Doe, John
Amanda sat alone at her laptop, coffee beside her as she typed up the report for the body they'd found outside the Starfucks yesterday morning.
Well, a report. She'd already gone through the nitty gritty of the real thing. That was her main gripe with this Regulator business - twice the paperwork.
Still, fudging a secondary report was at least a bit easier. She had plenty to draw from, and in this case she knew there wasn't likely going to be any follow-up. No local celebrity, no political activist. She could be sparse with details.
44-year-old white male found unresponsive in alleyway next to Starfucks Coffee on West Main Street. White hair, average height and weight.
She typed up her usual investigative findings, adding and omitting details as needed - easy enough when the guy was found in an alley and the Regs got to him quick. Let's call this one... an overdose. She just needed to remember to make sure this one didn't wind up entered into statistical data analyses.
Medical Cause of Death:
(1) Immediate Cause of Death: A) combined heroin and alcohol toxicity
No antecedent causes, no other significant conditions contributing to death.
Toxicological analysis revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.17%, consistent with a moderate-to-high level of intoxication, as well as morphine and unambiguous heroin metabolites.
Classification of death: accidental
She leaned back in her chair under she got a good spine crack in. She could go into specifics, but there was a part of her that didn't like assigning specific drug compositions to someone who hadn't actually done the drug. No one was going to look into it anyway, but she could pull one out of her ass if she needed to.
She glanced at the clock. Shit it was late. She just wanted to get home and watch Fray's Anatomy and she was stuck here writing the next great American novel. Thanks, Regs.
