stop by, youâll slam the door in his face.
âDaddy!â You hear Ren yell. A sigh escapes your lips as you stand in the kitchen. The plan was to not let him in, but you forget that this is his motherâs apartment and he obviously can get entrance easily. You shouldnât be upset, Ren is happy to see his father⊠But you really donât want to spend more time with Satoru.
Perhaps you should consider having split custody but the thought of not having Ren by your side at all times hurts. Itâs selfish, but you think you have the right to be selfish after everything. Satoru canât be the only selfish one here.
You turn off the stove and wipe your hands before walking out of the kitchen. You glare at Satoru as he picks up Ren from the floor, and he begins to talk to his son. Satoru looks at you briefly before looking away. For a man that wants your forgiveness, he sure loves to piss you off, at least thatâs what it seems.
âItâs nice to see you, Satoru. Next time send a message.â You say to the man, who smiles at you. You roll your eyes at him, and Satoru bites down his bottom lip. He mutters an apology, but you pretend not to hear it. âI made dinner for two, seems like youâll have to sit this one out.â
âItâs fine. Iâm not hungry.â He lies. He hears his stomach growl but itâs not like he was expecting to have dinner with you and Ren. You do usually make extra though. He doesnât know why he was expecting differently since heâs not in your good graces right now.
âAre you hungry?â Ren asks, and Satoru shakes his head. However, Ren hears Satoruâs stomach growl again. When you walk away, Ren puts his ear around Satoruâs ear, bringing his little lips to Satoruâs ear, âWe can share my dinner.â
âItâs okay, baby. Youâre a growing boy, you need it more than me.â Satoru grins. His son really is an angel sent from heavenâ Well maybe not that, but heâs certainly sweet. âIâll just order something, and get you a dessert too.â
âCan it be ice cream?â Ren looks at his father with puppy eyes but Satoru isnât too sure that getting ice cream delivered is a good idea.
âWeâll see.â Satoru says before putting Ren down on the floor. Satoru puts his hands in his pockets, awkwardly watching as Ren goes to your side. The food youâre making smells so good, and his mouth is salivating.Â
âRen, take a seat, baby. Iâll give you your plate.â You tell the boy, and Ren nods in response. He makes sure to grab Satoruâs hand and drag him to the dinner table. Satoru canât help but notice how Ren grew an inch. That almost brings a tear to Satoruâs eye because the kid is growing up too fast.Â
Itâs awkward to have Satoru sit at the dinner table while you and Ren eat. But Satoru wasnât invited so he shouldnât expect to have a plate. Especially when youâre mad at him.
âCan daddy sleep over?â Ren asks you, and you shake your head. Thereâs no space for Satoru in your home.
âHe has his own home, and he has to say hello to his mom and his wiââ Satoru cuts you off before you can get the last word out.
âYeah, I have to go back home before my own mommy gets worried about me.â Satoru chuckles, and he canât even believe the words that leave his lips. He doubts his mother would get too worried about him. Only God knows how badly he wants to stay the night, he misses staying under the same roof as his son, but he knows youâd be too uncomfortable. He wishes he could go back to your vacation.Â
Ren pouts, and you take a deep breath, knowing whatâs about to come. However, youâre proven wrong when Ren decides to stay quiet. Instead, he asks for something different a few minutes later, âCan I stay with daddy?â
âAs in?â You respond. You have an idea of what he means, but you donât really want it to be what youâre thinking.
âCan I go to his home and sleep over?â His words hurt your heart but you canât say no. You donât feel like you have the right to say no. In the end, Satoru is still his dad and Satoru should be able to have him spend the night.
âIf Satoru wants.â You respond, putting down your utensils because your appetite dies down. Satoru smiles at his son and nods, making you take a sip of your drink. You clear your throat and say, âIâll go pack your bag.â
âI can helpââ Satoru begins, but you donât want nor need his help.
âIâm fine. Just watch Ren.â Your voice is a bit harsher than you mean it to be. You donât mean to sound mad or upset, yet, thatâs what your voice emits. Ren looks at his father, about to ask if youâre upset but he decides to stay quiet.Â
âAre you excited?â Satoru rubs Renâs back, smiling big at his son. Ren nods in response. He wonders where his dad lives, and how he lives. Heâs not remember his grandmotherâs big mansion, plus his father is a grown man, he ought to live separately from his grandmother.
âI donât want mommy to be upset.â Ren comments, and Satoru sighs.Â
âSheâs not upset, if she was, she wouldnât have let you go with me.â Satoru claims, and that makes a lot of sense in Renâs mind so he allows himself to be happy about it. Ren stands up on his chair, looking at the hallway where his bedroom door is. When he knows the coast is clear, he gives his plate to Satoru.
âSince youâre hungry, you can have my leftovers.â Ren says when he sits back down. Satoru laughs before kissing the top of Renâs head. He really canât thank you enough for Ren. Youâre not even talking to him though, and he has to think of how to fix that because showing up unannounced at your apartment isnât going to.
âRen⊠Whatâs a gift your mommy would really like?â Satoru canât believe heâs asking his four-year-old (who keeps reminding everyone that heâs almost five) what to get for you. A couple of years ago Satoru wouldâve known immediately, but youâve changed. The person that knows you better than anyone is your son.
âA puppy.â Ren doesnât waste a second. Now, Satoru doesnât know you as well as he did, but what Ren answered sounds like something that Ren wants and not you. Satoru crosses his arms and raises his brows.
âReally? Is that something mommy wants or something Ren wants?â Satoru says, and Ren purses his lips together. How the hell is he supposed to know what you like? Satoru ends up sighing. Heâll figure it out.
He makes sure to finish the food quickly before you get back, putting the plate back on Renâs side. Satoru ruffles Renâs hair and stands up to go to the kitchen to get himself a glass of water. Satoru hears,
âHereâs your bag, Ren. Listen to whatever your daddy says.â And Satoru almost laughs at how stoic you sound.
