I'm Going Back to Uganda Soon
       Bellow are My Feelings and what I will miss Most;
  It has been a pleasure to leave in an apartment in Manhattan New york City one of the most expensive places in the world.it took me some days to believe that am the one going  through this experience.
 Since i  was young i had people talking about New York City,how beautiful it is.
The tall buildings and other wonderful things in the city ,True this a city one should  Dream about and if possible visit .
During the day ,i have been occupied with the residency program but at night ,i always start thinking back Home Uganda
Being away for the whole month makes me miss my family a lot.i look forward Meeting my family to tell them what i have seen and learnt in New york city.
Although i have been away for the whole month i do not regret ,this is a Golden opportunity i got.i believe this program have positively  changed my life style,family,and the community at large,it has been linked me to so many people  it has taught me how think and plan,My knowledge has expanded  more confidence than before.etc
Mostly i will miss  Marie's messages checking on me ,she always Made Sure i was comfortable ,I will miss the Hospitality of the New York Residents  there were always ready to give me directions whenever i get lost,the places i have Visited ,the people have met,  have always been warm and welcoming.I will not forget the whole of New york experience.
Tusiime Mathias, Trip to Washington Dc
I went by train from New york to Washington Dc,i was welcomed by Ceasy Smith An Associate Prof at CORCORAN COLLAGE OF FINE ART and DESIGN.
He gave  me grate tour around Dc up to the congress library,we continued to Corcoran collage of Fine Art and design and the Corcoran  museum too.He introduced me to different departments and staff  as well as students of this college.
i proceeded to Washington monument ,American museum of natural History ,American museum of Air and space,and many Artistic places in Washington Dc.
i had a great tour with Ceasy smith ,to the extent i missed a workshop
i was supposed to attend .
During my tour i observed that Washington Dc is totally deferent from New York city.
1,In New york city buildings are very tall and people on streets walk very quickly ,while in Dc buildings are shorter and people walk on a limited speed.Â
the human traffic on streets of Washington Dc is less than that of New York ,Because of this if you are to ask for directions in Dc you you have to wait for some time before you get  some one to direct you while in New york city it s easy to be directed because people are many on the street moving.
2,Dress code in New york City is mostly heavy jackets ,caps and glove
this season ,while in Washington Dc during my three days i was there i observed few people wearing jackets and capes during this season.
 In the Museum the art collection is great and i think other countries should come and learn about this great culture .Iam greatly inspired and i hope in future if there is an opportunity to comeback i would love to come and learn more about the culture of this place.
MY New york City Experiencies
Am Tusiime Mathias, an Artist from Uganda,I arrived on 10th/ 01 /2014.
The first challenge was to find the way around,indeed the cab dropped me few blocks from my actual destination.
Cold weather;i had to go through  cultural transformation throughout the time i have been in New york .Every thing seems new to me i.e Technology,the weather,the environment ,the food,the culture,and Generally the way  things are done here  is really different from where i come from.
   How ever things are different ,i have learned that New yorkers are warm and social people who are ready to help in case you have a problem,I have also learned that New yorkers you have to do things yourself and you have cope with the technology other wise life becomes difficult.Most of the time am on my own and this has taught me to plan my activities and to manage my self.
 Going to places have never been before has strengthened my confidence ,i have acquired communication skills through meeting with different people ,i have made friends  and expanded my network have expanded,i have gained knowledge about life in the New york City and the beautiful things in the city.
After this experience i cannot say i will be the same again to this is a life change experience.
The Beautiful Snow Covered New York City
Yesterday 20th,in the evening I went for a music festival performance while i was in the queue i struck a conversation with a young lady ,we entered in the Auditorium. She wanted to know where I come from and whether I have ever been to New York.I told her that I am a Ugandan Artist who is visiting New York as an artist in residence at Apexart. I also told her that although i had never been to New York, I had come to America before. She also wanted to know my opinion about the weather and whether I had ever come into contact with snow before. I told her that this was my first experience of this kind of weather. She informed me that there was an announcement ,that starting with the night 21st of January 2014 it would be very cold and a lot of snow would fall. I could not believe,in the morning, I found outside had changed into a whitish beautiful landscape. I had to go back into my apartment to put on more warm clothes so that I can continue with the residence program. I went to the subway i boarded a train to uptown and indeed all roads were covered with snow, trucks had to remove the the snow so that cars and pedestrians could move with ease, I wanted to come back to the apartment and on my way back i saw every one was walking normally so I had to turn back and continue with the days’ program.I visited central park and you could see a beautiful landscape with trees without leaves and the pure white snow carpet. What I have noticed today is that if I don’t walk carefully I may fall because of the slippery ground. Today has been a new and great experience for me.
Tusiime mathias after one week in Newyork
After my one week in New york city ,i'm start felling like a new yorker and confortable with language,and food in the city ,some time i cook some time eat in restaurant,or i buy take away, during one week in New york  i  have visited museums,Art therapists,markets,Galleries,libraries sculpure centres and theaters
 In the process of visiting those areas ,iam having a challenges of getting lost and some time it is difficult to find subways but i ask people for directions
Some times am looking for directions,i find other people asking me for the directions
