Unobtainable

I’ve opened the doors in search of something that I’ve lost. It was here a when I left but it’s gone now. I had it when I was younger will it be gone forever? Did it disappear with the moonlight ? Like a creature that burrow’s in fear to be eaten waiting to be rescued by the dawn?

It’s cold here.

The chill that has been here for a while and I’m covered with everything including the towels. Will the sun come back tomorrow? Will I suffer in the frigid destitute of a abode of one. How long will this last? I’ve stayed too long and it’s getting too comfortable to move.

A statue.

The status hasn’t changed, my hair is turning gray, the skin and complexion will never be the same. Like the stone eroding, my face has been weathered my wrinkles are the cracks but I can’t crack a smile.

Will I find this thing of mine?

I’ve search in the corners to see if it had been seen it but it hasn’t. I have been to places that I haven’t been. I’ve meet people that I will never see again. Talked to people I will never talk to again.

Trust

Fleeing to rid myself of solitude. I’ve tried to connect, the connections are made and with simple words they are detached. The thing is not there. they do not have this thing I’m searching they want something I do not have. The lust Is shunned and burrow to my abode without the thing I’ve lost.

Dude this was the most stressful hike I’ve been on. The distance was not the problem it was the snakes. None of them coiled! It sucks because that means that I’m non threatening. On my way up I saw one that was lying across the trail, which was the length of the snake. I was 1 yard away from this one. I kept cool and turned around scanning for more. Lo and behold, I see one 1 foot away from my foot not coiled mid turn. Each had amazing camouflage. They resemble the fallen branches I’ve been stepping over till now. Adrenaline, not venom, pumping through my veins, I find the access road, reevaluate my scanning and continue to the peak. I start my descent. Midway through, I catch the rattle of another heading to the brush. My pace slows dramatically to keep my scanning area from 2 yards to 4. 50 yards from the trail head I walk through the thick fallen leaves. A lizard runs across the trail behind me. The Dude April 1, 2006 - December 7, 2018

Dude came to our family on April Fool’s Day. We played with him a little and left do Disneyland. My Mom called while we were at Disney and said that someone came and took him while they were outside relaxing. In a panic my brothers and I got out of line and made our way to the front gate. Once we left the line she blasted an April fools!

Dude didn’t have a name for a couple of weeks. In a flurry of names and attention seeking “dudes” my mom made the final judgement and stated “Dudes, we’ve been saying dude this entire time. Name him Dude” and it was settled. We will never meet a dog with such a fitting name.

Throughout his life there have been many instances of “Dude!, ___________” (one being “Dude, you got hit by a car and survived”)He was a hiker. He was a beach go’er. He was a camper and killer of vermin(squirrels and rats).

Dude has meet plenty of people, kiddos and other animals. He was a fixture in our home and the best host to all, especially the burglars when they visited twice.

Unfortunately, The last couple of days Dude was in pain and unable to walk; he stopped eating, drinking and fought me on when taking his medicine. We had to make a decision for our Dude.

This morning we laid with him, watched tv, attempted to go outside called and spoke with him. We rubbed under his neck and constantly massages his ears and belly.

Dude was here for us when we needed him and we were there for him when he needed us.
