Tein was at the forefront of the import scene in the early 2000s. You couldn’t flip through an issue of Super Street or Modified without spotting a full-page ad or a feature on their latest suspension innovations. One of their most forward-thinking developments was the EDFC—Electronic Damping Force Controller. Traditionally, adjusting damping settings meant getting out of the car and manually dialing in each damper. But with the EDFC, drivers could fine-tune their suspension from inside the cabin, even while on the move. It felt futuristic at the time, and for good reason. The concept was so influential that other companies, like Tanabe, introduced their own versions in the years that followed.
