mathosapa beads is a lakota small online business and pop up vendor, based in the pacific northwest. i first learned to bead when i was 15, and have been beading regularly since i was 18, i started selling my beadwork in 2020, and have been beading and sewing fulltime since 2023. i also sell work made by my mom and grandma, who have been sewing and quilting for over 35 years and over 65 years respectively.

long overdue but the past two months have had a lot going on but things are starting to settle down.

bolo i made for my partner using one of their retired guitar picks as a cab, their choice of color palette, and the pattern was inspired by armenian weaving/rugs. my partner is armenian and sephardi and we wanted to take inspiration from textile work from armenia while still keeping it contemporary and alternative to fit their wardrobe.

both a parfleche set by me and a quilt made by my mom are up for auction for yehaw indigenous creatives collective, all proceeds will go to yehaw and their work. theres also a lot of beautiful work by other artists available.

yehaw indigenous creatives collectives is a intertribal community creative space in seattle, they work in land rematriation, well being through art making, and creating space for indigenous people in Seattle.

some photos from the opening of Indigiqueer at Tidelands, it’s always great to be in community with other twospirit and indigiqueer people and especially other artists. im honored to be one of the 14 artists chosen for this group show, and im grateful to have been there for the opening. My work on display for this show includes Changing Ways I and II, as well as Breast Plate, alongside 13 other amazing artists from across turtle island and the pacific islands.