âWeâre not leaving yet!â Satoru yells from the kitchen before walking back. Satoru doesnât really like being in his home for too long, why would he immediately leave? Heâs still going to pester you, even if youâre mad at him. âHow about we watch a movie here?â
âI mean, itâs not like I can kick you out. You have a key to the place.â You answer. âKnock yourselves outâ Hold on, Renâs plate is too clean.â
âThe boy was hungry, what can I say?â Satoru and Ren have been caught red-handed.Â
âYeah, little Ren that barely touches his carrots finished them all?â You click your tongue, and Satoru scratches the back of his neck.Â
âWeâve got a growing boyâŠâ Satoru chuckles, and you roll your eyes.
The rest of your trip runs smoothly. Thankfully, Satoru didnât try to pull another stunt that made you want to gouge his eyes out. Ren is over the moon by going to the beach daily, going to new places to explore, trying new delicious food, and what matters the most, spending time with his mother and father. Sadly, his vacation canât last forever.
Ren is gloomy the day before youâre supposed to leave, begging you and his father to stay a little longer. Satoru wants to say yes, and he would in a heartbeat if he didnât have to work. As much as it pains him, he canât give up everything to be a father. The next best solution is wait for Ren to leave you alone for a minute just to ask,Â
âHow about I extend your vacation for another week? Iâll leave, and Sayo probably wonât stay either. Just you and Ren.â And itâs tempting. You really want to say yes, but you also want to go back and resolve other issues. Plus, Ren is getting accustomed to getting whatever he wants, and youâre worried that he might become more like his father which is something that you definitely donât want.
âWe can come back some other time. Itâs about time I go home.â You answer, and he nods in response. And as selfish as it sounds, Satoru is happy that you declined because he hates the idea of spending a week without seeing his son. Itâs crazy to think that he lived a whole life before Ren, and the moment the little boy came into his life, Ren became everything to Satoru.
âAlright⊠Guess we have to make the most out of today so Ren cheers up.â Satoru says, glancing at his baby boy whoâs plopped down on the couch, lamenting himself because he has to leave soon. Unluckily for everyone, itâs a rainy day outside.Â
âThereâs really not much we can do.â You tell him, and Satoru sighs. He wishes there was something he could do to make the sun come out, but no amount of money can control that. Satoru ponders, wondering what he can do to cheer his son up.
âI got it.â His eyes light up, and he runs upstairs. You furrow your brows in confusion before walking over to sit beside Ren. Your hand runs up and down his back, attempting to soothe him.
âI donât wanna go home. I like it here.â He kicks his feet into the couch, and you make sure to keep your distance. Ren doesnât want to go home, he likes it here. Heâs with both of you the entire day, and youâre giving him all of your attention, how can he not like it? He knows the moment you go back, things will go back to normal. Heâs gotten used to this, he doesnât want to go back to normal.
âWe have to, Ren. Your granny and grammy miss you, and I have to get back to my job.â You tell him, hoping that mentioning his grandmothers will make him reconsider. He loves them with all his heart, but truthfully, he prefers spending the entire day with you.
âI want to stay!â He yells, and a sigh escapes your lips as you pinch the bridge of your nose. He needs to let it out, you know heâs upset. But he shouldnât be using his voice like that.Â
âWeâre not coming back if you keep throwing a tantrum.â You warn him before standing up and going to your bedroom. You donât want to yell at him, so removing yourself from the situation is the best thing to do. Ren is still going to throw his tantrum, and you can only talk about the situation after.Â
âIâm here!â You hear Satoru yell from the living room. Youâre going to leave him to handle it, not making an effort to get up from bed. Until Satoru calls out your name, and you groan before getting up and walking over to the living room. You smile, seeing how Renâs demeanor has changed, kneeling down on the floor in front of the coffee table, waiting for his father to open up the box that he brought down. âI remembered I had a board game here.â
âIs this the home you used to come to as a kid?â You ask, wondering why he has the board game with him. Satoru nods in response, sitting down beside the coffee table to open the old box.
He used to play this game with his dad after getting home from the beach. Itâs a game thatâs more fun when played with more than two people, but Satoru didnât really have that option. Regardless, he still had fun with his dad. Growing up, the only time that Satoru actually spent with his parents was the little vacations that they had yearly. He has very fond memories of this place, and of the board game that he opens.
âI havenât played this in years, I have to read the rules again.â Satoru canât help but laugh as he takes out every piece. He remembers every time being so excited to tell you about the game, begging his father to take the game back home or buy a new one for his house so he could play with you, but both of them always forgot. Luckily, he gets to play with you for the first time, and with your son as well.
âTake all the time you need.â You answer. Your eyes fall on your son, noting his somewhat puffy eyes. You ask him, âAre you better, Ren?â
âI am.â He nods. Pulling out the game completely changed his attitude. You canât get too mad at him, he just got into this world. Heâs just figuring things out, slowly learning that he canât get everything even if his father wants to give him the world.Â
Like father, like son. Both are sore losers. After losing to you, both have pouty faces and you swear Ren is on the verge of tears. Ren doesnât nap anymore, but you decide that after all his crying, youâll put him to bed. You cuddle with him until Ren falls asleep, and once youâre sure heâs dreaming, you get up from bed and leave your bedroom.Â
Satoruâs in the living room, going through his phone. You donât want to be alone with him so you hope that going to the kitchen and getting yourself a glass of water will give him the hint. He can go to his bedroom and scroll through his phone there. However, when he hears you, he says, âCome join me!â
You sigh, but you still walk over to the couch and take a seat on the other end. You pull out your phone, while he turns his off. Itâs completely silent for a minute before he clears his throat and asks, âAre you still talking to Suguru?â
âDoes it concern you?â You quickly reply. Itâs not his business, especially when he doesnât tell you whatâs going on with him and Sayo.
âI want to know if heâs the possible stepfather to my son.â Satoru answers, and you furrow your eyebrows. You put your phone down and look at him before tilting your head to the side.
âWhat about you and Sayo? Sheâs the stepmother to my son and you have yet to tell me a thing about your relationship with her.â You respond, and he purses his lips together. Youâre right, youâre absolutely right, but this isnât about him. âI have no idea about your arrangement with her either⊠The one that she mentioned.â
âWe donât have an arrangement.â Satoru scratches the back of his neck, clearly nervous about the question. Heâs not with her out of love, heâs made that clear. Yet⊠Why is he denying it?
