Tears start to run down my face as I hear his truck roar outside. I hold my back as slowly stand up. I walk over to my bed. I lay down and as my back hits the mattress I cry even harder.

About an hour later I wake up the door opening. I turn to face away from the door knowing it’s him.
“Baby I’m sorry.” He says as his voice cracks.
I don’t reply but turn over to face him. I wipe the tears off my face before looking up at him.
“Fuck” he whispered. “Where does it hurt?” He ask as he steps closer.

Today was lily’s first birthday party with her friends. She’s had birthday parties before of course but family members only.

Rafe got out of bed and headed to the living room to see Lily playing with her new toys on the floor while watching a movie. He turned around and headed back down the hallway to the bathroom. As soon as he stepped in the bathroom he rushed to take his clothes off. He slid the curtain open and stepped in behind me.

We quickly finished up the rest of our shower and head back to the bedroom. Rafe puts on his classic outfit. A t-shirt and jeans. While I frantically dig through my dresser while trying to holding up my towel.

I picked out a cute tank top and jean skirt. I then let my hair air dry as I did my makeup quickly.

“Okay mama!” She yelled back as she ran down the hallway to her room. I got up from my vanity and walked down the hall to lily’s room.
I walked in and saw her sitting on floor with her messy hair and matching pajamas.

I slip the dress on over her head, then begin to brush out her knotted hair and put it up into a small bun.
“Okay you can go back to playing now.” I say patting her back.
“Mama what about my birthday cape and hat.”
“We can put them on when your friends get here.” I say standing up and walking out of the bedroom. “What should we have for breakfast sweetie?”
“Mickey mouse pancakes!” Lily said clapping her hands.

As I’m making the pancakes rafe comes through the door.

“Its edible baby. So you can eat this glitter but not normal glitter.” I says as I flip the pancakes.
Rafe sets Lily back down and she runs off to the living room. Rafe walks up behind me and slides his hands around my waist for behind.
“You like nice. I can’t wait to take it off later.” Rafe says and he gives me a kiss on the cheek.
“Thank you. But I still have to curl my hair an- shit can you put up the decorations please. I still have to feed her and put together the snacks.” I said as I quickly put the pancake on a plate.
“Mama that a naught word.”
“I’m sorry baby. Can you come eat some pancake for mama.” I said as poured syrup on the plate and slide across the island to her chair.

After she sat down I made my way down to my room and turned on my curling iron. Down the hall, Lily was stuffing her face with pancakes and rafe was hanging up the birthday sign as I curled my hair quickly.
As I was finishing up my last section of hair I heard the door bell ring.
“Rafe can you get that!” I yelled from the bathroom.

“Y/n! Oh! Who are you? I must’ve gotten the wrong apartment.” I heard a familiar voice from the kitchen.
My mom.
“Oh god.” I whispered. I quickly walked out of the bathroom down the kitchen. “Mom! What are you doing here.”
“What is this man doing in your apartment.” She said as she looked rafe up and down.
“Mom this is my boyfriend, rafe.” I said wrapping my hand around Rafes bicep.
“Nice to meet you ma’am” rafe said sticking his hand out.
“And how old are you, rafe”
“I’m 30 ma’am.” Rafe said putting his hand back down to his side.
“30? Oh come on y/n! This man is way too old for you.” She said raising her voice at me.
“Mom! That is so rude of you to say.” I yelled back at her.
“Oh I don’t care how rude it is. It’s the truth!”
“Mom today is not about me or you. You are either going to deal with it or you can leave.” I said lowering my voice.
“Oh that is not fair.”
“Mom. I’m serious.” I said glaring at her. “And you’re not even supposed to be here. The family party is next weekend.”
“I wanted to see my grand baby early. Where is she anyway.”
“I’m right here grandma.” Lily said waving her hand up in the air from behind me.
“Oh hi there sweetheart.” My mom said pushing past me.
“Mom while you’re here, could you actually put the snacks together? There’s some in the pantry and fruits in the fridge.” I said walking down the hallway while taking rafe with me. “Ugh. I’m so sorry rafe. I was hoping you would meet her a different way.”
“It’s okay baby. I knew it was coming at some point.” Rafe said kissing the top of my head.
“I know but she didn’t have to be so rude about it. You’re not even that old.” I said picking up the curling iron as rafe laughs. “Rafe it’s not funny I’m being serious. That was so rude.”
“I don’t care y/n. She’s just protecting her daughter and her granddaughter.” Rafe said flopping on the bed.
“I know but it’s annoying. I don’t know why she decided to care about who I date until today.” I said finishing up the last strand of my hair before unplugging the curling iron.
“You know what I think baby.”
“What” I said laying on the bed next to him.
“I think you need to relax a bit. You’re going to have a bunch of 2 and 3 year olds running around your house in 30 minutes.”
“Don’t remind me.” I groaned and laid my head on his chest and looked at him.

