he remembers the first thing he had ever noticed about merlin was the scent around him - flowers and fresh wind. for a while he had never been able to put a finger on it… sometimes he entered a room and he would get the last little bit of flowery smell. sometimes, when he was sitting somewhere reading he would suddenly feel like a fresh breeze of wind came in ( like a spring-breeze, the scent was suddenly just there ).
it took him until their master had introduced the two of them to each other that ur-nungal had finally understood just who he could blame for those sensations. not that the king had been able to do so, the poor ruler had just stood there for a few brief moments, dumbstruck by how beautiful the other one was. the first thing he fell for were merlin’s eyes.
the same eyes that are watching him now as he gets ready - there is something about merlin still being somewhat asleep that makes ur-nungal question if he should just push him back onto the bed or pet his head to ruffle through those soft locks. instead he takes the blanket and just throws it over the caster, laughing while doing so.
“you should try and catch some more hours of sleep, you look like a sheep with your hair standing up like that.”
did he just tell a joke? perhaps. around merlin, the ruler couldn’t help but feel human. with the other one he wasn’t some king or torn between divinity and humanity. he was just a man who had fallen in love for the first time in his entire life.
“…don’t pout. I like it more when you smile… it makes me happy.”
around merlin he is lost in this feeling of love, he is drowned in it and he just accepts it. he could never put into words just how much the grandcaster means to him. he leans down to place another kiss on his lips but whenever he tries to stand up, he just kisses merlin again and he simply gives up when the other drags him back down onto the bed.
it’s not like he could deny him such a wish… after all merlin is the heart, ur-nungal had forgotten that he even possessed.
