Basically it's really no different than reading straight up fantasy or generic jp isekai stuff for me, and thus the occasional bouts of isolation I sometimes feel in the fandom. I couldn't make jokes or puns based on MY country's pop culture, I couldn't discuss with fellow fans that could speak MY language. And it's not without the lack of trying, I was told point blank that the novel covers aren't "appealing" and the webtoon is "just another isekai slop". It's fuckin hell here to be the only person that you know in this country to be so obsessed with this series.

We don't even have physical books sold here for crying out loud.

Whatever USA-ism things I know or somewhat familiar with comes mostly from pop culture, tv shows and maybe fiction. It's already an experience that has turned more fictional (basically fantastical) due to going through so many filters to get it on air. You watched movies of college people drinking from red cups only to be told that shit doesn't happen in real life. So DCC definitely earned that "fantasy isekai" tag, if you ask me.

There's a lot of visual and writing overlap between said OC and Carl, hence why I usually give Carl a pretty boy look I literally used the OC's eyes for Carl that's just... no. Thus, from now on, I'm going to draw Carl with less fluffy hair.