âThe same way Suguru and I have nothing going on.â You answer, hoping thatâll make him speak. Although you arenât lying, you feel as if you have nothing going on with Suguru right now. Youâre avoiding his calls and texts, you definitely donât have a future together after this. âLook, Satoru. I just want the truth, an explanation to everything. Maybe some closure.âÂ
The man takes a deep breath, and you know that heâs about to tell you the truth. You can read him like a book. Satoru bites down his lip before confessing, âI didnât marry her out of love but out of convenience.â
Thatâs certainly a start, although you arenât too shocked. Maybe you are a bit surprised since you assumed they fell out of love instead of straight up thinking it was arranged. He takes another deep breath before he says,
âWhen my father died, my mom knew that I wouldnât be trusted with his spot⊠Since I was considered too immature. Also for other business purposes, merging the company that Sayoâs family owns with our own.â He begins, and you feel a pain that you havenât felt in years. A sudden pain that consumes your body in a matter of seconds, and it only gets worse with his words. âThere was another promising candidate that wouldâve handled the job while I finished my studies, and my mom was scared that we would lose control. Iâve never been too well liked by them.â
You look down at the couch, feeling your eyes getting glossy as he speaks. You thought you were over this, you really were. He continues speaking, âGetting married to Sayo was my momâs great solution⊠Getting married to a woman with status would show how mature I was, ready to take the spot.â
âAnd⊠I agreed. We would get married and stay like that until I had my job. I could show that I was great at what I was entrusted to do, and then I would get a divorce.â He explains, and you exhale. Your nails dig into the fabric of your pants, trying your best not to cry⊠This is why he did it. Money. Money was more important to him than your relationship.
He changed his number and completely blocked you out of his life. He treated you like he always did when you werenât convenient to him. With contempt and superiority. As he speaks, you realize that you will never manage to be together without some kind of issue.
âIâ Iâm sorry.â He says, as his hand goes to your hand, but you jerk it out. Itâs no surprise that he didnât want to tell you, heâs right for not telling you. You almost wouldâve preferred to hear that he left you because of love for someone else.Â
You try not to let a single tear slip even though your heart breaks again. You wouldâve left anything and everything behind for him, yet he didnât even think twice before leaving you. And Satoru feels speechless as youâre on the verge of tears. He tells you, âIt was a dumb decision, and given the option again, I would leave everything behind for you and for Ren.â
You stand up from the couch. You suddenly feel suffocated in the room. He wouldnât choose you if he had the option, heâs only do it for Ren, and that realization makes it hard for you to breathe. But youâre glad he did it. It wasnât his first time, just this time you realized you would never be his first option.
âNo, you made the right decision.â You try to smile at him, attempting to hide the fact that tears are streaming down your cheeks. âThank you for picking right.â
Morning after the adventure with the dangerous stranger went just like you suspected - horribly, but that wasn't the worst that was waiting for you.

Being soft was a trait that Sukuna never actively credited himself with. He never had any urge to do so, never needed to explore that side of him and in his profession, that would most likely lead to a certain death. Leading people of mafia required him to be harsh and rough, there was no time and place for any kindness and gentleness and honestly, if anybody asked him about it just yesterday, he would say with certainty that the softness in him died long time ago. Even with women, he was never exactly sensual â heâs rather the type to take what he needs, devour what heâs hungry for and leave. Aftercare wasnât his strong suit, for some reason inside his mind taking care of someone made him weak. That was before you.
You met not even a day ago, you asked for his help and once you got his attention, he knew he was fucked. You were just so gorgeous, so innocent and the way your glossed with tears eyes looked into his, he felt the strangest warmth inside his chest â a need of protection? Something so foreign and absurd that wouldnât usually cross his mind. But then, he had you in his house, he had you on top of him and he had you hungry. You were smart, surely you noticed the gun pinned to his belt, he wasnât exactly discreet about it and yet, you chose to stay with him for the night. It had to be some kind of sinister plan of yours, Sukuna wondered.
Were you put in his way to sabotage him?
He had no idea, but once the day was bright and now close to evening, you were still sleeping in his bed, with your head resting atop of his chest and one of your legs thrown over his own. You were breathing slowly and peacefully, so blissfully unaware of how dangerous it is for you to be in the same house with him, not to mention lay tangled with him below the sheets. As he smoothed over your bare shoulder with his fingers, he was thinking about how the night went. The sex was great, the best he had in years. You were playing along with him, you wanted him as much as he wanted you and as you playfully fought for dominance with him, he could have sworn it was the sexiest thing heâs ever experienced. The way you tugged his hair, pushing him nose deep into your dripping core and keeping him there until he made you cum almost made him cum as well, just from the slight dominance you had on him. Even though he allowed this to happen. He could still recall the delicious sting of your nails scratching red marks onto his back and shoulders. Every time his name slipped over your tongue, his heart seemed to skip a beat.
Just like that, youâve got him hooked, but even so, he should have kept his word. He should have made you get dressed, maybe, out of curtesy, allow you to take a shower so that his seed wouldnât run down your legs and mess up the leather in his car. He should have driven you home as soon as he was finished with you, but he didnât. He couldnât. Not when you wrapped yourself around him, exhausted and already half-asleep, searching for the warmth of his body. Not when your weight on top of him felt like it was meant to lay there and especially not when your lips pressed few lazy kisses to the side of his neck before you dozed off.
You moved, rolling away from him and onto your back. You were waking up, he could tell by the sound of your quiet hums and the way your breath pattern changed from slow and calm to deep and more present. Sukuna flipped to his side, taking in the beauty of your features, now illuminated with the daylight. Your makeup kept up pretty well and even the smudged edges couldnât take away your loveliness.
You hummed a little louder, groggily reaching up with your hands and arching your back like a cat in a long, sharp stretch. The covers slipped off your chest, exposing the pink of your nipples that now matched the many marks he had sucked onto your flesh just hours ago. Then your body relaxed, once again falling onto the mattress and a smile stretched your lips when Ryomen put his fingers against your skin. He brushed it ever so lightly along the shapes of your form, running along your collar bones, circling around the nipples and then, moving it down up and down your sternum.
