So, idk if anyone has said this before AND IT MIGHT BE A STRECTH!!!....but what if the black flower was actually a baby rainbow monster? And for some reason, it couldn’t bloom…

As stated in "What makes the flowers bloom" book, we see that rainbow monsters start out "cradled in flower buds before growing up into big monsters..."

Idk what this could imply, so I'm bringing it to you to see what you think! I have my own thoughts but I'm not sure if I'm actually delulu and going in the completely wrong direction.

Also, you mentioned that the 3 sisters in Primella seem to share the same colors as Julie's siblings. And that it seems that Julie might view them as bossy and whatnot (smthn along those lines, I can't remember exactly atm).

I think I read from somewhere (I can’t remember if it was you or not) that maybe the reason she isn't part of the band or smthn is be she doesn't exactly fit in. Color wise, I mean.

On the same page from earlier, we see that rainbow monsters supposedly "stick to one color, so that together [they're] totally kaleidoscopic." And the fact that Julie is multicolored may be in part what keeps her excluded? Idk.... I think the same person who mentioned this also thought "what if she isn't a real rainbow monster?"

Just thoughts, tho.... just wondering what you think of all this :3

So I do not think it is a stretch at all!  That is awesome you made that connection, because I had not even thought about it!  I am not sure if you go on Reddit much, but people on there were even calling the black flower the “miscarriage flower” 😭, which is extremely dark, but we know Welcome Home can Go There.  I found this discussion by StrawberryShibaBoi on Reddit particularly interesting (original post here, or I have copied the text below if you don’t use Reddit!)

So I *definitely* think you are on to something!!  A comment chain on this YouTube video also pointed out the following:

So, is maybe the Buggle a *failed* Rainbow Monster?  Like if they don’t bloom properly, they become a Buggle, which is an annoying pest (at least, it appears to be so far--maybe they're actually nice, just misunderstood 🥹).

There’s a lot of examples of failed growth and metamorphoses in Welcome Home so far—the flower, the Buggle, all of spring, and let’s not forget our pal, HOWDY, who has yet to turn into a butterfly like the rest of his family.  It just makes me think, if you are not allowed to be yourself, if you are hiding something, you cannot properly grow up/bloom, and that failure physically manifests itself in Home.

Sorry to get a bit off topic, but your theory made me want to look into this further, and I am definitely going to continue pondering! (I encourage everyone else to, too! ☺️)

And that brings me to your second point—it is definitely curious that Julie has more colors than her siblings!  She’s separated from them in several ways.  She doesn’t live in the caves, she doesn’t play in the band—she doesn’t fit into their “mold.”  Definitely seems pointed that the book says “we stick to one color”!  Like, maybe Julie will be pressured to make herself just one color if she returns to her band, even though that's something she can't actually change.  And “color” can be literal color or it can be symbolic how she’s neurodivergent, she is queer-coded, etc.—just that she doesn’t fit in.

(I think Julie may also have all her siblings’ colors on her body?  I know the left image is non-canon and may just be her shirt, but it looks like her midsection is yellow-orange, and her feet are blue and green.  I know her plush doesn't have the yellow midsection, but maybe it's due to resource constraints. I am just wondering if her siblings are annoyed she has “their” colors, too. 🥴)

Also, that page you posted says “Horns come in all different shapes and colors, but the bigger the better obviously.”  And Julie has the smallest horns of her siblings. :c Rude of them to say that when she’s standing right there! Although she doesn't seem bothered...

To add onto this

This kinda reinforces the feeling I got when watching the video… that she had a miscarriage, or maybe an abortion, and in the final video (PARCEL) Frank says “I know exactly how they would look at her,”

Abortion is very stigmatized and looked down upon, even now. And a miscarriage is just downright unfortunate.

But reading the screenshot of that Reddit post, that also could be a possibility, albeit a dark and sad one.

And about the “Rainbow Monsters stick to one color” thing, Julie does have orange in her horns! And her nose, but idk if I’d count that, since Franny has a yellow nose, which stands out from her blue color palette. (Not to mention the eyelids of Franny and Bea, but i guess it doesn’t matter bc it’s very little compared to the rest of them).