30 minutes later I had at least 10 little girls dressed in princess costumes running around my apartment.
Lily was currently giving the girls a tour of the apartment.
“This is my bedroom!” Lily says swinging her door open then closing it. She runs down the hallway to my bedroom and opens the door. “And this is my mommy and daddy’s room.”
The second those words left her mouth I could feel my mom’s glares. I turned my head to look at her and was immediately met with glares.
“I’ll talk to you about it later.” I mouthed to her just for her to roll her eyes and walked to the living room.
I followed her down the living room as the girls make their way into lily’s room. I walk in the living room to see my mom grabbing her things.
“Are you seriously leaving?” I say as I watch her put her purse on.
“Yes y/n I’m leaving. That man is not her father and she should know that.”
“So your going to leave your granddaughters birthday because you don’t like who I’m dating?” I asked her.
“Yes. I can’t stand watching this. You should be with Jacob and you know it!” She says pointing her finger at me.
“Mom, Jacob left when I was 6 months pregnant and hasn’t bothered to see Lily or even send a text message to ask how she’s doing. Is that seriously who you want me to be with?” I snap at her.
“Oh whatever y/n. I know what’s better for you and that’s Jacob not some 30 year old man you found off the street.” She says walking toward the door.
“Jacob is not what’s best for me. Rafe has treated me better in 4 months then jacob did in the 2 years I dated him.”
“Fine. If that’s who you want to be with, then be with him. But you may not see me or your father until it’s over.” She says before walking out the door. It closes with a slam.
I walk over to kitchen island and let out a shakey breath before a trail of girls walk in the kitchen with rafe following behind with stuff on his face.
“Mommy! We did daddy’s makeup!” Lily says as the girls giggle behind her.
“Wow girls it looks great!” I say looking at rafe. “How about you girls go play for a little bit more while i make the pizza.”
“Yes!” The girls all say before running back down the hall.
“Where’d your mom go?” Rafe says walking toward me.
“She left and she said I can’t see her or my dad until we’re over.” I says trying to fight my tears.
Rafe immediately wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me into a hug. I wrap my arms around his neck and lay my head on his chest.
“I’m sorry baby.” He says kissing me on the head.
“It’s okay.” I say wiping away my tears.
“Hey don’t cry. You look way too hot right now to cry.” Rafe says sliding his hands down my back to my ass.
“Stop it rafe Lily’s friends are here.” I say as I slap his chest lightly.
He lets go of me and gives my butt a few pats before walking over to the living room and sitting on the couch. I put the pizzas in the oven and go sit on the couch next to rafe.
“So Jacob?” Rafe says looking at me.
“I don’t want to talk about him. He was a loser honestly.” I say laying my head on his shoulder.
“Good. I don’t wanna talk about him either.” Rafe says before giving me a kiss.
