the rabbits that hop innocently across the lawn

the bold raccoons with no makeup on

the fish that swim without purpose at sea

the bird that nests at your window can see

are you not one of them?

have you perched at other’s windows,

have you swam without purpose,

has your face never been bare,

have you never hopped innocently?

you know what everything in nature does.

you have seen it.

days that i lost waiting for someone to save me

as i worry as i worry, as a Lovecraftian horror

of a future alone and desolate

of a life dry of meaning and wonder

days that i lost in anguish of experiences

never had, never had, never could have happened

of a future abandoned and rotting alone

of a life with no one to amuse or entertain

days like today i look my Cthulu in the eye and think

I used to flinch when I laid down and closed my eyes

now instead I anticipate your lips coming to mine

I used to lay awake and wonder will my prince ever come

What if Eve had fallen in love with the snake?

What if Adam passed down a figure that was fake?

What if the snake wasn’t a snake at all?