âGood morning,â you purred against his lips when he reached to kiss you.
âMore like good evening,â he replied, his voice quiet and calm as he moved his hand to the side of your body and pulled you flush against his chest. You hooked your leg onto his hip and wrapped your arms around his neck, burying your fingers into his hair.
âThat late, huh?â
âThat late.â
It was dangerous. The way you looked into his eyes, the relaxed stance your body, oblivious to the fact you were in the embrace of death personified â it was all too dangerous for Sukuna. It was too warm, too lovely, too innocent. He hated the vulnerability you subjected him to and the fact his head was filled with wishes to protect you? Fuck, it was bad. It wasnât him, it wasnât what he stood for in his life, it was against all of his morals. He had always been a man of few emotions, always cold and never letting anything or anyone get to him. He was calculating, feared by many and respected by few. He had risen through the ranks of the underworld by means that were often brutal and always efficient. Never, not once, he had let emotions to cloud his judgement or stand in the way of his goals. But then, you happened.
âThe nightâŠâ You murmured softly, brushing the tip of your nose against his own. âI enjoyed it very much, âkunaââ And the nickname?!
âThatâs enough,â he groaned, his tone coming in sharp and cold and it immediately brought you back to your senses. The wishful daze of bliss vanished in an instant, suddenly the tension came back to your shoulders. It was too much for Sukuna, he wanted to have a nice fuck that night and he already made a mistake by letting you stay in his bed when he was done with you. It was dangerous for you, it was dangerous for him and honestly, that lovey-dovey shit has never been his brand anyway. âTime for you to go.â
âWhat happened? You were so delicate just a moment agoââ
âSpare me the dumb romantic shit. I just wanted to fuck you, donât get ahead of yourself and if you wish to keep that pretty head of yours then better get fucking going. Iâll have a driver take you back home.â He shut you down roughly and from that point, it all went quickly. You were gone in just few moments. You were gone, but the man felt no relief.
âŠ
Few days passed by. Or was it weeks? Sukuna couldnât tell as days began blurring their edges and all he could focus on was you. He couldnât rid himself of the memory of you rushing in fear, just barely clothed as if he was about to hunt you down and shot you in the head if you didnât leave his space. As if the one minute longer would cost you your life. Every time he closed his eyes or got into his bed he could see the picture of your face, the display of hurt and fright that stained the beautiful innocence in the moment he had told you to leave, discarding you as if you were a toy that he used and got bored of.
What was this feeling? He was asking himself every time he had watched you from afar. Was it guilt? He couldnât tell, it felt foreign. For Ryomen it was an everyday thing to scare someone off, the blood of his enemies is what heâs ravishing in but you⊠You were far from being his enemy. And so he found himself more and more often observing you, each time being in the same place as you by accident. You made him fascinated, you made him fall into your trap. He found himself drawn to you, drawn to the light that you brought with you. He was missing you. Was that your plan all along? A revenge for how he had treated you that one night?
Sukuna had never thought of himself as a romantic, but there was something about you that did it for him. You were soft, gentle and vulnerable in a way that made him want to protect you, to shield you from the violent life he led. And yet, you were also strong, strong enough to face him, to challenge him and even make him laugh. It was a strange combination, and it made him feel things he had never felt before. He didnât want to admit it to himself, but he was thinking of you more and more often. He had to be careful, though. He could tell that you were innocent, that you didnât understand the world he lived in. If he let himself get to close, he might put you in danger and the thought of that, he couldnât bear. He had a responsibility to keep you safe, even if it meant pushing you away. And for the first time in his life, he was scared. Scared that if he plays this whole thing wrong, he might lose you, even if he never truly had you. He was scared youâll find out who he really was and scared of what that would do to you. He knew you noticed his gun, you had to notice it, but did you really had any idea what that meant?
For you, the time after meeting the stranger in the club was everything but easy. The hurt subsided quite rapidly, your heart wasnât stupid enough to grow attached to a man youâd known for just few hours and deep down you knew that what you started by asking him for help had to end up somewhat similar to what happened. He wasnât a prince from the fairy tale and you were no princess, it wasnât a story of love, it was just sex and with that, you came to terms quite quickly. It was the fright that you couldnât shake off your shoulders. Sukuna was a man that was keeping a gun attached to his belt, he had to be a gangster or something along these lines and considering the big, rounded and scared eyes of everyone in his proximity youâd only assume that his position in the world was at least threatening. It stayed in the back of your mind that he might have come for you, to hurt you or worse. He had shown you where he lives, after all, wasnât that enough of a reason to erase someone from the world?
âyou opened your eyes feeling pain. At first, you couldnât tell what happened to you. Where were you? How did you get here? And why was everything so white?
Breathe in and out. Why did breathing hurt? And what was that beeping?
âYouâre awake,â a voice made you turn your head to the side. And then, at the sight of a familiar face, it all flashed back.
âWhat do we have here, eh?â One of the men spoke and as you looked up, two faces were glaring at you with disgusting sense of superiority. âOi, Naoya, is that the bitch you were talking about?â
âBet it is,â the second man snorted. âShe fits the description.â
Naoya? The name rang a bell so roughly and suddenly that your eyes widened in fear. It was the man you met in the club, the one that was all over you the second he met you. The one that you escaped only thanks to asking another stranger for help. But now, you couldnât see him. Who stood above you was a man with long, silver hair and a face covered in linear scars. He was wearing a face of psychotic content, a grin so unsettling that it froze the blood inside your veins and just by the look of him you could tell he was dangerous. And then, the second one stood right next to him â his hair was pitch black and eyes probably green-ish, with little scar on the side of his lip that made itself apparent the moment you looked at him. He was insanely well-built, in a shirt that looked like one of those compression, sport-related attires.
âWhat do you want from meâŠ?â You asked, your voice uncharacteristically quiet, as if the fear made your vocal cords clench. And you felt it, an unsettling feeling of upcoming death and it led to a chain of regret of every choice that you made that led you to this place and time. You shouldâve taken a taxi. Or go a different route.
