can I confess that part of the reason the wicked movies don’t hit for me is because they didn’t lean into Elphaba being kind of a bitch?? I know the point is to humanize the “wicked witch” but it’s more interesting imo to look at how the Good/Wicked personas are almost caricatures of who Glinda and Elphaba really are, at least partially. I think they embrace the two as friends and more similar than different, which I get, but to me their differences are more interesting. like is it better to do a “good” thing for “evil” reasons or vice versa?? that is a genuinely interesting question and dynamic to explore!!
