Stuff like this always makes me remember how sensationalized the ââhide your kids, hide your wifeâ video was, also known as the âbedroom intruder memeâ đż.
The guy was clearly one of the earliest memes of a black person expressing frustration publicly (it was a news report of the man explaining how heâd run off a predator trying to rape his sister by the way) but in a âfunny wayâ (the way that nbs and whites find entertaining at least because they donât see black trauma as something that should be given grace, and shown empathy right from the very start over their own intial enjoyment because thatâs no fun), and something like this became a huge joke. Like, this meme was literally everywhere in the early 2000âs, and I think people forgot that his sister was almost raped đ§đžââď¸âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..!
Forgot to mention just in case people start acting stupid oh this post if it randomly blows up (Iâm not popular here so I might be free đĽđĽđĽđĽđĽđĽ) but the bedroom intruder meme was turned into music, merch, the brother was even on tv shows, and tbh, I personally never cared if poor black folks decide to capitalize off of a meme that made them viral to change their situation. Itâs better they get something out of it because whites and nbs are laughing anyway, while making their money off of black trauma. Thatâs how it always is with these memes. Itâs awful.
Holy fuck I had no idea. Never used that meme myself, but that's just vile, poor guy.
Mammal in a Sunday Dress, by Georgina M. Cox, 2026
Mammal in a Sunday Dress explores the uneasy relationship between femininity, civilisation, and the animal body. At first glance, the figure appears modest and withdrawn. Her posture is composed, her gaze seemingly lowered towards her bare feet, recalling the conventions of nineteenth-century portraiture where women were often depicted as passive objects of observation. Yet as the viewer moves closer, the illusion collapses. Her eyes are not lowered at all. She is looking directly back. The delayed eye contact transforms the encounter. The viewer approaches believing they are safely observing a woman; instead, they realise they have been observed themselves. The work refuses the traditional power dynamic of portraiture, denying the comfort of anonymous spectatorship. Looking becomes a reciprocal act. For Cox, the painting considers humanity's persistent desire to separate itself from the rest of the animal kingdom. The title quietly undermines this distinction. A "mammal" is not another creatureâit is us. The Sunday dress, rich with cultural associations of femininity, morality, and respectability, becomes an attempt to distinguish ourselves from nature. Yet clothing cannot alter biology. Beneath lace and ritual remains the same vulnerable animal body. The work also reflects on the historical relationship between women and nature. Across art, religion, and philosophy, women have repeatedly been positioned as closer to instinct, emotion, reproduction, and the body itself, while men have been aligned with reason, culture, and civilisation. Mammal in a Sunday Dress does not reject this comparison. Instead, it questions why proximity to nature has so often been treated as something lesser. Chiaroscuro isolates the figure within darkness, allowing the luminous dress to symbolise the performance of civilisation while the bare feet quietly return the body to the earth. Neither is presented as more truthful than the other. The painting exists in the tension between performance and instinct, refinement and biology. Mammal in a Sunday Dress ultimately asks a simple but unsettling question: if every layer of culture were stripped away, what would remain? Not a king. Not a saint. Not a gentleman or a lady. Only another mammal, looking back.

right. your favorite character. who you've modded into an unrecognizable state. whose personality and motivations you've significantly altered on a fundamental level. that favorite character.
if i see one person complain that felicity and pippaâs relationship in the sweet far thing came out of nowhere iâm going to scream
we clearly did not read the same series because the sapphic overtones between them are so glaringly obvious literally from the first page they get introduced
and gemma herself says that she entirely misinterpreted their closeness but now that she knows the truth it was obvious in hindsight:
hell, iâm not entirely convinced gemma is completely straight from how she describes her female peers, and sheâs clearly not entirely sure either:
when i do a reread with a physical copy imma write an essay on why fee and pip were in love w each other from the start but until then i leave you with this heart wrenching bit:
this cavefish has a concept of the passage of time that no other living animal could fathom
âEveryone has the same 24hâ yeah right buddy say that to cavefish
almost all animals have set activity and rest patterns and this guy does whatever whenever
need a hat that says I WONT SPEAK UNLESS SPOKEN TO AND ITS NOT BECAUSE IM DISINTERESTED AND DONT LIKE YOU I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND SOCIAL INTERACTION AS WELL AS MOST PEOPLE AND ASSUME BY DEFAULT MY PRESENCE IS UNWELCOME AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE SO I KEEP TO MYSELF BUT I DONT MIND IF YOU INITIATE so i can wear it to work
A thing I'm really enjoying about Gentleman Bastards: Locke is genuninely devout. He's a sham priest of Perilandro, but a true beliver in the 13th. He sacrifices things, feels compelled to do things which fuck up his plans, he makes life so much harder for himself because that's the will of his strange god.
There's religious characters in fiction all the time. But for the dashing rouge/charming conman character to have such strong religious convictions he outs himself as a theif in order to give a more honest funeral service is rare.

anyway whatâs the best book youâve ever read and yes if you say some YA shit i will kill a hostage.
i dislike the weird jump to blame suicide victims for their suicides and call them selfish. suicide is very frequently in some way a social murder. i think instead of blaming someone who was in such a dark place that they saw no other way out we should maybe be blaming the people who threw gas on the fire, such as those with a lot of power to make that person's life that bad or those who abused them into it. is that really that unreasonable
waaaay back when I was a cashier in retail we would talk about dumb shit while unloading the truck, and we got to the "what would you do in a zombie apocalypse" me and another worker were like yeah we would just die. End it all, we can't fight or run or shit. I refuse to put that much effort into survival.
And my manager was like no!!!! If that happened, I would drive to find you guys in my truck and we could eat stuff from my wife's garden and I would make sure everyone I know survived!! I would carry you all on my shoulders away from the zombies!!
Anyway, random shout out to that guy. You were too kind for retail management, Devin.
also afterwards everyone who was talking about their cool bunker fantasies were like "Damn, Devin's right, we should also be considering helping people around us." which is the only recorded instance of a retail shift making people better human beings.

Patricia Tannis is truly the character of all time. She's a mad scientist. She's autistic. She's bisexual. She has objectum sexuality. She's the leading scientific authority on her special interest. She's a condescending asshole to everyone. She watched all of her colleagues die and spent roughly two years in near total isolation while slowly descending into madness. She was in a polyamorous relationship with two chairs and watched one of them get tortured to death. She wants friends so badly. She hates social interaction to the point that someone saying hello to her in the street caused blood to spurt out of her nose once, and she considered this a win because it ended the conversation. Someone called her pretty one time and she dry-heaved into a bucket for four straight hours. She is known to bite. She steals people's shin bones. She takes power naps inside a monster carcass. She calls her secret lab a 'terror pavilion.' She thinks music and people who like it are stupid, except for this one singer she enjoys. She's deeply attached to the people in her life. She's currently one of the most powerful characters in the setting, and her scientific curiosity is what set all the events of the series into motion in the first place. Patron saint of strange and offputting women. More people should be obsessed with her.
bro if you dont stop looking at me with those big ole eyes i might have to get you pregnant