âOh, weâre here to teach you a lesson,â the white-haired one responded as the other grinned like the devil himself. And then, they moved to the sides a little and right in the middle appeared the man that you do recognize. Naoya Zenin himself, with his face twisted in some kind of sick satisfaction as he grabbed your hair and yanked you up from the ground. Your back hit the concrete wall and his near proximity made you instantly tensed.
âI got you,â he grinned and there was violence intertwined into the expression his face bore. âI finally fucking got you.â
âJust leave me aloneâŠâ You demanded, your voice much weaker that youâd like it to be, much less constructive, not confident at all. You were frightened, to say the least, there was no way you could protect yourself from one man, but three? âPlease.â As you begged, your own death flashed before your eyes. There was no way in hell youâre gonna survive this, that had to be it. The night was dark enough to cover the crime that was happening and even if there would be any bravery in you still left, nobody would help you. No one would be dumb enough to stand against the group that was about to abuse you.
âOh, the little bitch is scared, huh?â Naoya laughed right into your face, his tongue leaving a wet trace along your throat and it filled you with enough disgust to wince. âWhereâs your protector now, eh? Whereâs your big daddy Sukuna?â
âWhatâs your problem?â The question slipped through your tongue in nothing more than a whisper. You couldnât believe that youâre going to die because you asked a random man for help and that random man turned out to be a gang member or something. âI donât have anything to do with him, Iââ
âOf course, you donât. Iâm sure he fucked you and threw you out like a trash you are,â Zenin spit nothing but venom as his eyes were piercing holes into your skull. You could feel his hand sneaking underneath the fabric of your hoodie and your attempts on pushing him away did nothing to stop him from squeezing one of your breasts. âI bet youâre a good fuckthing tho.â
âGet your hands off of me,â you warned, your voice now rougher but still, too quiet to pose any threat. You wanted to nail his eyes out, to rip his heart out of his chest, but none of that you were able to do. Naoya laughed, once again, sounding like an asshole he was as he stepped back.
âUndress.â It was an order that he threw at you. Him, along with the other two, circled you as if predators would circle their prey and you felt small below the weight of their eyes.
âNo.â
The moment you denied, the sharp pain sent you to the ground. He hit you, one of them, right in the face, with the top of his hand. The harsh contact of his knuckles and your cheekbone snatched you off your feet.
âYou heard the order. Behave, slut.â The dark haired one was speaking calmly, but there was a certain coldness in his tone. The nonchalance that froze your insides.
âNoâŠâ You whispered, desperate to keep your dignity intact before you die. Immediately they showed you why hoping for it was foolish, as the series of kicks enveloped you in the cage of pain and suffering. You hid your head inside your eyes, a helpless try to protect it from the heavy boots that not once held back before making contact with your fragile frame. You remember the sound of their voices, the feeling of their fists connecting again and again with your body.
âSo fucking stupid,â someone laughed at you and you were far from sure and way too scared to check it yourself, but you could have sworn that somebody spit at you. âDonât you understand? Nobody will save you now, no one cares about a bitch like you. Iâd say it last time. Undress.â
âN-noâŠâ, you sniffled, hugging your head tightly as if bracing yourself for another salve of hurt. But it didnât come, no hit was aimed at your curled on the ground body. Instead, you heard the pained whines from not too far away, you heard the sounds of a battle and was it the sound of bones being broken? You couldnât tell, it felt surreal, was that it? Was that how youâre gonna die? Because surely no one in their right mind would step into action, risking being killed themselves for you.
âHey, Iâll take you to the hospital,â that voice. You knew that. You heard it for such a short time in your life and yet youâd recognize it everywhere. The low, slightly husky tone that you remembered as one that was enough to turn you on just by the sound of it. Now it was accompanying the very gentle arms that scooped you off the floor. Then, you dared to open your eyes.
âŠ
âRyomen?â Your voice felt weak, your throat hoarse from the dryness but that didnât stop you from speaking. The more information got into your brain, the easier it got to understand what was the place you woke up in.
A hospital. You woke up in the hospital bed, surrounded by monitors and machines. Your body bruised and battered, ached with each breath you tried to take. Your head was still foggy and your muscles stiff, you had a pounding headache that only got worse as the memories of the night before came flooding back to you. You were lucky. So incredibly lucky to be alive. And yet again, Sukuna saved you. Then you probably passed out.
âYouâre awake,â he sounded soft. How odd. âHow are you feeling?â
âIâm⊠why are you here?â
âI had to check if youâre alright. And also Iâm gonna take you home, but needed to wait until youâre awake and doctors can give you the last checkup.â He explained it matter-of-factly and it only got you more confused than you were just a second ago.
âThat⊠doesnât exactly answer my questionâŠ?â
âIt will do for now. Iâll bring the doctor.â
Sukuna left the room sooner than you had a chance to ask anything else. He felt as if the weight was taken off his shoulders the very second you opened your eyes and recognized him. The last hours were an agony, he stayed near your bed for the entire time and though there was nothing that was threatening your life anymore, he couldnât help but feel so awfully guilty. The foreign feeling of it made him realize that he was fucked up good, you had poisoned him with emotions that he already forgot about, the useless display of something that he considered a weakness for the better of his life. As he was watching your fragile frame, though covered with white, clean sheets he felt the rage boiling inside his veins because he knew. He saw the damage on your body, the bruises that painted your soft skin in dark, purple-ish blotches, the patch of scratches on your side â in place where your naked hip met the ground. And your cheek⊠there still was a red spot on top of your cheekbone, the one Sukuna assumed was also a result of a hit and it angered him even more because if he has noticed it before, he would for sure kill those imitations of a men and not only leave them in a mush.
Sukuna felt a certain sense of responsibility due to what happened to you. It wasnât your fault, per se, that when you were looking for help in that club when you first met him, you had the misfortune to pick a persona like him and frankly, if Sukuna would know back then that Naoya will come for you later to get his revenge, he would kill him right then and there. The more he thought about it, the more he was realizing that he would kill anyone if it was to keep you safe.
âReady to go home?â Ryomen asked, assisting you in pulling your bruised arms through the sleeves of a hoodie he had brought you. A clean one, way too big on your frame but comfortable at that, lined with plush so that it wonât irritate your injured skin.