I bring my hand up to the back of his head and pull him more into me. Rafe puts his hand high on my thigh and deepens the kiss.
“Ewwww” a bunch of high pitched kiss scream from behind the couch.
I pull away from rafe quickly and sink down into the couch.
“Oh my god” I whisper, putting a hand over my face.
“Jeez girls don’t creep up on me like that.” He says as he puts a hand on chest making the girl giggle.
The oven beeps and I get up the couch and take the pizza while rafe entertains the girls.
“Do it again rafe!” The high pitch voices scream in the living room.
“Mama.” A quiet voice says behind as I cut the pizza. I turn around and see Lily behind me.
“What’s up baby.” I say as I pick her up.
“Who’s Jacob?” She asks as she rest her head on my shoulder as she plays with my necklace.
“Uhm I’ll talk to you about him later, okay. The girls seem like they’re having fun with daddy, do want to join them.” I ask her as she continues to play with my necklace.
She looks up from necklace and watches the other girls laugh with rafe
“Yes mama.” She says and I out her down on the ground.
I finish cutting the pizza on call the girls over. I place slices of pizza on princess and place them on the kitchen table.
The girls sit around the kitchen table eating pizza and drinking juice boxes while rafe and I sit side by side at kitchen island eating left over pasta.
“You handled that really well earlier” you say to him quietly.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean being compared to my crappy ex boyfriend. You are nothing like him and you didn’t deserve to be talked about like that.” I say as I look over at him.
“Baby I don’t care. I promise you that.” Rafe says as he puts his hand on top of mine and gives it a squeeze.
“I don’t deserve you rafe.”
“You deserve the world baby.” He says giving me a kiss.
“Mama can we have cake now?”
“Yes baby, then we can play a little bit more because pick up time is in about 2 hours.” I say sliding off the bar stool and walking around the island to the fridge.
I grab the cake from out of fridge and take it out of the box. Rafe pull a lighter out of his pocket and lit the candles that were on the cake.
I turned the lights off and rafe brought the cake over to the table. I pulled my phone out and opened the camera app to record.
Rafe sat the cake down on the table then walked over to me. I started recording and the girls started to sing happy birthday.
Half way through the song my eyes started to water. I leaned my head on Rafes arms and from the corner of my eye I saw him looking down at me. He gave me a kiss on the head and rubbed my shoulder.
I stopped recording after she blew out her candles and turned the lights back on. I quickly wiped my eyes quickly then sat down at the island again.
“I want the biggest piece daddy.” Lily said as rafe began to cut the cake.
Rafe finished passing out the cake then brought two slices of cake over to me.
“Here you go mama” he said placing the cake in front of me.
“Thank you.” I say before stabbing the plastic fork into the cake.
“Fuck.” Rafe whispered.
“What.” I say looking at him.
“You just look so good” he says as I feel my cheeks heat up.
“Thank you rafey.” I said before eating a piece of cake.

