Absolutely! Frank and Charles were both so different, and I'm so glad we got to have both of them on the show!

Aw, thank you so much!<3 :) I’m really glad you think so, especially since the show is so old, it means the quality of the caps are quite bad, and it’s often really difficult to get them to look nice, so I always feel like they’re horrible looking haha!And yeah, our fandom’s pretty small, but it’s one of the best IMO.

Personally, I love Frank. Yes, he’s a hypocrite, he’s a coward, he’s immature, power hungry and in general just a bit of a shit, but that’s who he is and that’s why I love to hate him. Usually, the bad things that he does/says are portrayed in a comical way, so I think you’re just supposed to take him lightly. I totally agree that he’s there for a bit of comical relief, which would suggest that you’re not supposed to hate him necessarily. Even the characters in the show don’t hate him I don’t think.They just sort of accept who he is and that he’ll never change. (All the while making fun of him and getting one over on him generally).

I totally get what you mean about conflicting opinions ‘cause yeah, he’s just not a nice guy. But he’s still hilarious (a testament to Larry Linville’s superb acting?), especially when he’s being stupid/naive/pathetic. I do feel sorry for him though, definitely. A lot of the time people tend clutch at straws to find reasons to feel sympathy for the ‘villain,’ even if it’s not justified, but I think in Frank’s case it is. When you see or hear about the way he was treated by pretty much everyone in his life - his parents, his wife… - I really do feel bad for him. And to me the thing that proves that he could have been a nicer guy is when we see the rare moments in which he is treated with a bit of kindness and respect - for example the episode where Hawk and Beej deliberately try to be nice to him. His personality totally flips almost immediately and he’s just so grateful to think that someone, anyone, actually likes him, to the point where he becomes almost one of the guys. He tries so hard to fit in and ‘belong’ somewhere. I find it sad really. So yeah, I think he’s definitely a sympathetic character, although he usually does something really horrible straight after which just makes you hate him again! :P

I’m so sorry, I totally didn’t mean to make this into an essay, but yeah, basically I love Frank. He’s a great character who I can’t help but have a soft spot for, and I don’t think the show would have been the same without him.