âI think soâŠ?â Your reply was confused, it was unsure and still slightly underlined with fear. There was a reason to it, last time you saw the man that was now trying to help you, he threatened to rid you of your head. âRyomen, I donât understandââ
âJust hush,â he cut you, gently swooping you off the edge of the bed and you settled in the safety of his muscular arms, leaning your head against his shoulder, next to his neck. âI was told you still should rest so let me take you home. Alright? Alright.â
There was no point in arguing, you couldnât do much whilst in his arms even if you tried and it was naĂŻve, you thought, but there was a sense of protection tied tightly to the way he was keeping you close. You felt as if any danger couldnât reach you when his hands were wrapped around you. He was dangerous, that much you knew, and yet there was a gentleness in a way he was holding you near his chest, near the place where his heart beats in a regular, calm rhythm. Fact is, you didnât want to run away from him, though you should. And so, you leaned into him, nuzzling your head into the dip between his neck and shoulder and as you breathed in his scent, the musky note of his cologne and tobacco, you felt at ease.

Your beach day starts a little late since the three of you were so tired after being woken up in the middle of the night. Truthfully, if it were up to you, youâd continue sleeping. But it isnât up to you since Ren wakes you up, reminding you that he has to go out. This trip is for him, you canât just stay locked inside sleeping.
Unlike earlier, the place is packed with people, which makes Satoru feel slightly uneasy. Ren seems to be happy, which is all that matters anyway. You settle down, laying down a towel on the sand, immediately grabbing the sunscreen to put on Ren.Â
âSit down for a minute, play with the sand or something.â You order, and Ren pouts because he immediately wants to rush and go to the water. Satoru notices, and his immediate suggestion is,Â
âLetâs build a sand castle, that sounds like fun!â
âLet me put some sunscreen on you too, Satoru.â You say, but Satoru acts like he doesnât hear you. Satoru is shirtless, just wearing swimming trunksâ And you know how he is, he will most definitely get sunburnt. You roll your eyes, allowing him to get sunburnt because youâre not about to argue with a grown man.
You watch as Satoru and Ren kneel down on the sand and begin to play with it, Satoru trying to guide Ren on how to make a sand castle⊠Satoru isnât the greatest instructor since heâs never really messed with making a sand castle before. It doesnât really matter anyway because Ren isnât paying all that much attention.Â
âYou can go now!â You tell Ren, and he stands up, sprinting to the water. Satoru runs after his son, making sure to keep his eye on him. Youâre thankful for Satoru since he allows you to lay down and relax.
Maybe you should watch how Ren plays so gleefully in the sand, but your eyes feel so heavy. Youâre still so tired. Maybe itâs all the exhaustion from the past years thatâs catching up to you, and you finally get a moment to fully relax. Your eyes are practically shutting on their own, but you feel someoneâs tiny wet hands pull your foot.
âCâmon, mommy. Letâs go to the water.â Ren urges you to stand up and follow behind him. You take the biggest breath of your life before standing up and following behind him, leading you to Satoru whose feet are on the shore.
âArenât you going to take off your dress? Kind of weird to come into the water with a dress.â Satoru notices how youâre still wearing the dress that you put over your swimsuit, and you roll your eyes. Itâs not like Ren gave you much of an option before dragging you along. Plus, Satoru and Ren went back to the house completely soaked.Â
âWhy do you care?â Your voice is laced with attitude. Satoru bites down his lip before grabbing Renâs hand and dragging him into the water. Ren is happy with this, but heâs dragging you with him, and itâs getting your dress wet. You donât care too much anyway, you expected the dress to get dirty anyway, you just didnât plan on getting it wet. You have the feeling that Satoru just wants to get you in a swimsuit, and youâre not giving him that pleasure. Maybe youâre too full of yourself, but you know Satoru a little too well.
Just as you expected, when the sun goes down, Satoru is sunburnt. Itâs funny to see him red, claiming that he is fine and his skin doesnât feel burnt. When youâre back in the beach house and Ren gets a good look at his father, he canât help but comment, âYou look like a crab, daddy.â
âI look like a whatââ Satoru freezes, slowly blinking as he finds himself⊠Offended? He shouldnât be, Ren is four, he doesnât know what heâs saying. Or maybe Ren knows exactly what heâs saying since he doesnât really have a filter.
âA crab.â Ren repeats, which makes Satoru furrow his brows. Satoru walks over to one of the mirrors around the house that are up for decoration, and he bites down his lip. He fucking looks like a crab.
âShouldâve taken my offer for sunscreen.â You shrug before walking to your room to change out of your beach clothes and into something more comfortable for the time being. You would offer Satoru a remedy, but he did this to himself.
When youâre in pajamas, you walk out of the room and go to the living room to find Satoru and Ren playing a card gameâ Well, Satoru attempting to teach Ren how to play a card game. Itâs sweet, but you have to interrupt the moment.
âSatoru, can you bathe Ren while I get started on dinner?â You ask, and Satoru furrows his brows, making you roll your eyes. Itâs not a hard task at all, why does he act like it is?
âMake dinner? Iâll just order something. Youâre just supposed to relax.â Satoru says. You know the kitchen is stocked up with all kinds of foods, you really donât see a point in ordering out. Nonetheless, you take his offer because your body is begging for a break.
âCome on, stinky. Time for a bath.â Satoru puts his cards down and picks up Ren, carrying him to the bathroom. Youâre left alone in the living room, and you make yourself comfortable, laying down on the couch.
Youâll fall asleep on the couch if you keep laying down without doing anything, but youâre on vacation, you should be fine. Satoru is handling Ren, and right now you donât have any other responsibility. You can just shut your eyes for a moment⊠Itâs not going to hurt you.
Just as you allow your eyes to rest, your phone rings. You try to ignore it, but you decide to check who it is because it could be an emergency. Everyone knows youâre on vacation so no one will really try to bother you unless itâs important.Â
You read Suguruâs name, and your breath gets caught up in your chest. Not in the way youâd like it to be. Nerves fill you up, but itâs not the kind you had before. You arenât excited to talk to him, and you think about answering for a moment. You end up sending him to voicemail before silencing your phone and shutting your eyes again. You need to sleep for at least ten minutes.