“Oh shut up. I’ve never gotten so compliment’s in one day.” I say trying to hide my face.
“Oh really.” He said smirking at me.
“Whatever” I say before hopping off the bad stool and walking over to the kitchen table. “You girls are leaving in about an hour so what do you guys want to do?”
“Talent show!” One of the girls suggests.
“Yesss” the rest of the girls cheer.
“Okay you guys can go to lily’s room and prepare your talents and then all you will come to the living room and we’ll have the talent show.” I explain to them.
“Okay! You and him be judges.” A different girl says while pointing at rafe.
“Okay you guys have 20 minutes.” I say before they all rushed out of their seats. I walk over to the couch and rafe follows me.
“You’re really good at that.” Rafe say putting his arm around my shoulders.
“What do you mean?” I ask laying my head on his shoulder and look up at him.
“Being a mom. I mean you take care of these girls like they’re all your own.”
“I try. I want to be the house that her friends want to come back too.” I say as I trace his jawline with my fingers.
“Well I think you’re doing great.” He says grabbing my fingers and kissing my knuckles softly. “Have you ever thought of having more kids?”
“I mean yeah. I don’t want Lily to be an only child.” I say as I shrug my shoulders.
“So what’s stopping you?” He asks as he plays with the bottom of my skirt.
“Well when Lily was first born, there was never enough time to go out and meet new people, and if I did meet someone they just weren’t the right person.”
“So what stopping you now?” He asked as moves his hand from my skirt to my hair.
“I don’t know.” I say looking down at the rug.
“That’s okay if you don’t know. If it’s something about me I want you to tell me okay.” He says rubbing my shoulder.
“No. It’s nothing about you. It’s just.” I say before letting how a deep breath. “Ever since Jacob I’ve kind of lost that trust barrier with people. If that makes sense.”
“I understand. And I will wait every day until you’ve gained that trust with me.” Rafe tells me before giving me kiss.
I pull way first. I make eye contact with him before laying my head on his chest. His hand rests on hip while the other fidgets with the pillow by his side.
We stay like that for a couple of minutes before the girls run in to the living room.
“Lily you go first!” A blonde girls yells.
Lily’s talent was a crazy dance she did along the living room with a little bit of singing. The rest of the girls did their talents which included singing, dancing, and lots of gymnastics.
After 30 minutes the talent show was over and the girls were getting ready to leave.
“This one’s for you. And that one’s for you.” Lily says as she hand out her goodie bags.
Soon all the mothers slowly arrive to the apartment.
“Well I hope they were good!” One of the mothers says.
“They were perfect.” I say with a big smile on my face.
“Mommy I want to come back here.” One of the little girls say.
My hearts warms immediately. I look at up at rafe with a big smile on my face. He looks down at me and rubs my shoulder.
“Bye girls!” I say as the walk out the door. “Oh my gosh did you hear that rafe! They want to come back!” I yell, shaking his shoulders and jumping up and down.
“I did hear that. You did so great.” He says pulling me into a hug.
“Mama can we watch a movie.” Lily says as she pulls on skirt.
“Yes baby. Do you want to change in to pajamas?”
“Yes mama.” Lily says before walking to her room.
Rafe settles on the couch as I walk to lily’s bedroom. I see her sitting in the middle of mess of dolls and toys everywhere.
“Well we’re going to have to clean your room tomorrow.” I say as I pull a nightgown out of her dresser.
“No cleaning” Lily says as she shakes her head.
“Put your arms up.” I says before she raised her arms in the air. I pull her dress over her head then put the nightgown on her. “So Lily did you have fun?”I ask as I put her pull up on.
“Yes mama. I had lots of fun. And yummy cake.” She says as she rubs her stomach.
“Yeah, daddy got the good one.” I say patting her butt before standing up.
We walk out of lily’s room to living room where rafe already has a disney movie playing while eating popcorn. Lily jumps up on the couch and cuddles up to Rafes chest. I sit on the other side of him and rest my head on his shoulder.

