My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.

Shoutout to people in the notes also mentioning people learning the language, I should've mentioned that really, given that I've been stuck reading German picture books myself while learning German.

Honestly you would think after the first time (especially after the 2nd) they attempted to take the X Files away from Mulder and Scully or reassigned them they would realize that only makes them 10000% more determined to work on them (specifically Mulder, sometimes Scully is just along for the ride).

my favorite thing in the x files is when someone from mulder’s past calls him up specifically because of a completely insane case and then is absolutely baffled by mulder’s equally insane explanation. you invited spooky to the spooky convention and got upset when he showed and up and spooked everyone. what the fuck man

i've been slowly watching the xfiles (i'm about halfway through season 2 rn) and i love how often mulder and scully accomplish approximately fuckall. like they don't stop any deaths. they don't capture the villain, or if they do they escape promptly. they don't even really know what the hell happened. literally they were there and it didn't change anything. but they were there