Satoru orders some food, waking you up when it gets to the house. You eat together, and for a moment you feel like a family. A complete family where Satoru has been your husband for years instead of being gone the past five years. Until his wife finally gets home after being out all day. She doesnât join you, simply greets the three of you before going upstairs. You tense up, which Satoru notices.Â
When you finish, you trust that Satoru will clean up, which makes you stand up and go to your room. Youâre just going to take a quick shower, youâre sure Satoru can handle Ren for a bit. Youâll be out within ten minutes, Satoru will be more than okay. You hop into the shower, completely forgetting everything.
âHey, is Renââ Satoru barges into the room, not really caring to knock prior to entering. Satoru stops in his tracks when he hears the sound of water from the bathroom. You donât hear him, the water suppressing any sounds. The door is cracked open and Satoru bites down his lip, quietly stepping near the door.Â
Oh, itâs so wrong for him to do it but he looks through the cracked doorâ He knows damn well that youâd gauge his eyes out but heâs willing to take that risk. All the blood rushes to his dick as he sees you naked for the first time in five years. Fuck, heâd do just about anything right now to have you under him.
He canât keep staring, he came here to ask you a question about what Ren is allowed to do. His son is waiting for him. But Satoru keeps staring. Until you two make eye contact, and you roll your eyes at him. No wonder you felt someone watching you. You yell, âClose the fucking door, pervert!â
Satoru gets even redder than he is as he completely shuts the door. He waits a moment before walking back to his son and telling him, âYeah, we can watch a scary movie, bud.â
âLord Sukuna!â A man screamed before immediately bowing before him, Sukuna walking in his true form didnât bother to look down. You walked behind him looking straight ahead holding Yujiâs hand. Yuji was smiling bright holding a sparkler that hadnât been lit, you didnât miss the smile and women who looked up at you with kind eyes and the kids who peaked at Yuji giggling as he waved his chubby hand sparkler shaking around and they waved back.
Treated like Royalty out of fear of The King of Curses, Uraume continued walking behind you with your Lady in waiting. Stopping when Sukuna had finally situated himself on the Platform reserved. It over looked the area, the festival to commemorate the ending of the year. You slowly sat beside Sukuna when he motioned you over with a look. Yuji sat to your left quickly changing to squish himself between you and his dad. Both you and Sukuna shifted over to make room for him as he started rambling about all the lanterns and games, asking if he could go. You looked at Sukuna, he seemed unsure before Uraume suggested it might not be a bad Idea, âLord Sukuna, Surly no one would want to cause a massacre on the day of the coming new years.â
Sukuna looked at you and you looked at your son, Yuji was trained on his dads face with a pout and those big pleading eyes, Sukuna turned away with a wave of dismissal. âIâll be here, come back when youâve had your fun.â Yujiâs quick smile turned into a pout âdaddyâs not coming?â
Sukuna felt the tug on his robes, he refused to look knowing heâd gave if he saw his soon looking up at him with teary eyes, but also couldnât stand to look like a spineless fool for playing those pointless games.
âCmon baby,â you picked up Yuji kissing his round cheek, âDaddyâs busy,â you stood carrying him with you, âHeâll come later when HE HAS TIME.â You emphasized the words looked past Yuji at Sukuna, nodding your head to Yuji who hugged your neck resting his head on your shoulder pouting. You mouthed to Sukuna âHE WANTS TO BE WITH YOUâ Sukuna looked away, you rolled your eyes and nodded at Uraume, their faint smile hinted they understood as they gave a slight nod, your two ladies in waiting quickly followed you when you started your walk with Yuji. Making it to the stalls looking down at Yuji he had a pout as he looked straight ahead, squeezing his hand he looked up at you and you smiled, âyou said you wanted to try some of the foods letâs get you some okay?â His eyes shining when he looked up at you with a smile, âYeah!â
Asking your ladies in waiting to get a place ready you went around with Yuji ordering a few things from different stalls. Yuji sat down beside you swinging his feet, peeking on the table at all the snacks the Ladies in waiting were laying out. âIt looks funny.â Was all Yuji said as he picked up fried squid on a stick, brushing his hair back you kissed his forehead, âIt does look funny but you should try it.â
Yuji quickly bit into the squid and seeing his face you stuck your hand in front of him just as he spit out the squid, â..ÉŽáŽâŠâ you tried not to laugh at Yuji while you let him sip your tea. Your lady in waiting wiping your hand clean as you helping Yuji go through Daifuku, Taoyaki, Mochi, Taiyaki, Dorayaki, dango and ManjĆ«.
âAw my poor baby.â You cood hugging him while he sat in your lap, he laid back against you whining tummy round with the sweets he was eating. Softly laughing at how his head fell to the side looking at the dango he weakly lifted, the Sakura flavor half gone, the plain white one had a small nibble, the green one had teeth marks in it where he bit into it but didnât like it. ââm full mommy.â You squeezed him and he huffed wiggling around, âwanna play a game.â You let him slide down your lap as you started to get up. The ladies in waiting packing up the untouched food.
You followed Yuji adoring the way he waddled, he wouldnât be your little boy forever, so youâd have to cherish it while you could.
Watching Yuji play goldfish scooping was the highlight of your night. He squatted there persisting he could win because he wanted to win a goldfish. After his 5th turn he looked up at you with teary eyes and a wobbly lip, you knelt hugging him and he sniffled, âwan a golfish for daddy..â you heart braking you nodded, âLet me try okay?â He looked up at you and nodded. You did your best and managed to meet this crooked booths rules and Yuji was able to pick a good fish to take home. He chose a black gold fish because âis the only one!â
Letting him walk around carrying the bag proudly you tried a few more games until it came to an archery target booth. Where he persisted he could make it, once again it took five tries. And he hadnât made a single target. It was upsetting to see Yuji fail so many times, so you stood Yuji on the boothâs table top and stood him in front of you, you had never tried one of these but it was worth trying if your little boy wouldnât be upset. You tried to guide his hands but the âkidsâ bow was entirely to tough for a child. Still you let him pull back the bow and tried to help him aim before you release you watched as the target was struck but an all to familiar flame. âDaddy!!â Yuji cheered turning around in your arms, looking for his dad. There stood Sukuna amongst the separated crowd, the booth vendor seemed frightened at the sight of your husband when he took the bow from Yuji, just like you low life useless humans, trying to justify yourselves and present yourself self righteous when your able to look a woman or child in the eye and lie to them for your own profit. If this hand been any other woman or child I wouldnât have even looked in your direction,â he stretched the bow as it caught flames from his flame arrow, âBut treating my wife and my son like low life scum is something else.â His snarl and low voice had the vendor shivering, âL-lord Sukuna! Forgive me if i had known-â the man was shot dead and you didnât let Yuji turn to look, âNow everyone knows.â Sukuna declared looked around, the entire crowd in agreement and fear in silence.