It was now 7:32 and the movie had just finished and Lily was passed out on the couch. Rafe carried her to her bed while I cleaned up a bit.
I was bent over pulling popcorn out of the couch cushions when rafe walked up behind me. He grabbed my hip and pressed himself against me.
“Leave the popcorn baby. Let’s get to bed.” He says as is stand up straight.
“Let me just pick up these last pieces. I’ll meet you in there.”
“Okay baby. Don’t take too long.” Rafe said before walking down the hallway.
I pick up the last few pieces of popcorn and put them in the trash. I hear my phone buzz from the counter. I grab my phone and see a text from my dad. I ignore it and turn of the lights the walk down to the bedroom.
I open the bedroom door and see rafe laying in bed with nothing but his boxers on. I walk in the bedroom and close the door.
“Come on take that skirt off a baby. You’ve been killing me all day.” Rafe says with a smirk on his face.
I slowly unbutton my skirt and let fall to the floor to let him see my white lacy panties. I then slide my top of slowly to let him see my matching bra.

“Gosh you’re acting like she threw up on me or something.” He laugh.
“I’m sorry, I’m just embarrassed.” I say as I feel my face become warm.
“You’re okay I promise.” He says has a puts and arm on my shoulder.
“Okay uhm well I better get going before she starts to get crabby. Say bye Lily”
“Bye bye mister” Lily said lifting her head out of my neck.
“Bye lily.” The man says giving her a nice smile. “And bye to you too”
“Bye” I said sweetly before walking away.
I pushed the cart towards the front of the store to the check out area.
2 weeks later
It was 6:50 pm and I hired one of the neighbor girls to babysit Lily tonight. I was finally getting a long awaited girls night out. All I knew it’s that I was being picked up in 20 minutes and we were going to a local bar.
“Okay she goes to bed at 7, she going to ask for fruit snacks but don’t give them to her, she sleeps with the fan on, and she needs her blankie to fall asleep. You can have anything just no alcohol and please no people here other than your mom” I told the 15 year old girl.
“Okay!”
I walked down the hallway to Lily’s room to see her playing with her dolls. “Lily baby mommy’s leaving. You be good for Natalie okay.” I said giving her a kiss on the head.
“Okay mommy. Bye bye” she said as she played with her dolls.
I sighed and walked out of her room back and back to the living room.
“Thank you again! Uhm there 40 dollars on the table for you and an extra 20 if you want to order anything” I say before there’s two honks outside. “Bye thank you again Natalie!”
I walked out the door and try my best to run to the car in my heels. I get in the passenger seat and I’m immediately welcomed by my three friends.
“Okayyyyyy!”
“You look sexy girl”
“Oh you are definitely getting a man tonight”
“Oh I wish” I said smacking the brunettes arm.
After a 5 minute drive we finally arrive the the bar. We all rush to the bar and immediately start ordering drinks.

It’s been 3 hours of dancing and downing drinks and I have an hour left before I have to get home. The 3 of my friends were all grinding on random men they found around the bar.
I left the dance floor and found my way to the bar. I walked up next to random guy who was watching whatever was on the tv. He had a buzz cut and looked at lot like the guy from the grocery store.
“I’m sorry, do I know you? You just look really familiar” I asked him putting my hand on his arm.
The man turned his head towards me and immediately smiled.
“Hey I saw you at the store a few weeks ago. The one Lily ran at. I’m Rafe.”
“Oh my gosh hi! Nice to meet you I’m Y/n! I’m still so sorry about her.” I said rubbing his arm.
“No it’s okay! Uhm I actually wanted to ask you a question” he said making eye contact with me.
“What’s up?”
“Uhm are you with anybody?” He asked me.
“Well I’m here with my friends.” I said pointing over to my friends.
“No like dating wise”
“Oh uhm no I haven’t dated anyone for like 3 years now” I said feeling my warm up again.
“Ok. Uh I was wondering if I could get your number. I want to take you out sometime.”
“Of course!” I said taking my phone out of my purse.
He takes my phone and puts his number in my phone.
“Text me when you get home alright” he said as he gave my phone back.
“Do you think you could actually bring me home? I need to get back to Lily and I don’t think they would want to leave so early.” I asked him quietly.
“Of course do you want to go now?” He said standing up.
“That would be great actually!” I take his hand and walk over to my friends. “Hey uh I’m going to go back.”
“Ooo we see you girl.”
“Be safe baby!”
“Wear a condom this time. You saw what happened last time.”
“I will be safe and he’s only taking me home.” I give them all hugs goodbye and Rafe leads me to his truck.
“Here you can out your address in my phone.” He said handing me his phone. I put my address in quickly and give it back to him.
During the car ride back we have a nice conversation and got to know each other more. We soon arrive to my apartment complex.
“Thank you so much rafe” I lean over the center console and give him a kiss in the cheek. “Get home safe” I say before getting out of the car.
