My Pop has built something amazing. He has a BA, a Masters, a Ph.D, he’s a retired Lt.Col. from the Air Force. He’s a pilot that flew B-52 bombers for 20 years, a rated command bomber pilot with over 5,000 flight hours and over 100 missions flown in the Vietnam conflict, he was awarded the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his combat flying. At Bowling Green State University he served as the chair of the Aerospace Studies Department and as the AFROTC Detachment Commander. He has been the City Manager of a town in northwest Ohio called Napoleon, OH for almost 20 years - a town where he grew up and went to school. He is a member of endless boards including AMP Ohio, where he seeks to find the future of energy resources. He’s a great husband, he put 4 boys through college, has 6 grandchildren, and he has the admiration, respect and love of all of us. He already talks of building the next phase of his life - mostly at their new place in northern Michigan. It will be built much differently - with pontoon boats, wine, and grand kids. Pop has never stopped building, not once in his life. But at 12:15pm EST today he retires. There will be a small ceremony in his honor, and then I hope he enjoys, if just for moment, what he has built. Thanks for everything you have built Pop. You are the greatest man I know. Congrats and we love you. See you Up North.