You let Yuji free when he jumped into his dadâs chest, Sukuna catching him with one arm moving him onto his broad shoulders, âDad! I won you gold fish!â Sukuna got closer to the stand ripping down the tiger Plushie he knew Yuji wanted. He may not be openly affectionate always but he did understand and know how his son thought. Yuji hugging his dadâs neck when he took the plushie, and you showed Sukuna the black Gold Fish, Sukuna looked amused carrying the gold fish on the same side Yuji sat. He motioned you to his side with his free hand, you followed quietly listening to your son and husband idly chat about what Yuji had down the past 2 hours.
Finally getting back to the platform where Sukuna sat, you noticed a bit of blood shed not far, you blinked and looked at Sukuna who eyed you and shook his head no. Taking the sign you held silence and sat beside him, before laying Yuji across your lap, he whined and crawled over to Sukuna, sitting himself on his dads leg leaning his back against his dads propped leg looking to the sky, he was ready to see the lights he heard you talk about.
Talking quietly with Sukuna you watched as he rested his large hand on Yujiâs round tummy before resting a hand your side pulling you closer closing the space. You smiled resting your head on his shoulder looking up at him, he turned to look down at you. The fire works started and Yujiâs ooâed and aahâed talking about the colors and how loud they were. You smiled kissing his forehead. Before turning to Sukuna, âAnother Year with my husband and our Son.â
He had a small smile, pulling you closer so he could kiss you, his hand moved down to your waist. Just as he kissed you he pulled away with a hearty laugh, âa new year with my wife and OUR children.â You looked confused before you understood âRYOMEN!â In disbelief you looked at your own stomach, âhow?!â
He leaned back on one arm, âOh Iâm sure you donât need to be reminded how or when,â the smug look on his face caused your face to heat up. You looked down at Yuji as if he were gonna save you from his dad, only for him to be sleeping and snoring softly laid out in his dadâs lap.
You smiled shaking your head while Sukuna laughed to himself holding you firm against him kissing the top of your head, âHappy New Years.â You mumbled before kissing his cheek.
âââ-
Itâs a bit rushed but i wanted something for new years đ„č Happy New Years everyone!

Inspired by this lovely ask by @subarusuguru. You made my head spin with the idea of hockey player Sukuna!! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me! I had to write a little something đ
Pairing: Hockey player!Sukuna x Reader (female)
Genre: fluff + smut
Word Count: 700
Warnings: 18+, smut, mentions of injuries, but nothing bad. All characters are of age. Divider by @/benkeibear
Hockey player!Sukuna, who is a devil on the ice. The rival teams always know they will have several injured players after each match against Sukuna. He has a very aggressive playstyle, and his speed and strength, combined with his quick mind, make him unstoppable.
Hockey player!Sukuna, whose maroon eyes always find you when he enters the ice. He winks at you and makes a kissy face, laughing when you blow him a kiss back. The whole hockey arena can know that you are his, and he is yours. And anyone who dares make a rude comment about him being so soft for his girl will receive a brutal body check that sends them facefirst onto the ice or into the boards.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who has a mad glint in his eyes during the whole match. He is ambitious and confident, and he always plays to win. He loves being an asshole and taunt his opponents, laughing when he can get under their skin with his snide comments. But no matter how much Sukuna riles them up, they still aren't able to stop him because he always puts his whole anger and strength into his game.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who is a completely different man when he goes on the ice with his princess. Treating you with so much care and being such a gentleman. He holds your hand to make sure you don't fall when he teaches you how to ice skate. And once he can see you are ready for the next step, he lets go of you and tells you to skate toward him to get a kiss.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who has so much fun when showing you how to play hockey. Your time on the ice is filled with playful fights and good-natured teasing comments that are so flirty that you get butterflies the whole time. His laugh sounds different too, happy and free, and he only uses his strength to pick you up and pin you against the boards so he can kiss you until you are breathless.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who grins that charming grin when he lets you score and praises you for being such a natural talent, even though you know you suck. Of course, Sukuna also has to show off a little in front of his girl, and he steals the puck from you easily, making you gasp at his speed and watch with wide eyes and a smitten expression on your face as your boyfriend skates across the ice and shoots the puck into the goal with so much force it almost rips the net.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who feels a proud buzz running through his veins anytime he sees you in his jersey. Somehow it drives him crazy to see you walking around with his last name on your back. It spurs him on to play even better and show you that he is worthy to be your man. Maybe he should buy a ring and give you his last name on your ID too, and not just on a jersey.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who loves to fuck you in the locker room after every match when his teammates have left. A victory fuck to celebrate when he is still pumped full of adrenaline and euphoria, pulling you onto his lap and bouncing you on his thick cock while groaning in your ear and telling you that it is all thanks to your love and support that makes him play so damn good. Or an angry fuck after a loss to make him feel ok again, lifting you up and slamming you against the shower wall, snapping his hips fast, fucking you hard and deep, growling your name when he cums in you and finds sweet relief in your warm cunt.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who can't stop smiling when you dote on him when he is injured after a rough match. He has a high pain tolerance and doesn't really worry all that much about the injuries, but he loves it when you take care of him and look at him with so much worry in your eyes. It makes him feel so warm, and so he happily plays along and lets you change his bandages, pet his hair, and cuddle him.
Hockey player!Sukuna, who loves to win, but who thinks his biggest victory was winning your heart.
I am so in love with him!! Thank you so much for sending me that prompt!! I hope you liked my little headcanons ;)
